March 1962 Who says Padre Pio didn't have a sense of humor ? In response to a letter Conchita wrote to Padre Pio ,asking him to visit her in Garabandal , (maybe hearing of his ability to bi-locate) he responded: " Do you think I can travel about like that , according to my whim, and why not like Santa Claus, and come down the chimney into your home ? "
MARCH 1963: CONCHITA'S FIRST LOCUTIONS Conchita had been suffering a great deal ever since the month of January from not seeing the Blessed Virgin. Because she already knew the date of the Great Miracle, she felt how much one must be able to wait. . . actively. Assailed by the doubts of her entourage, she, too, was beginning to waver . . . when she heard Mary's voice interiorly for the first time telling her: "Have no doubts that my Son will perform the Miracle." This first of the two locutions that Conchita was to be granted as early as March 1963, gave her "a joy and peace still greater than when saw the Blessed Virgin . . . for then I have Our Lady inside me!," she explained. Fascinated by "this voice of intimate happiness without words," Conchita was henceforth "as certain," as she said, "that the Miracle would come, as 2 and 2 make 4!" Conchita wrote in her Diary that she preferred locutions rather than apparitions, but still more to receive the Eucharist. She explained that her locutions occurred when she was praying "either in my room, or at the Pines, or again at church." [From 'Garabandal' Book, page 171]
TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY: MARCH 3, 1962 A MYSTERIOUS (FIRST) LETTER FROM THE FAMOUS ITALIAN STIGMATIZED CAPUCHIN, BLESSED PADRE PIO OF PIETRELCINA, TO THE VISIONARIES OF GARABANDAL On this "first Saturday" of March, Conchita received a letter addressed to the four visionaries in the village. It came from Padre Pio, as the Vision would confirm to Conchita, during an ecstasy she had on the same day, telling them, among other things: "Dear children, this morning at nine, the Blessed Virgin asked me to tell you: 'O blessed little girls of San Sebastian de Garabandal! I promise that I will be with you until the end of times, and that you will be with Me until the end of the world. Then you will be united with Me in the glory of Paradise' ". "I am sending you a copy of the rosary of Fatima that the Blessed Virgin asked me to send to you. This rosary was dictated by the Blessed Virgin and must be made known for the salvation of sinners and for the preservation of humanity from the worst chastisements God is threatening to send us. "I am giving you only one advice: Pray and make others pray, for the world is on the edge of ruin. "People do not believe you: they do not believe in your conversations with the Blessed Virgin . . . "People will believe when it will be very, very late." As soon as she received this letter, Conchita sent Padre Pio a personal letter, with "a secret message from the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel and addressed to him." We do not know exactly when the famous Capuchin of San Giovanni Rotondo learned about what was going on at Garabandal. Thanks to the book by F. Sanchez-Ventura, La Vierge est-elle apparue a Garabandal? (Did the Blessed Virgin appear at Garabandal?, N.E.L. Paris, 1965), we nevertheless know the gentle "reproach" he addressed, at the beginning of the year 1962, to a group of Spanish pilgrims on the authenticity of the apparitions: "How many apparitions do you need, when they have been taking place for already eight months?" PADRE PIO’S LETTER CONFIRMED I HAVE FOUND THE PROOF I WAS LOOKING FOR TO VERIFY THIS WAS FROM PADRE PIO ! I have found the proof in the book " SHE CAME IN HASTE TO THE MOUNTAIN " pages 363-365. I was told from friends in Spain that the letter was not signed so that Padre Pio would not be in opposition to the church, so how come so many people were sure it was from him ? These pages tell how Conchita asked the Blessed Mother herself in one of her visits, and she confirmed it was from Padre Pio ! Q. Conchita, do you remember anything about the letter that you are said to have received from Padre Pio? A. “You know that I have moments in which I remember many things about the apparitions very well, and I have moments in which I hardly remember anything at all . . . Concerning what you now ask me, I do remember that I received in the mail a letter addressed to me and the other three girls: Jacinta, Mari Loli and Mari Cruz. I was surprised by what it said; and as it was unsigned, I kept it in my pocket until the time of the apparition. When the Blessed Mother appeared, I showed her the letter . . . and I asked her whom it was from. The Blessed Mother answered that it came from Padre Pio.”
THE BLESSED MOTHER'S 2 MAIN MESSAGES OF GARABANDAL Our Lady's 1st Message of Garabandal :October 18, 1961-- We must make many sacrifices, perform much penance, and visit the Blessed Sacrament frequently. But first, we must lead good lives. If we do not, a chastisement will befall us. The cup is already filling up, and if we do not change, a very great chastisement will come upon us. 2nd message:June 18, 1965-- “As my message of October 18 has not been complied with and has not been made known to the world, I am advising you that this is the last one. Before, the cup was filling up. Now it is flowing over. Many cardinals, many bishops and many priests are on the road to perdition and are taking many souls with them. Less and less importance is being given to the Eucharist. You should turn the wrath of God away from yourselves by your efforts. If you ask His forgiveness with sincere hearts, He will pardon you. I, your mother, through the intercession of Saint Michael the Archangel, ask you to amend your lives. You are now receiving the last warnings. I love you very much and do not want your condemnation. Pray to us with sincerity and we will grant your requests. You should make more sacrifices. Think about the passion of Jesus.” Many people ask me what does it mean when she said " Before the cup was filling up, Now it is overflowing" . It pertains to ABORTION. Conchita spoke quite openly about the developments by which men in the near future would rebel against God. On the day after Our Lady's last appearance at Garabandal, Conchita asked the author, "Can you imagine how somebody could kill children in the womb without thereby killing the mother?" The author spontaneously answered, "No! What gave you that idea, Conchita?" "Well, the Blessed Mother spoke about this and she let me know that this will happen with the overflowing of the chalice." [In her second Message of June 18,1965, the Virgin said, "Before, the cup was filling up. Now it is flowing over."]
Mary & The Brown Scapular When Mary appeared as Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, wearing the Brown Scapular over her arm, she instantly sent a message of its importance. It also connected the Brown Scapular to the devotions Mary talked about (the rosary, the morning offering, etc) to the Garabandal messages. MORNING OFFERING PRAYER Use this Morning Offering Prayer to start your Lenten season ! Our Blessed Mother said in Garabandal on October 18th, 1961, "We must make many sacrifices, perform much penance, and visit the Blessed Sacrament frequently. But first, we must lead good lives. " In 1945 Jesus told Lucia, the seer of Fatima, "The sacrifice and penance I now seek and require is the fulfillment of your state in life and the observance of my laws." Whatever your state in life may be you can sanctify all your daily actions if upon arising you recite sincerely the morning offering prayer. Through the "Morning Offering of Reparation" every act you do becomes a sacrifice. The word "sacrifice" means to make "holy." Once you have made your morning offering you make "holy" every act you do throughout the day. Whatever trial God permits to pass your way during the day becomes a penance — whether it be work, bad weather, rebellious children, sickness in the family, tight economic conditions or misunderstandings by relatives or friends. All these sacrifices and penances obtain graces the Blessed Virgin needs for the conversion of sinners. Padre Pio said it best, "If you knew the value of suffering, you wouldn't give it up."

2-20-2013 A Lenten Lesson from Conchita I learned something on the first day of Lent that year. I was speaking to Conchita, and she asked what was I doing for my Lenten penance. As I told her what I was planning, she remarked " and you do the rosary everyday ,not just for lent ,but everyday ,? " I said " Umm , after Lent is over, not everyday". Her next words hit me like a bolt of lightning ! Conchita said " It makes no sense to promote the apparitions, but not live the life ! To not do the Rosary is disobeying our Mother . " Wow, a major dose humility for yours truly.
Wow, thanks for the information on this thread, and for the great work all of you have done, Glenn and others. I must admit that after hearing some of the objections of other Catholics elsewhere, though I very much wanted to believe in Our Lady of Garabandal, I had some doubts; but thanks to the links here, almost all the doubts are cleared, seeing the letter of Cardinal Ottaviani, and the endorsements of St. Padre Pio and others is compelling for me. So I'm a believer now in Our Lady's important calls to us from Garabandal, Spain. Thank you again for the info and answers on this thread.
