TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY NOVEMBER 4, 1961: THE VIRGIN OF MOUNT CARMEL'S CONCERN FOR THE CHURCH The Blessed Virgin warned the four visionaries that their daily ecstasies would cease temporarily from November 18 on. Pressed by the "Special Commission," Msgr. Fernandez invited Don Valentin to take a "holiday." This would keep the pastor away from the village for almost two months during which time the girls each had only one apparition. Excerpted from 'Garabandal' Book, page 117 It seems that Our Lady didn't like the conclusions of the "Special Commission", which was denying the supernatural events of Garabandal. I think She also didn't like the idea of removing the pastor from his post in that special village . He was close to the girls and helped them spiritually, a 'good fatherly priest' and believer in the apparitions.
In one of my visitors to Garabandal I also saw Paquita walking through the village with her bell. I also met Ed Kelly, an absolute connoisseur of Garabandal. I was able to ask him a lot of questions and he told me a lot about what happened in Garabandal. He has written a first-class book „A walk to Garabandal“ that I can recommend to anyone interested. May God protect them both.
I didn't get a chance to post this yesterday, so I'm posting it today. TODAY IN GARABANAL HISTORY :NOVEMBER 4,1962 Garabandal and the Holy Shroud Only after Father Eusebio Garcia de Pesquera had written his comprehensive book on Garabandal, SHE WENT IN HASTE TO THE MOUNTAIN, did it come to light that the Shroud was mentioned at Garabandal. It was during one of Conchita's ecstasies when the Blessed Virgin spoke to the visionary about the Sabana Santa (Spanish for Holy Shroud). Among the spectators at that ecstasy was the Marquesa de Santa Maria, an excellent witness, and it was from her that Prof. Jacques Serre learned what the Virgin said about the Shroud. The Marquesa heard Conchita repeat the words of Our Lady: "It is the divine imprint of my Son."

"When saying good-bye, she kissed us, and it was like this . . . We didn't feel any physical contact and at the same time we weren't able to advance further, since there was something there that prevented us from doing it. We wanted to touch, and our hand didn't touch anything on arriving at her, nor was it able to continue further. CARDINAL ALFREDO OTTAVIANI Prefect for more than twenty years of the Sacred Congregation of the Holy Office, which, in 1966, became the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Ottaviani was, in his special function of "guardian of the faith," in a good position to evaluate the risks of manipulations and travesties of the Evil One, something that very often occurs in those particular matters of apparitions, visions, revelations, etc. . . It was therefore, with prudence, that, one might remember, he first listened to Conchita in January 1966, at the Vatican. The initiatives that the Prefect of the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith took, right after his conversations with the visionary, facilitating her meeting Pope Paul VI, in private, allows us to suppose, however, that his opinion was already favorable. . . Not, however, without mentioning how Jacinta herself was to be introduced to Cardinal Ottaviani, in 1975, for we know the astonishing exhortation he then addressed to her: "We must pray a great deal, Jacinta, so that the Church may acknowledge Garabandal," after . . . having told her that 'he believed in the supernatural character of Garabandal'! TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY NOVEMBER 9,1966 Notes recorded by Mother Nieves ( the directress of Conchita's college ) "Conchita's Recollections" Mother Nieves tried to lift up her spirits, telling her that when the (spiritual ) darkness passed she would enter into the fullness of God . . . Conchita— "What a joy if it were like that! But could I possibly experience more joy than I have experienced in the past? The apparitions of the Virgin filled me with happiness. But the locutions of Jesus are much better. I don't understand ... It is something superior ... I pray that He accomplishes His will in me."
GARABANDAL CONFERENCE IN TORONTO 11-9-96 WITH JOEY LOMANGINO AND JACINTA MOYNIHAN. I thought it would be a wonderful for those of you who have never heard Joey speak about his life, accident, conversion, meeting Padre Pio, trips to Garabandal, and the Warning and Miracle. I was blessed to accompany Joey and Marilyn Lomangino to Toronto for this Garabandal conference. Today in Garabandal History: Nov.12,1966 I found another one of those great little stories, on how our Blessed Mother performed “small miracles “ all the time ,that went unnoticed until years later . This story comes from when Conchita was in school in Burgos, under the direction of Mother Nieves Garcia. This story was revealed to Mother, by Conchita on Nov.12,1966. Conchita speaking to Mother Nieves : “You know Fr. Collin? Now he is trying to pass for the Pope ( he is a Frenchman with a small group of followers who called himself Clement XV ) he was in my village. He wanted to speak with me but my mother wouldn't allow it. The people ended up throwing him out of the village. Well when I was in Rome, they showed me a picture from a newspaper in which I was shown at Fr. Collin's side, and it mentioned there that he had been with me and many other lies. I deny this since I have never been with him. They make up many things like this. One day a woman came to my village and insistently asked me to inscribe a card for her. I wrote nothing more than "Ask that God bless our only Pope his Holiness Paul VI." I don't know why that occurred to me. A little later a priest I know well, came running up and said to me " What have you written for that woman ? She is a Mason, a supporter of Fr. Collin". Amazing !
TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY NOV. 13 ,1965 ARE YOUR HANDS EMPTY ? The Last Apparition at Garabandal November 13, 1965, was a day mixed with joy and sadness for Conchita. The Virgin appeared with her Child to the teenager but it was to be for the last time at Garabandal. As Mary had already indicated this was to be a special apparition for kissing religious objects and Conchita had many with her. After kissing the articles, the Virgin said: 'Through the kiss I have bestowed on these objects, my Son will perform prodigies. Distribute them to others. Talk to me, Conchita, talk to me about my children. I hold them all beneath my mantle. This will be the last time you will see me here but I shall always be with you and with all my children. Conchita, why don't you go and visit my Son in the tabernacle? He waits for you night and day." Conchita said to the Virgin, "I am so happy when I see both of you. Why don't you take me now to heaven with you?" She replied, "Remember what I told you on your patronal feast day? " When you present yourself before God, your hands must be filled with good deeds done for your brothers and for His glory. At the present time, your hands are empty."
NOVEMBER 13, 1965 (MARY NOT WET IN RAIN DURING AN APPARRITION) Conchita: " As I have already said, it was raining heavily, but the Blessed Virgin and the Child Jesus were not at all wet. As for myself, while I was seeing them, I was not aware it was raining, but after the apparition, I was soaked wet." From “Conchita’s Diary” Chapter 9
NOVEMBER 14, 1965: CONCHITA OPENS UP WITH GERMAN EDITOR ALBRECHT WEBER The reason Albrecht was at Conchita's house was ,this is the day after the very last apparition of the Blessed Mother (Nov. 13, 1965 ). The German publisher was at the village on the very day Conchita had her last apparition of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel. During his stay, he had a series of conversations with Conchita, of which he published certain excerpts in 1993, in his fine book, “Garabandal, The Finger of God” In the presence of Aniceta, Eloisa Deguia (Madrid), and his own sister, the conversations bore, among other major topics, on the future "Unity of the Church," on "abortion" as well, about which Conchita, astonished, pointed out to Weber that it would cause the Cup of divine Wrath to overflow! The Blessed Virgin had spoken about this unfortunate practice to the visionary, in terms that had left her stunned. Indeed, at the time, Conchita did not understand "how it was possible to kill a child in his (or hers) mother's womb without killing the mother at the same time . . .!" Anima Christi Throughout the period of the apparitions, Saint Michael brought Holy Communion to the visionaries on days when mass was unavailable in the village. It is worth recalling his instructions on reception of the Eucharist. Before receiving communion he requested of the children to say an Act of Contrition and before thanksgiving after reception he taught them to say the Anima Christi (“Soul of Christ”) of Saint Ignatius Loyola. Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. O Good Jesus, hear me. Within your wounds hide me. Permit me not to be separated from you. From the wicked foe, defend me. At the hour of my death, call me and bid me come to you. That with Thy saints I may be Praising Thee, forever and ever. Amen.
November 16,1966 : Conchita (on being judged ) interview with Mother Nieves : “Sometimes they judged me bad without reason. I remember that one day the guards told me something bad that had been said about me. I let out a laugh, because I didn't understand. They became angry at my laughter. Later I mentioned it in my home, and everyone was upset. LEVITATION OVER A WALKING BRIDGE ! “ I know of many cases of levitation that took place at Garabandal. One case was photographed, and its copy on slides has been spread throughout the entire world. It is interesting to note that the photographer noticed the actual phenomenon only after the film was developed. Another levitation took place at the very small bridge ( now gone ) which was in front of the church. On that day, the brook that it crossed was full. The four girls, in ecstasy, were holding arms. The bridge was not wide enough to permit the passage of the four girls abreast, which is what they did nevertheless; one or two of them consequently had to pass outside of the bridge on the water, without, however getting their feet wet. “Memoirs of a Spanish Country Priest” by Father José Ramon Garcia de la Riva CHAPTER XIX “ Levitations” pg. 45 (Below is the bridge that was mentioned, now gone. )
TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY NOVEMBER 18,1962 There was an authentic sound recording of an ecstasy on November 18,1962. It was taken by a key witness of prime importance attending the phenomena of Garabandal: Don Placido Ruiloba. On this tape one can hear a voice, not the voice of Conchita, which suddenly breaks out and clearly pronounces the word …”COUNCIL “ . The only word actually recorded and preserved of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel, speaking at Garabndal. “Garabandal” book by J. Serre p.158. ( I do not know if this tape still exists, I have tried to find it, and was not able to.)

St. Padre Pio St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta St. Pope John Paul II St. Pope Paul VI I can’t think of another Marian apparition that a Visionary had such credible public support and defense of her visions in ecstasy. In addition to her 4 years of visits by our Blessed Mother, she also received several Locutions from Jesus himself ! Not to mention her life spent in quiet ,spiritual, humility, another great example of a true Visionary. St. Padre Pio: “Asked on another occasion about its authenticity, he answered curtly, ”How many times must she appear there to be believed ? “ St. Mother Teresa: "It was in 1970 that I heard about the apparitions of San Sebastian de Garabandal for the first time . . . From the beginning, I felt that the 'events' were authentic . ." St. John Paul II : “May God reward you for everything. Especially for the deep love with which you are making the events connected with Garabandal more widely known.” St. Pope Paul VI “ the Holy Father came to her and announced joyfully in a clear voice, "Conchita, I, the Pope, bless you and with me the whole Church blesses you."
November of 1966, Conchita wrote this to Rev. Mother Maria des Nieves. “ Just before the Blessed Virgin was about to leave us, she would give us a kiss. We did not feel any material contact, nor could we go any further because something was preventing us from doing so. We wanted to touch her but when our hands got close to her, they wouldn’t touch anything, nor go any further. We have held the infant Jesus in our arms, but we couldn’t feel his weight, nor any material contact, although he was truly there”. -“The Village Speaks”, by Ramon Perez, pg. 25
