" The Church is trying to provide a better choice " There are those within the Church who may not have a noble intent.

I know that John Paul 11 was a strong minded person, surely no weakling, but his objectives for the Church were rendered futile for a number of years before he died. I suspect that Benedict's directives were also being impeded.

    God Bless

It depends upon who is doing the teaching and what they are promoting/teaching? The church does not teach anyone.

I think I will become a homosexual abortionist. That way I will get lots of praise from "the church."

I understand Picadillo's frustration. Remember this?

I hadn't heard of this 'forgotten great' until praised by Pope Francis.

And also this lot --- the actors received the “Olive Medal” of peace, which were presented by the Scholas Occurentes initiative, who organized the Vatican conference despite pro abortion and anti-life record.

    I shouldn't care.

    But I do!

    (Sorry!)

    My issue is...

First, i would like to know, how or by who Our Holy Father had the meeting scheduled. But once the person is in front of you...what should our holy father say.

    He has to be CHRISTIAN.

    ba

If i remember correctly...if a garabandalist, waits in line to see Pope. Hands a statue of Our Lady to Our Holy Father. He accepts statue. That doesn't mean he approves vision. But its the Christian thing to do.

Since he established Scholas Occurentes I am sure he had a say as to who was going to get the medal or at least have a say whether this reprobate pair deserved the Olive of Peace Medal.

Since they both promote abortion and are key supporters of Planned Parenthood I can hardly think of anyone worse to give the Olive of peace award to.

But hay; Who am I to judge?

At the same time I would like to speak up and on behalf of the unborn who have no voice - what a grave Scandal and a Sham!!

Pope Francis signs a surfboard during a meeting in the Vatican with the "Schola Occurentes" - AP

(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis on Sunday afternoon met with members of the Pontifical Foundation ‘Scholas Occurrentes’ at the conclusion of their World Congress.

The Foundation is an international project based in Argentina that brings together schools and educational networks from different cultures and religious backgrounds.

The informal meeting, which consisted in testimonials, music, videos and a “question and answer” session between Pope Francis and those present, took place in the Vatican Synod Hall.

It came following a three-day meeting which featured representatives of the Foundation from across the globe gathered in the Pontifical Academy of Sciences in the Vatican to talk on the theme: “University and School: Wall or Bridge".

Amongst the public were personalities like Salma Hayek, George Clooney and Richard Gere.

The meeting aims to mark the beginning of an interactive initiative launched by Scholas Occurentes with the creation of a website,askpopefrancis.scholasoccurrentes.org where it will be possible to put questions to Pope Francis.

This virtual exchange will result in a book, to be published by Mondadori.

During the meeting Pope Francis also received the gift of an olive tree; he autographed surfboards and of course answered questions.

One girl asked him how to make the world a better place and Francis immediately said by “lowering the level of violence”.

A young Mexican girl spoke of how she was harassed at school, another young student talked of a letter sent to her by a sister working in Africa which contained photographs of children who had been abused.

In both of these cases, said the Pope, children and adolescents suffer the same type of “cruelty,” that is why our world, he continued “needs to listen, needs gentleness, so we can all walk together”.

And warning against an increased risk of “nuclearization” in the world, the Pope said bridges must be built.

He highlighted that words are not enough saying we must also speak with gestures: “a smile, a hug, a pat on the shoulder”; “we must listen to others, ask questions, and dialogue will provide the bridge” he said.

It was observed that the Scholas Occurentes relies heavily on social networks to further this dialogue.

Other topics touched upon regarded a hashtag campaign against bullying, a series of initiatives for the protection of the environment, the use of art and sport to promote Christian values.

"Those materials are directed to high schools, and it’s styled as a “complement or aid to the task of parents.”

"In recent years, many Catholic leaders have risen their voice to say that in some places, the right of parents to educate their children on matters of sexuality is not sufficiently respected, including Pope Francis. During one of his weekly Wednesday audiences he claimed the “educational partnership” between parents and schools is broken."

Then educate parents on exercising their God given responsibility - don't usurp it because you think they aren't doing a good enough job... Unbelievable argument...

Maybe make a mandatory class for parents before confirmation. They have mandatory classes for parents before baptism and holy communion as it is now.

Thank you so much for posting Father Casey's conference. His order is devoted to the spreading of the Truth.

When I was new to a parish on the northern coast, I eagerly joined a women's study group and felt right at home spiritually.

My new parish had not had a parish mission for a couple of years and I volunteered to organize it. I was turned down by the first ten priests that were contacted because of conflicts in schedules. The eleventh call was to Father Casey's order, The Fathers of Mercy. Father Frank F. came to the rescue and said that while he was suffering from a chronic illness, he would love to come if he could get a little help.

Father Frank tirelessly gave the most honest, hard-hitting, Holy Spirit filled series of talks that I have ever witnessed. He spoke with love and every single sentence was backed up with a reference to the Bible, church document, doctors of the church, and the Vatican. On night number two of the mission, several people left in disgust while Father Frank spoke about the sanctity of marriage, pointing out that gay marriage couldn't exist. On night number three, I started to receive angry notes and reprimands for inviting such a "hate-filled" priest. I started to feel a little sick. I came from a Dominican parish that told it like it was and where you had to wait in long lines to get to confession.

By the last day of the mission, attendance had been cut in half. Father persevered to the end and I was so happy that he got to fly back to Kentucky without the backlash that was poured out on our parish priest when he returned. I had hoped for support but that didn't happen. During the homily at that Monday morning Mass following Father's departure, our parish priest said that he prefers gentility. "Who wants a St. John the Baptist" calling us 'you brooding vipers'?

Well, they didn't ask for my help with retreats or missions after that. But I found a religious order that I could count on to tell me the truth and I would never be mislead by any of them. And they suffer for that mission, more than any of us will know.

    Thank you, thank you, josephite!

I was thinking that not all of us are cut out to speak about sex to our kids. My mother never told me anything... if she had I would have been so embarrassed. What I fight against is the content the kids are being shown in the schools today. This, in my opinion, is child abuse, especially when its aimed at children in infant schools! Absolutely Shocking!
