TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY : August 8,1961 “Boys have thrown stones at us”. A little after 9:00 in the evening, the second session of that unforgettable day begins. Once again the four girls assemble in the church and before the main altar fall into ecstasy. They breathe deeply. Then they laugh, except for Conchita; she speaks, “Yes, as you wish, as you command . . . We don't care what direction we go. As you say . . . But we haven't given any proof, and the people don't believe.” Toward 9:40 they get up and leave the church in an ecstatic march. They stop at those locations in the village where ecstasies had taken place, and they pray there . . . Never had stations been made with such devotion in Garabandal. The people who silently followed the girls during their marches and devotedly accompanied them in their prayers were as if taken up by supernatural emotion. Toward the end of the march they were heard to say, “On what day will we see you again, so that the people may come? . . . The people say that this is a sickness of ours, and the young boys have thrown stones at us . . . Well, if you are happy with us, it doesn't matter.” And when it seemed that everything was going to end, they undertook an ascent to the Pines that all the witnesses have classified as impressive not only on account of the appearance of the four girls, but also because of the speed and lightness of their march. “She went in haste to the Mountain” Book 1, p. 177
THE BLESSED MOTHER'S 2 MAIN MESSAGES OF GARABANDAL Our Lady's 1st Message of Garabandal :October 18, 1961-- We must make many sacrifices, perform much penance, and visit the Blessed Sacrament frequently. But first, we must lead good lives. If we do not, a chastisement will befall us. The cup is already filling up, and if we do not change, a very great chastisement will come upon us. 2nd message:June 18, 1965-- “As my message of October 18 has not been complied with and has not been made known to the world, I am advising you that this is the last one. Before, the cup was filling up. Now it is flowing over. Many cardinals, many bishops and many priests are on the road to perdition and are taking many souls with them. Less and less importance is being given to the Eucharist. You should turn the wrath of God away from yourselves by your efforts. If you ask His forgiveness with sincere hearts, He will pardon you. I, your mother, through the intercession of Saint Michael the Archangel, ask you to amend your lives. You are now receiving the last warnings. I love you very much and do not want your condemnation. Pray to us with sincerity and we will grant your requests. You should make more sacrifices. Think about the passion of Jesus.”
I believed in Garabandal from the first moment I learnt about it. But I had difficulty overcoming serious sin in my life. Those words "but first you must live good lives" somehow got stuck in my spiritual brain and they would haunt me every time I fell. Those words were like a bench mark for me. So every time I fell I got up. I kept praying the rosary and with God's help and grace I was able to overcome serious sin. Those words are so simple yet profound. I give thanks to our Lady of Mt Carmel (of Garabandal) for helping me so much. This time next month I will be in Garabandal for the first time. I think when I arrive I will probably burst into tears of happiness and astonishment at setting foot in that holy place for I have had a desire to be there for over thirty five years when I first learned of Garabandal. Ave Maria.
PADRE PIO RESTORES JOEY’S SENSE OF SMELL ! Joey Lomangino tells the story on his second visit to Padre Pio, Feb. 18, 1963 “When I had my injury in 1947, I not only lost my eyes but I lost my sense of smell. So when I knelt down to receive Padre Pio’s blessing, and got the fragrance of roses that came from the wounds in his hands, I was startled and went against the wall with my arms up to protect myself; I didn’t know what it was. Padre Pio pulled down my hand and said in Italian, “Joey, don’t be afraid.” He then touched me on the bridge of my nose and my sense of smell was restored to me after being without it from the day of my accident in June 1947, which was 16 years.” Padre Pio’s involvement in Joey and Conchita’s lives, are confirmation of his unwavering belief in Mary’s messages and apparitions at Garabandal.
Hi Glenn, It is of course without consequence, but I was born on February 18, 1963. I like the fact that, on the very same day I took my first breath in this world, God blessed Joey with a miracle of healing at the touch of St. Pio. Conchita ,a grace filled life even through suffering. I spent my Saturday morning at a holy hour with Conchita and others. I had not seen her in a while due to all my operations, so I treasured talking to her in person again,and catching up on alot. I thought about how much she's been through and yet seems unfazed by this life. Conchita is now 76 and people don't realize that by the time Conchita was 17 years old, she was quite mature, and spiritually wise, and saw everything through those eyes, as she had now seen and talked with Mary for 4 years, and had several Locutions with Jesus by then. She chose to simply go on and live her life ( and vocation) with grace, not only as a "Visionary’, but as a Medical Assistant, eventually a Wife, a Mother, and a Grandmother. Her humility also played a big role in her cross to bear. Dealing with those who wanted to tell her how to live her life in her village. Having to keep the secret of the Miracle date , to the point where she didnt tell her own children who she was a long time ! They found out accidently seeing her picture on a book cover. Her illnesses, the loss of her husband and his illness. Not to mention having to tolerate me for more than 3 decades,lol. She goes through life with a grace-filled faith, the likes of which you rarely see. Her focus in life is not "the Miracle", but the "end goal " of life.....Heaven. I received a letter from Conchita on December 17, 2013, after the passing of her husband Patrick. Her life can be surmised by the last sentence of her letter, it's TRULY PROFOUND. She said: " Death for sure is not the end, it is the beginning, and the vanities of the world are a loss of energy because it distracts us from the reality of life, and true happiness. "
Hi Glenn, Your most recent post on Conchita, #7267, was poignant. Your commentary on her continuing spiritual fortitude and heavenward orientation, despite the distractions and disappointments of life, was inspiring. Thank you very much for sharing that. MAY, THE MONTH OF MARY For centuries, the Catholic Church has set aside the entire month of May to honor Mary, Mother of God. Not just a day in May, mind you, but the entire month, showing her importance and role in salvation to all Catholics. This custom of dedicating the month of May to the Blessed Virgin arose at the end of the 13th century. In the 16th century, books appeared and fostered this devotion. Two Popes that supported Garabandal have commented on this feast month. Pope Paul VI wrote “Mense maio” which is an encyclical promulgated on 29 April 1965, which focused on the Virgin Mary, to whom traditionally the month of May is dedicated as the Mother of God. Using the Month of Mary devotion as a means of obtaining prayers for peace. He urged the faithful to make use of this practice which is "gladdening and consoling" and by which the Blessed Virgin Mary is honored and the Christian people are enriched with spiritual gifts" . In May of 2002 Pope John Paul II said, "Today we begin the month dedicated to Our Lady a favorite of popular devotion. In accord with a long-standing tradition of devotion, parishes and families continue to make the month of May a 'Marian' month, celebrating it with many devout liturgical, catechetical and pastoral initiatives!" Mary always encouraged the devotion to the Rosary. So I encourage you now to try and say the rosary on a daily basis. It honors her, and is also our greatest weapon against evil, and to obtain the favors we ask of our Heavenly Mother. .
Just a question here. I saw a message on another website claiming that the Warning is Jesus' second coming and that all the evildoers will die.... And that it is almost here. This seemed really strange to me, because I thought that the Illumination of Concience would kill off some evildoers, but would lead to a brief period of mass atonement, before several more years of intense spiritual struggle before Jesus would come. Which is the right message that aligns with Garabandal?
That is totally false! The Warning will “change the conscience of the world.” It will show the bad that we have done, the good we failed to do and the consequences from it. It’s a grace in that we will see how God sees our soul and how He sees each wrong we did-we will see the difference between lying, stealing,Etc. the difference of all the Commandments we broke, the difference between them in Gods eyes. A blessing in that we will have a little knowledge of How God sees souls. But only our own. At that moment if we were to die, we will know exactly where we would go, Heaven, Hell or Purgatory. This is in NO WAY the 2nd coming. Only the Father knows when that is. The Warning is the world’s last chance to change. Mercy will be over. The Miracle follows in same year and if the world doesn’t change then the chastisement will come . In a time only known by God. Right now the chastisement is still conditional. The only people who will die will be those who will be shocked. Peace!
Where ever you are looking at, STOP ! Total nonsence and 100% wrong ! The "warning " is nothing more than God revealing to you the gravity of all your sins , and the sins of omission, to show you the harm you've inflicted on others and God. NO 2ND COMING, NO DEATHS (unless you have a heart attack from the shock, like an Atheist might experience). This is God's last act of Mercy.
TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY May 13, 1967 The Archbishop of Madrid, Casimiro Morcillo Gonzalez , issued a letter on May 13,1967, to the Bishop of Tacna in Peru, five days after the death of Bishop of Santandar Puchol Montis. It stated : “ The apparitions of Garabandal are a confirmation of those at Fatima fifty years ago. The Virgin Mary came once more to insist in Spain what she had already told three shepherds at the Cova da Iria : The bitter cup is not only filled , it is spilling over”. I personally see a great parallel between Fatima and Garabandal. The children saw the Virgin at the exclusion of others. The Virgin smiled at them. She promised them Heaven. She asked that they spread her message of the Rosary, penance and prayers for sinners. “ If there is a small difference in the last message, it is precisely its great clarity and the extent to which it admonishes the faithful, priests, and even Bishops. “ “There are therefore, sufficient reasons for the Holy Father Pope Paul VI to tell Conchita during their meeting of January 19,1966: “Conchita I bless you and with me the entire Church blesses you.” The phrase evidences the concern on the part of the Holy Father for the ruin that is sought to be introduced into the Church via false reforms.” And the Bishop of Tacna who relayed this to the Secretary of the Apostolic Papal Nuncio in Lima, added: “ Personally I suggest to your reverence that the events of Garabandal contribute to the enrichment of those of Fatima”.
