The funny thing is, I took the time to listen to his complete commencement speech and it was not what I expected. It was 21 minutes in length. The topic of the Latin Mass comprised a little over 2 minutes and the topic of "homemaker" even less.
I'm impressed! He highlighted the need for a forthright, prayerful Priest who preaches the truth. He ended encouraging especially the male graduates to lead a chaste life to prepare themselves for marriage and fatherhood.

I listened to Sara and my impression was that really she was speaking as if with authority about things she knows very little about as a non Catholic. Many, many Catholics,such as myself , for instance attend both the old rite and the new. There are not two Catholic Churches, an old one and a new one, there is simply the one. We are all of us Catholic. She seems to miss this.

 

Yes. If a Bishop had spoken like this it would have been very impressive. But for an ordinary Catholic layperson to do so was quite extraordinary. He must have a very deep prayer life.

But three Catholic Bishops have come out in support.

There are a lot of cult like followers at the Latin mass many intellectual prideful. I love the Latin liturgy by the way. They judge many people for not wearing a mantilla when they can't afford a mantilla when those people judging them are millionaires or billionaires or making above average and the ones without it are living paycheck topaycheck poor most barely affording food or nice clothes. They could by them one easily. I'm a capuano on my grandmother's side prince so cousins of St. Pio about 30-40 percent related on that side roughly or more. If I were to suppose for a second that everything Harrison said was nonsense and that I disagreed with it all, that would be one thing and fine. He has the freedom to express his own personal opinions and I would have mine. Surely even if we disagree with someone who has deep personal religious beliefs that are different from ours.

The problem here is that a huge number of people want Harrison cancelled, or to put it another way they want him shut down and stopped, they want him harmed. They want him to loose his job, his career, they want his business to end , they want his social status to crash, they basically just want to void him.

This is far, far different than simply wanting to disagree with him.

If he were a Jewish gentleman at a Jewish college , or Muslim gentleman at a Muslim college or even a Protestant gentleman man at a Protestant College saying such thinks no one would have batted an eye lash.

 

It's fine people disagreeing. How boring it would be if we all thought the same. I'm fine with this. But it's this truly hateful anti Catholic bigotry and intolerance that sets my teeth on edge. People who do not simply want to disagree with us but to hurt us.
