Here is a much better quote from a hero of mine:

'Tolerance is not a Christian virtue. . Charity, Justice, mercy, prudence; these are Christian virtues. In fact tolerating grave evil within a society is itself a form of serious evil'.

    Archbishop Chaput.

I was more than slightly surprised the other day when I read a commentator say that Many Catholic Bishops are reluctant to comment on sexual perversion in case they are thought of as closet perverts themselves.

I find as I get older I could care less what people think about me and my beliefs. I am puzzled that mature adults could back down from such a supposition. What on Earth does it matter what people think if you are testifying to Catholic Truth? It is as though they were still children.
Alarming; I hope this is not true.

As Pope St John Paul said , truth is not arrived at by Democratic consent.
How can anyone claim to be a fully mature adult when they worry about what others think about their deepest held beliefs?

How, when the moment comes..as come it will...will they be prepared to die for the Faith if they will not even uphold it in the face of a little ridicule?

All sex even within marriage that is not open to life is sinful. Complete sodomy between a husband and his wife is no less sinful than that between two men. Contracepted sex within marriage is sinful. In simpler terms all acts involving 'spilled seed' are sinful. No matter what the perverts come up with, they cannot lend validity to sodomy without demolishing the entirety of the Catholic doctine of sexual morality.

Yes as the cryptic statement from Cardinal Farrell said the Church is on "A path from which there is no exit"

Nail meet hammer. This is the real crux of it. An issue which some in the church (and especially those outside it) would like to sweep under the rug completely so as not to offend anyone with what are now considered rigid Catholic teachings. The world likes to drag it out from time to time in movies and TV to ridicule and portray those who adhere to this as boring and even perverted. Mocking it as an impossible standard to uphold and never painting it in a light which is attractive. It makes sense when we read about some who say that sins of the flesh are minor in comparison to others when taken in this context and then rationalize and make endless excuses for the inability to live up to them. Making them seem impossible standards in a world in which we are portrayed as hairless monkeys given to the whims of animal instincts and desires.

On the other hand, I would say that we are living in a time when the over all majority of society is raised in total ignorance of these teachings and certainly does not have the self discipline that it requires. So I suppose it can be argued that the church has softened its stance on them to try to bring people gently to the truth. I find it is hard to accept this argument when one sees churches given over to same sex blessings and annulments by demand though. Not to mention the issues with clergy forsaking their vows.

The softening of stances only leads to slippery slopes, even if well-intentioned. The Catholic Church has, heretofore, taught that the only legitimate sex is that between husband and wife that is open to life. The mainstream Protestants were of the same view until 1930. Within that one limitation, the Church was surprisingly non-rigid. Provided that stance is fulfilled, husband and wife are free to do as they wish, within the limits of dignity. Far from being impossible, the majority of people throughout many centuries of Christian civilisation managed to adhere to it.

I agree completely. That's not the story we are being led to believe though is it. They won't come right out and say it of course.

It is going to take a miracle for things to change.

I'm not sure if the members who don't live in the USA are aware of the Jussie Smollett case which occurred recently.

You can watch just a few minutes of the following video and I think you'll understand why I'm saying that only a miracle will change things. The Chicago Chief of Police states how Chicago is very proud of their pride parade, etc. He uses this as an example of how the city is gay friendly. Ultimately the Jussie Smollett's of the world have won. I'm not saying that anyone should be bullied, etc. for any reason but it seems to me this "pride" movement is calling the shots more often than not.

The press conference begins at @ the 7 minute mark.

What we need is a "Love Thy Neighbor Parade" and a "Love Thy Neighbor Month" as opposed to a Gay Pride Parade and a Gay Pride Month.

What he said in Chicago has become the norm. Now that there is normalization (AKA celebration and "pride") the persecution will begin in earnest even by those who are not part of their cause because it is simply not enough to live and let live. It never is. The mere existence of anyone or anything that pricks the conscious is enough to see to that. It will never be enough.

Hey, what are the odds? Coincidence?

It is a bit like walking down a certain road; the further you walk down it the harder it is to turn back. We,as a Church, began to walk down a certain road when we rejected, 'Humnae Vitae', now we are so far down the road we are in a complete jungle. Totally lost. If you try to tell people the truth now they think you are crazy.

I have sympathy for that police chief, who seems to be merely covering his back lest Smolett, a self-declared homosexual, attempts to twist his investigation into an act of homophobia, rather than the objective search for the facts that it happens to be. This police chief seems, to judge by his statements about the role of the liberal elites in stoking the controversy, a man of considerable integrity.

I don;t think they are so much covering up as thinking they never did anything wrong in the first place.

    It's just that gross.

Well, the fact that they refuse to even mention the word 'homosexual' is very telling. They know that homosexual acts will not be acceptable to the majority of the Catholic laity. So they just use any other word (eg. misconduct) but not 'homosexual'.

Humanae Vitae in hindsight appears to be the moment when "all hell broke loose." Rebellion in the Church across the board. Priesrs bishops and laity all scorning and deriding Pope Paul for listening to the Holy Spirit. (It is said he wanted very badly to change Church teaching but in the end against his own will he couldnt)
