The point is that even Trump, who has always been firm in his opposition to the enemies who want the annihilation of Israel, such as Iran and Hamas, is showing discomfort with what is happening in Gaza, so it seems to me that the that began with the initial Hamas attack will provide the best opportunity for an international assault on Israel, perhaps only in the diplomatic and economic field. Although Trump plans to focus on America's internal problems, I think this is a way to advocate for what is best for an allied country, while also securing the support of Christian groups that were part of his electorate in 2016; and who condemn Israel's offensive in Gaza, which affects Palestinian citizens who have nothing to do with the decision to elect Hamas in 2006.

I'm confident that the Church authorities in the US are keeping a close watch on this proposed legislation, being careful not to jump in with an ill-considered response, cognisant that the law is probably a violation of the US Constitutional right to free speech. The Bishop won't want to have the Church sucked in by any attempt to portray what's happening in Gaza as a religious war when faith in God has nothing to do with what's motivating it.

The legislation seems to have been drafted in a hurry to head off some problem foreseen by the politicians. Demonstrations on university campuses may or may not be the reason for the hasty action by the politicians. It could have something to do with the possible charge against the Israeli authorities by the ICC for criminal acts in Palestine It seems there was a cross party group of US politicians despatched to pressurise the ICC. Apparently, their efforts weren't well received but that could change. It's likely that the bill could be amended in the Senate to make it look less like the government is favouring a particular religion or religious group. I expect that the Bishops are using diplomatic means to communicate their views

Any suggestion that the AC is the Messiah that the Jews of our time are waiting for doesn't sound very Catholic to me. For all we know, all Israel (the Jewish people) will be converted before the AC rises to power.

Any suggestion that the erroneous conception of the Messiah the Jews are waiting for is Christ himself is certainly not Catholic since it amounts to a uniquely political and human leader who will bring about world peace without Christ, and build a temple that denies the efficacy of the Redemptive Sacrifice of Calvary, although we know from sacred scripture that the Jewish people will be converted in its fullness at the end of history.

    John 5:42-44

42 but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. 43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. 44 How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?

The fact is that Jews are waiting for a man who will be a descendant of David, the greatest political genius in history and within a human, anti-Trinitarian conception. This does not correspond to the figure of the true messiah, it is more like the prince of this world that Jesus warned about, although obviously they will convert at the end of time, and this is something I have never denied.

The destruction of the Jewish temple in the year 70 by the Roman Empire could be a divine response to the profession of faith that some Jews unwittingly made by saying that they had no king but Caesar, in the same way they may accept the False Messiah because they continually rejected the kingdom spiritual of Christ. As for invincible ignorance, St. Paul seems to teach us that many will be irresistibly drawn to the antichrist because they have previously consciously rejected the truth of the gospel in a way that makes them inexcusable.

    2 Thessalonians 2

1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

    3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,

17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

the error remains in the wrong conception about the messiah that they have constructed over the centuries regardless of whether they believe in it because of invincible ignorance.

Dear Lord, that man is using Sacred Scripture to justify genocide and to support anti-Christian laws in a country that claims to be spreading freedom worldwide as it enriches its weapons industry. Those youngsters standing against genocide in the face of brutality from their own police are probably the only hope America has of dragging itself out of the abyss of evil it has created for itself where so-called Christians have replaced worship of God with worship of a flag soaked in innocent blood.

    Prophecy at Rome circa 1975:

....... I will strip you of everything that you are depending on now, so you depend just on Me. A time of darkness is coming on the world, but a time of glory is coming for My Church, a time of glory is coming for My people. I will pour out on you all the gifts of my Spirit. I will prepare you for spiritual combat; I will prepare you for a time of evangelism that the world has never seen…. And when you have nothing but me, you will have everything: land, fields, homes, and brothers and sisters and love and joy and peace more than ever before. Be ready, My people, I want to prepare you…

He brings up a lot of good points regarding the protesters. What it looks like to me is that there are all these special interest groups in the US who decide to back one side or the other, to support their own special interest through what ever movement is happening. The idea being that whoever has the most support wins, so that their own special interest wins. So now on the right you have the pro-Israel side which is aligned with the Protestants and pro-establishment forces. Then on the left supporting Gaza and Palestinians you have the communists, the minorities, LGBTQ and so on. Then people get pushed into supporting one side or the other, of which both are absurd at this point.

Yes. A time will come when God runs out of patience and reminds the people He created that they are custodians and not owners of the Universe. Great powers will be brought to their knees and those who acted as though they were all powerful will suffer the most. And where is the "all powerful" mindset more prevalent now? I think phrases like "essential" and "chosen" when referring to secular States give us a clue, as does the current practice of cultural colonisation by countries that have turned their backs on God and act as though they are gods.

I posted earlier in the thread an explanation of Catholic teaching on invincible ignorance. Since, evidently, some didn't bother to read it, here are some excerpts from it:

"When it comes to divine assistance, no one is poor; there are only the rich and the super-rich. Everyone has at least natural law and conscience, as St. Paul points out (Rom. 2.13-16):

For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. When Gentiles who have not the law do by nature what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show what the law requires is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or perhaps excuse them on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets pf men by Christ Jesus.

Those young students, bereft of sound Christian teaching in a secular, Godless country, are opposing their country's complicity in genocide the only way they have learned to stand against a heinous violation of the law God has written on their hearts. The response of their senior countrymen, who claim a superior understanding of God's law, could very well determine America's future.

All he does is prove himself to be a useful tool of atheists. Let's face it, America and Europe are post-Christian countries. Perhaps America doesn't fit that description because, at best, it has been Deist since its foundation, but the label "post-Christian" certainly applies to Europe. And Zionist Israel is atheistic as its founders were. There's absolutely nothing Christian about any of the people controlling America, Europe or any of their vassals and it's a serious error for any Christian to look to them as a compass of what is right or wrong.

You're in a secular State that constantly contradicts the truths it holds to be self-evident. What you're seeing now is an inevitable result of all those contradictions. Granted, some of those who remain committed to the aspirations of the authors of the US Constitution and its Amendments, take a more rational view of current events. In the current state of the world, more rational is better than nothing. Here's one of them that sounds a whole lot better than the distortion of Christianity which has become embedded in the psyche many self-proclaimed American Christians:

God will judge the hearts of men according to their intentions and level of knowledge about the truth; this includes those who argue that denial or ambiguity about a Church dogma is normal within the language of the Jesuits and end up ignoring the televised statement of a Jesuit leader who says he wishes hell were empty (which would consequently make the apparition of Fátima false). They are the same ones who say they are concerned about the divisive statements of those who criticize the current pontificate but do not admit that the pontificate itself is divisive; in fact, they even criticize those who expose the truth about Cardinal Fernandez having written a book with erotic language blaspheming the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ. These certainly do not suffer from invincible ignorance, but they openly cooperate with evil.

The concern about the degeneration of the West magically disappears when it comes to verifying the support that the current Pope gave to Hillary Clinton in the 2016 elections, the warmongering, Zionist and abortionist leader. The concern about obedience to the Holy See of Rome also disappears when one it is about defending the Russian State in its persecution of Catholics and their freedom of preaching.

Always defend the papacy against the attack of conservative schismatics, except when it comes to Mother Russia, as in its cultural context it plays the role of the third Rome and exercises the prerogative of dictating the limits of the actions of the Catholic flock.

If you are saying that zionism is a problem with Christians in America, I agree.

That being said, I also see the basics of American politics at work. Where two sides ultimately emerge, and people are forced to choose one or the other. This choice ultimately means having to make concessions with groups & ideologies they don't necessarily agree with. Both sides end up becoming caricatures, trying to force each other out. Then like in 2016 you have people fighting like in the streets, which doesn't really solve anything.

I would also suggest that as these two groups emerge, the victims of the genocide in Gaza get used as a political tool to advance agendas.

That's what I think, sometimes certain groups use the logic of a false obligatory dichotomy: if you speak against the genocide in Gaza, you must understand that Hamas' struggle is legitimate, or else if you condemn Israel and Hamas at the same time, then you are a hypocrite. This false dichotomy also applies to the war in Ukraine, where the logic used is that if you denounce the genocide in Gaza you must support the Russian government's persecution of Catholics and the special operation in Ukraine.
