How do I have someone discern my article on http://www.afterthewarning.com john-Sevant of God

The reason was that I did not know that this website did not host “Messages”… I later found out that it was Forum. I posted it by mistake, but the fruits that are coming forth are much anointed and I am happy that my human nature made a mistake, but it was the Lord that used my mistake to meet such good people and their love for God. I am learning a lot from them. I am not familiar with posting on websites. I was given permission only two weeks ago to post our articles; people are emailing and calling from all over the world. Almost all have received the same messages that I have received. I thank you for your question.

As do I, John. Please continue and each of us can discern on our own. I also have no problem with the folks questioning. There is nothing wrong with questioning. I've always thought I was aptly named Thomas. Lot of Doubting Thomas in me and it's taken a heavy hammer for God to get my attention in my earlier years. Not so much anymore, I'm much more willing to listen to Him and the guidance of the Holy Spirit who I also believe led each of us here.

Let's all stick together, I think that is very important. Question each other? Absolutely, that's part of the necessary discernment. But however much my rational part of my brain wants to write off what I have read from John as just plain malarkey, the inner voice says listen and it jives with a lot of what I've heard from the guidance of the Holy Spirit for a long time, that we are going to have to go to battle to defend our Faith and each other. My favorite pastor, God rest his soul, who baptized my first son said multiple times in his homilies "let go of needless worry, and have no fear!". I have no fear, if we're with God none of us has anything to fear. God bless all of you, I have been praying and will continue to pray for each of you and for all of our families.

 

Well for what it's worth I think I will throw my own two cents worth . This will take several posts over a period of time, so please be patient.

A few thoughts on Discernment generally. I think there is always a danger of , 'Taking sides'. Of course there will be a range of opinions, some saying a phenomena is true, some false, some unsure. This is not quite what I mean by, 'Taking sides'. By taking sides i mean considering that anyone else is bad , foolish , obdurate or whatever.

We have the example of, 'Doubting Thomas who asked to put His hands in the very wounds of Jesus. Yet the Church does not condemn Saint Thomas but actually in the liturgy of his Feast speaks of, 'Oh felix culpa', or happy fault of Thomas, because by your unbelief you have helped us to believe. So you know a more extensive critique of a phenomena can actually be helpful.

Another good example of this was the Parish Priest at Lourdes (who you may recall from the film, 'The Song of Bernadette' ). Initially very hostile to Saint Bernadette when the lady white reported she was , 'The Immaculate Conception' swung right round. But his doubts in asking the lady who she was provided us with the some of the best evidence she was right.

 

One of the greatest difficulties with the internet is the lack of the personal touch. This goes for all such phenomena and is a general observation rather than a precise criticism. So, effectively we are very reliant on evidence than John Produces in his own behalf. For instance that John has his own Spiritual Director , that he is a Deacon , that he is in good standing with his Bishop and so on.

I recall when , 'Maria , Divine Mercy' , was on the forum she assured us all she had a Spiritual Director , If I had thought for one second she had not got one there is no way I would ever have let her post on such matters on the forum. But you know as time went on I found this claim to be harder and harder to pin down, so I doubt very,very much now if she ever really had one.

I hasten to say that I am not saying John is being untruthful its just we have no real way of verifying such claims. This to some extent will always place a certain limit to any discernment. To some extent at the present moment John is a paper figure to us and the moment and in this sense one dimensional. We have his own evidence on himself. Which is good, but very limited to discernment.

This is not being critical , it would hold with anyone true or false that we met on the net in this way.

Saint Padre Pio on the other hand , for instance we can adduce a whole wealth of positive evidence too. Reports for instance from his fellow Religious, the thousands of visitors and so on.....whereas here?

But anyway these are preliminary remarks. I will go through the whole thing, if I do not bore you all to death first.

 

PS It occurs to me my tow previous general posts on Discernment might appear hostile to John. Not at all.

I am just pointing out that John is effectively a stranger to me and to us all. We have in a sense only his own evidence as regards himself. This places limits to Discernment.

Say I met a monk in the monastery I had known for 30 years and I regarded as a saint....

...then I met a monk a complete stranger...

Both told me they were having visions of Our Lady.....

Clearly I have a good starting point with the saintly monk ,whereas the stranger.....

 

I agree completely Padraig. We have to take a lot of people at their word which is good to do but at the same time the world is full of snakes unfortunately as well. I tend to see the good in people first and take them at their word until something in them or what I read changes like in the case with MDM. I believed at first through reading but through discerning and reading the messages seemed and felt evil. I do not feel that way with John but as you stated it is early so for now innocent until proven guilty is the person I have always been. Right, wrong or indifferent it is who I am as a person.

Yes. that was in around 1982. It was in Dream/Vision. A Map was sent to me via regular mail from a elderly gentleman from Blanco, Texas. (One week after I had my Dream/Vision). It was given to him in 1956. I posted what I saw when I looked at the one that Andy posted. I post it to confirm that many other individuals have been shown the same Map. I leave it up to everyone to discern. Our Lady and the Lord have shown this to many individuals. A visionary drove from Louisiana to talk to me on Sunday. He described the Map as the Lord showed it to him. I did not let him see it until he described his vision. He knew immediately that it was the same map that was shown to him in a vision. His name is Johnnie Hernandez and many in the USA know this man. His spiritual director told him to come and talk to me after Johnnie showed his Pastor/Spiritual director a copy our first article on http://www.afterthewarning.com .

I would like to write Andy that I see the good in people first, but it wouldn't be true now I think.

When I was young I used to go to the bar a lot every night and often found myself talking to strangers...as you do. I think looking back on it I was very innocent. I think I thought in my heart that everyone I was meeting was basically good and well meaning like my own family. Of course looking back on it this was complete nonsense , very many of the strangers were a thoroughly bad lot.

So although I would talk to strangers now it is in a very different way, far more discriminating. I think this is what Jesus warned us about wasn't it, about how we go out from His presence as sheep amongst wolves?

Matthew 10:16

16"Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves. 17"But beware of men, for they will hand you over to the courts and scourge you in their synagogues;…



I think part of me would like to go back to the world as I experienced when I was younger, but, sigh, you can't put the genie back in the bottle and I have had too many bad experiences. I am afraid I regard strangers with very, very different eyes that when I was young.

I hope I am not too cynical or hard boiled, but yes there is a certain watchfulness ,a certain caution.

 

I think another general comment on phenomena generally (before I get down to specifics) is that the vast majority of such reported messages are false. It is difficult to put a figure on it but myself would put the legit at much less than one per cent. False messages sadly have sprung up like mushrooms all over the net and this should lead to increased caution.

When I was young I used to play a game in which I guess which suit of cards a card was when it was face down. There being four suits ; this meant I had one chance in four. This does not sound much but often it took me quite a long time of picking before I made the right choice.

Now imagine you had to pick not only the right suit but the right card itself. Say the Queen of Clubs.



Now you have 1 chance in fifty two of picking the right card. Imagine how many picks you might take before hitting the right Card?

Now imagine you have to pick the right card, the Queen of clubs twice in a row..imagine how long?



Well these statistics can be quite daunting and I think it should teach us to be cautious in discernment.

 

I have one more general comment before I move on to discernment of this phenomena in detail .

You will notice the title of the thread.

'How do I have someone discern my article?'

Well basically I believe we discern through our Spiritual Director . Then having engaged in this Discernment Process one would present it to the Faithful. I don't think it would normally be presented to the public for discernment as such themselves, as a kind of group exercise.

At least I have never heard of it being done in this way.

Say you go to your Doctor and ask him what his wrong, he examines you and at the end he says to you,
'Let us sit down together and try to discern what's wrong' . You would not be too happy. You would expect her to be authorative and take the lead in diagnosis and how to proceed.

Say you went to your dentist, he looked at your teeth and said, 'Well what do you think we should do?' There would be an immediate urge to jump out of the chair and run into the street.



The prophet similiarly should come with authority, seeking after discernment to pass on the Word of God. Whereas in this case the Prophet appears to be seeking discernment about the Word of God he desires to pass on. it is reverse order , if you see what I mean . Like a Doctor or Dentist asking me, 'Well where do we go from here?'

I find it in the reverse order of things, slightly disquieting. But this is just a general observation. I am not nixing things just because of it. It just makes me uneasy.

Now I will move on to specifics.
