There are scientists who say that what was once called astrology in the past was something completely different from what it is today, which is a grossly watered-down version of a science that was once much, much grander and nobler than astrology is today. What was practiced back then, which is what I believe the Magi were experts in, was probably a great and honest science that the elites watered down to draw men away from God. I meditated a lot on the story of the Magi over Christmas and there is so much for us to learn in that wonderful story, not the least of which is that God writes His Story in many places so that signs are given to all men of good will. Everyone can look to the skies, or at least that used to be the case - now in our cities we don't see much. Also, given the many references to celestial signs in Revelation, how can we discount it?
I'm curious why the shouting response. I'm genuinely searching for satisfying answers to strange discrepancies I come across in Garabandal's history. I still lean toward belief, as I know things are not always straightforward when it comes to prophecy. I was just reading various accounts of how Conchita was surprised and perplexed when Padre Pio died before seeing the Miracle...and it just struck me as odd...because if I was told a date so far in the future that Padre Pio would be over 130 years old (too old to have even the slimmest chance of being alive since God said no one would live past 120), I guess I'd assume it wouldn't be a normal "seeing the miracle", with one's mortal eyes before death, and so I wouldn't be perplexed when Padre Pio died. But I do see your point as well.
First, Conchita was never told that Padre Pio would see the Miracle "while alive". Padre Pio will see the miracle from wherever he is and so will the Pope. ("El Padre Pio verá el milagro desde donde esté y también lo verá el Papa.") I think that the words "from wherever he is" are important. There would be no reason to have them in that sentence if they were not. We cannot sure of the exact meaning, especially regarding the Pope, but time will tell. Second, nothing is impossible to God. Moses and Elijah witnessed the Transfiguration of Christ, yet at the time they were dead for decades. While I believe Padre Pio really saw the Miracle before he died, if God wanted Padre Pio might even be present in the crowd on the day of the Miracle. Third, as Glenn said. Moreover so many "little" miracles already happened in Garabandal, so why not the great one?
Yes I understand all of this. What I was specifically wondering about was why was Conchita perplexed when Padre Pio died...since she knew the Miracle couldn't possibly happen while he was still alive...knowing, as she did, that the Miracle was still 50+ years in the future and Padre Pio was already an old man. It's just so strange the way the story is always told... How Conchita was perplexed until she was assured Padre Pio saw the Miracle before he died. This infers that Conchita expected him to still be alive when the Miracle happened. It certainly doesn't indicate that she was thinking he'd see it from Heaven, or come back to earth for the event. It just seems kind of confusing.
I think that Conchita was a very young girl in an isolated village with a very simple faith of the people there. If God said he would see the miracle she took it quite literally and even though she was older when Padre Pio died, she still had that simple faith and was confused. She perhaps looks back on that little girl now and smiles at her simplicity.
MARY WILL GIVE TIME FOR THE MESSAGE TO BE SPREAD Fr. Laffineur asks : “Many believers in Garabandal want to work for the spread of the Virgin’s messages. But they are concerned because of the obedience that they owe to their bishops . . . What do you have to say about this? “ Conchita: “That’s very pleasing to the Virgin. She likes that very much. She desires us to work at spreading her message. But also she wants us to obey the Church, so as to give more glory to God. And she will give time for the message to be spread, with the permission of the Church. “ “ She Went In Haste To The Mountain” BOOK 3, Chapter 11, Page 194 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pope Paul VI : "Conchita, I, the Pope, bless you and with me the whole Church blesses you." "It doesn't matter; tell these gentlemen that it is the Pope who has said that it is most important and most urgent to make these messages known to the world."
Except even the early Church Fathers, and before them, the Jews, condemned astrology.... https://www.catholic.com/tract/astrology But we are not in the first century A.D. now. We have the unchanging centuries long teaching of Church that Astrology is a grave sin. So analyzing events now through the lens of Astrology and it's "ages" is like asking a demon to grant you knowledge about past and future events. If you think my statement against Astrology is too strong...Look at the statements of the Church Fathers in the above link. Astrology should not be praised. It was, and is a grave sin according to the Church.
Padre Pio was 81 when he died in 1968. When I was Conchita's age I couldn't tell you if someone was 61 or 81. Niether did I know modern people don't live past 122. So if she estimated his age at 61, that would put him at 115 today. Not unreasonable. But being young, I doubt it ever occurred to her to do the math. Until I looked it up just now, I would have guessed the oldest person living today would be around 135; Padre Pio's age today if he had not died. And I am a 60 year old who went to a "prestigious university" hahaha.
EXACTLY! 100%. And May I add because of all of what you said about Conchita then, which again is correct, when she was told the date of the Miracle she just listened to and accepted it. (Although she at first wanted the other girls to know and help too and not just her alone per her own words) but she wasn’t and didn’t think of things at the time being told date like: “St Padre Pio would be old then. Or this person would be over 100, etc etc) she was simple and didn’t think that way. Especially too Bec at that time St Padre Pio was still alive and died years later. When he died & only then did she think of his death & how is he going to see Miracle now etc? Of course that was answered shortly after as we all know. God Bless Conchita. St Padre Pio, Pray for us! Peace!

Hey Glen, I was watching an old interview with Conchita where she says that the miracle will happen in either March, May, April, or June. Do you think it is possible that it could be on Corpus Christi? Corpus Christi 2022 is on Thursday, June 16th, while Corpus Christi 2028 is on June 15th. Since St. Tarcisius(August 15th) is a Martyr of the Eucharist, I guess he could also be celebrated on the same day as Corpus Christi. What do you think?
That was her original statement , but later interviews revealed in will be in April. I have posted it here many times, but I will again for you. No to the other days you mentioned, it has to be April 8-16th. Even St. Tarcisius fits the description,BUT not the feast day,August 15. "We Now Know That The Miracle Will Happen In The Month Of April ..." Interview with Father Gustavo Morelos Reprinted with permission from The Vigil January - April 1988 While in Rome, Maria Saraco met with Father Gustavo Morelos on May 6,1986, and did a tape-recorded interview with him. Father who is Mexican was ordained a priest 28 years ago. He is the founder of "The Sons of The Divine Will." He conducted a serious 3-month study of the Garabandal Apparitions with the permission of his bishop during his stay there in 1965. He was also a great and personal friend of Padre Pio. Father Morelos is responsible for introducing Our Lady of Carmel of Garabandal to the entire South American part of the world. Q. Did Conchita ever reveal anything special to you? A. Well, she used to say to me that if I guessed the day of The Miracle that she would tell me, so I would try to guess the date but I never did. Every time I would give her a date she would say, "No that's not it." Until one time she said, "I will help you to guess. It will happen between the months of February and July and it will be between the 7th and the 17th, but I will not tell you which year." She assured me that The Miracle would not happen in the month of May. I enjoyed talking to Conchita about this while trying to guess the date... Of course, only Conchita knows the exact date and year which she will announce 8 days before it happens. However, in the book, "Miracle at Garabandal" authored by Harry Daley; page 89, Conchita is quoted as saying, "I will also tell you that it (meaning the Miracle) is going to happen either in April or May. Since she had already assured Father Morelos back in 1965 that the Miracle would not happen in May, it can safely be concluded that April must be the month in which it will take place. I spoke to Conchita about all these details as recent as April 25, 1988 during a telephone conversation, and while she was not able to recall saying what she did to both Father Morelos and Harry Daley, commenting that she had not read his book, she did not deny saying them nor did she contradict April as being The Miracle month. I pointed out that I intended to publish this information in "The Vigil" unless she said it was not true which she did not do, rather her reply was, "You can do what you want."
SAINT JOSE MARIA ESCRIVA AND GARABANDAL On October 6, 2002, Pope John Paul II canonized the founder of Opus Dei in St Peter’s Square, Rome, in the presence of more than 300,000 people from all round the world. His feast day is June 26th. The link between St Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer with the Garabandal apparitions is not well known. In the summer of 1962 he spent a few days on holiday in Suances, Cantabria, during which he visited Garabandal, accompanied by several young men , probably members of Opus Dei. He spoke cheerfully and profoundly to the girls, an experience they still recall fondly after all these years. The visit was not unusual since at that time, and up until the Official Note of the Bishop of Santander of 7 October 1962, many priests visited Garabandal. As it happens, news of this visit came out by chance years later when somebody showed the girls a prayer picture for God’s favour through his intercession, printed during his canonization. It was then that the girls joyfully recounted the meeting. He would not have risked his reputation if he did not believe in the apparitions, and tell others about his trips to talk to the girls. This was also confirmed by Mother Nieves. Mother Maria de las Nieves García affirms that one of the seers (Mari Cruz) confirms the presence of the founder of Opus Dei in the town during the apparitions. Mari Cruz personally told Pueblo de María that the saint remembers him perfectly with his cassock, that he was very smiling, that he would go up with young students and that he would take out candies from the pocket of his cassock to distribute to the children present. https://www.gloria.tv/video/jPSe82pAqv8P2arkSMTbzqMe4 Video with Mother Neives (in Spanish ) ** Satiago Lanus affirms he visited Garabandal up to 3 times, expressing great intrest in the phenomena” -“Garabandal,Message of Hope”, Fr.Luis Saavedra, page 245.
SAINT JOSE MARIA ESCRIVA EXPERIENCES THE WARNING ! Saint Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer, testified to have experienced the grace described by Conchita in the “warning”. On the 27th of April 1954, the Founder of Opus Dei finds himself on the brink of death: he suffers anaphylactic shock. Reactions like this are almost unavoidably fatal. Blessed Alvaro del Portillo, who was with the Saint during that entire day, gives him absolution in articulo mortis. A moment later the founder of Opus Dei was dead. Fr Alvaro testifies to this. But hours later St. Josemaria recovers and says : “Alvaro my son, I now know how it will be when I’m dead”. Effectively on that day the Lord permitted St. Josemaria to see his whole life, with great rapidity, as if it were a movie. For St. Josemaria this was in anticipation of God’s judgment, like the description of the “Warning” of Garabandal. Mysteriously, after this episode, Escriva was found to be totally cured of Diabetes, never suffering any relapse or experiencing the need for insulin. It was an instantaneous and scientifically inexplicable healing, things of the saints. From : “Garabandal: Message of Hope” Fr. Luis Saavedra, pg. 186
It’s good to see testimony that a catholic saint experienced a NDE. I’ve read many of these and watched so many on video and this confirms what I’ve believed for years. We will see our life flash before us, the good and the bad. We will know if we deserve heaven or hell….and both absolutely exist. Those who have come back from death no longer fear death . Some choose to return and others have no choice because as they are told by heaven, they have not completed what they were born for…your purpose in life….we all have one. The only concern I have about some online testimonials is a “ new age” element among true testimonies. Some of these suggest that there is no judgment, and we know that is intentional misleading souls. Those that have visited hell, and came back to tell about it, have changed their life and have dedicated their life to saving souls from what they have personally witnessed….by Gods mercy.
No it cannot be Corpus Christi, Holy Thursday or Ascension Thursday, Conchita said it will be a singular Thursday for the miracle but none of those three Thursdays.
