It's not just at government level, but now even at a professional baseball game. That the "crowd" would go wild in applauding this public display says so much about where we are as a country and most definitely shows what us coming as this activity is legalized. Talk about having no respect for what is still the majority by highlighting and exposing youngsters to this behavior is in my mind the greater act of evil. Dear Fr. Flannery, It is sad you judge the Church for judging "incorrectly" about same-sex orientation. You clearly state that since such orientation is from God it is natural and good; thus sexual acts engaged in as a result are also good. Do you forget that every sin one pursues is perceived as a good. Based on your premise, a solid foundation for moral theology is demolished, natural law is demolished, and the wisdom of the world now becomes the basis for moral truth. Now that's a scary proposition. 1Cor 1: 20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? I received today and am sharing with you all the message below requesting a fast on the remaining Fridays between now and the marriage referendum on 22 May. If this referendum is passed, Ireland will be the only country in the WORLD in which the people themselves will have chosen to have written into their Constitution that marriage is between two people regardless of their sex (every other country has had homosexual "marriage" forced on them through legislation alone, it has never passed by referendum). I shudder to think how gravely this would offend God. I was wondering today if we are all not being infected by this to some extent. For instance I was wondering if I am not as shocked by all this as I should be. Going back say, twenty years ago if this topic had come up I would not only have been pole axed I would have laughed this all off as ridiculous, like something out of a sci fi film. Now I have lost that capacity to be appalled. So sad. But the angels must be outraged.
The government also today cut the funding to Accord the catholic marriage counselling service. This has to be a reaction to the bishops coming out against the proposed referendum. I did feel quite upset by all the lies today but then I remembered I am just a foot soldier who must keep marching ahead praying and keeping to my post. Please everyone lets storm heaven. Mary
