I don't see the social justice church. There was a push for a social justic church after vatican 2. But those rebels have gradually died out.

There's a proven link between Soros and PICO, and Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiago is on record (video) encouraging people to support PICO. On further reading, perhaps the Cardinal was following the Pope's orders. They weren't happy with some US Bishops, and their grantees were "engaged in a live fight with a faction of the church that seeks to curb the Pope’s influence on social justice issues".

Here's a link to the report https://s3.amazonaws.com/lifesite/opportunities-fund-memo.pdf The piece about the Pope's visit to the US starts near the bottom of page 12. The first time I read it I felt like someone had kicked me in the gut when it looked like a Cardinal had links with a Soros outfit. On second reading, I'm terrified that we are seeing the fulfilment of dire prophecies about the Church leadership.

At this stage, Janet, I feel compelled to remind you (and I wish someone would remind Pope Francis) that Almighty God is the Lord, the Giver of Life and that out of love He made man in His own image and likeness to know, love and serve Him here on earth and to spend eternity with Him in Heaven. To murder a human being, especially an innocent unborn baby, is to reject God's loving gift and to take upon ourselves the role of the Almighty by deciding who gets to know, love and serve God here on earth. Nothing can take priority over our duty to protect and enable the life God created to know, love and serve Him on earth. Yes, we have a duty to help mothers carry their babies to full term, to help lift people out of poverty and to fight injustice and discrimination but (and it's a big but) prioritising those rights over the right to life merely serves the purpose of the population controllers. The "breeding like rabbits" comment springs to mind.

Please spare me the usual comments about Jesus eating with sinners, Jesuit spirituality, or the Holy Spirit guiding this. Whatever "spirit" has put Christ's Church on the road to singing from the same hymn sheet as George Soros isn't the Holy Spirit I learned about in Catechism classes.

I'll pass on the next collection for the World Meeting of Familities. The last one was a circus with Christ's Vicar playing the role of the organ grinder's monkey. Soros can foot the bill next time.

    Hi Dolours,

My first question has to be..what is wrong with PICOS? I hadn't heard of this organisation until you posted about it. It seems they do lots of good work. Being interested in social justice issues doesn't make one a criminal.

I certainly don't think you have to remind the Pope of this, Dolours. He is a shining example of how we should treat our fellow man.

"The "breeding like rabbits" comment springs to mind."

You mean this one?......"Some people...EXCUSE MY EXPRESSION HERE...that in order to be good Catholics we have to be like rabbits"....... Take note.... the pope is actually saying that "SOME PEOPLE SAY we breed like rabbits. He is NOT saying this himself...and how many times have we heard this expression from non-Catholics? Note also that he also asked pardon for using their phrase.

John Paul also spoke on this topic. He told us it is not always prudent to have one child after another if there are problems. He said this just after just visiting the poor living in hovels in S. America.

Regarding dire prophecies... Our Lady has it all in hand.

    From an approved Seer

    http://www.miraclehunter.com/marian_apparitions/approved_apparitions/itapiranga/index.html

"God has given us a sign for our current times, with Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis: the Emeritus Pope prays in silence, in humility and worship for the Pope who must speak to the world and take action. Thereby, we must come together and pray a lot for the Church. Satan today creates confusion in many countries and he also wants the confusion to invade the Vatican. He wants above all to destroy the Church and thus attack the center of the Church, by removing the Pope and the Vatican. But the Virgin Mary intervenes to protect the Church, and that is why She appears in different places in the entire world. "

    God Bless you

I hadn't heard of them either so I looked them up. Here's their website: http://www.piconetwork.org/community-tools

They appear to be some kind of political activist group operating across different religions. They were founded by a Jesuit priest in Chicago who was inspired by Saul Alinsky but they aren't Catholic. Looking at how they operate, and reading up on some of their activities, their US operation appears to be a tool of the US Democratic party although they claim to be non-partisan. They have a Rev. John Beaumann, S.J. on their Board but they are certainly not a Catholic organisation.
Their membership is made up of dioceses, community groups, schools and other groups but an individual cannot join.

They receive funds from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD). I read a comment somewhere that they are the recipients of 14% of the funds of the CCHD. (Strange that with all the Catholic organisations struggling to keep their heads above water that the Catholic Church has so much money to spare for a group that is not Catholic.) Regarding the CCHD, it appears there was some effort to prevent them funding groups with anti-Catholic agendas. This "Catholic" reporter labelled those opposed to funding such groups as "McCarthyites" https://www.ncronline.org/blogs/ncr-today/catholic-campaign-human-development-under-threat . According to the reporter, whithholding Catholic funding from pro gay marriage or abortion groups is out of step with the Gospel and Pope Francis (at least she didn't say the Gospel of Pope Francis but that was in 2013 so who knows what new spin will be put on the original Gospels by the end of this pontificate).

Back to PICO. Soros isn't their only pro-abortion benefactor. The Ford Foundation is also on their list of donors.

Looking at their website, there's very little mention of God or Jesus. Catholic evangelisation is certainly not a priority, although getting Catholics to buy into their social justice agenda is covered. They have a downloadable 6-session study guide in the section devoted to the "Year of Encounter with Pope Francis". They have plenty of campaigns for ending racial discrimination, promoting "Women's Theology of Liberation" (I wonder whether Theology of the Body will get any plus point there, but somehow I wouldn't count on it), health care, criminal justice reform, and they're big on immigration.

They have issued plenty of press releases about all of the above topics as well as standing against anti-Muslim rhetoric, but I couldn't find any mention of persecuted Christians such as the Little Sisters of the Poor having to fight legal battles against being forced to pay for abortions. Come to think of it, I couldn't find a single mention of the right to life of unborn babies. They wholeheartedly supported Obama's ACA. I read a piece about them (can't find it now) saying how they were heavily into getting people to vote for their priorities the year Obama was elected, with many activists making very many thousands of phone calls coming up to the election. They would never actually say that they were campaigning for Obama but it isn't hard to read between the lines. They actually met him after the election to discuss the ACA. And the Catholic Church is promoting and giving funds to this organisation?

Now, Janet, you can delude yourself that this group is about promoting the One, True, Catholic and Apostolic Faith, but I didn't come down in the last shower and prefer to see them for what they are which is an organisation founded by a communist inspired priest that continues to use communist tactics to influence the language and direction of the Catholic Church. They take money from a man who sees himself as a type of God and who promotes abortion worldwide. If I can see them for what they are, why can't Bishop Maradiaga and the Pope? Why is this godless influence being promoted rather prevented from spreading throughout parishes?

I'll get around to answering the rest of your post later. I'm too tired and sickened to deal with any more of this today. The more I read about it the more it fits with the prophecies of the apostasy starting high up in the Church.

Obviously Janet, you are not from the United States. This is an old fight and the CCHD was largely discredited. Here is a piece by pro-life leader Phyllis Schafly:

The CCHD was promoted by the late satanist Joseph Bernadin. Please read Windswept House by Fr Malachi Martin to understand how the church has been under cut by prelates across the world including the late Cardinal Martini, of whom Pope Francis wrote a glowing forward for his biography.

When searcing for information about PICO, I came across this essay posted on a University of Notre Dame website: https://mobilizingideas.wordpress.c...ws-faith-based-community-organizing-grows-up/ Its about faith based community organising and uses PICO as an example because it is one of the two largest groups. Reading the essay, it's pretty clear how they operate politically in opposition to "convervative" groups while claiming to be non-partisan. According to the author, after the 2012 election, they reported:

"Across the network, PICO federations ran large-scale non-partisan campaigns to register voters, to inform and educate on economic and racial justice issues, and to get faith voters to the polls. Combined, PICO federations trained 3,200 grassroots volunteers, registered 54,000 new voters, knocked on 200,000 doors, had more than 600,000 face-to-face and on-the-phone conversations, and made 3.9 million phone calls. On Election Day, more than 500 PICO-trained poll monitors observed election activities in eight states . . .In the swing state of Ohio alone, PICO volunteers and staff made more than 400,000 phone calls and nearly 72,000 home visits, talking with Ohioans about jobs and economic justice."

This is how they claim to be able to affect federal policy:

Immediately after President Obama’s victory in 2008, 150 grassroots PICO leaders met with his domestic policy director to initiate a relationship with the White House. PICO was a major coalition partner in the successful S-CHIP children’s health funding campaign, and then immediately launched work on the campaign to pass Obama’s stimulus package. Both of these were dwarfed by PICO’s national campaign to support the Affordable Health Care Act. National Policy Director Gordon Whitman directed this vertically-integrated campaign throughout the network, which used social media, national call-ins to PICO’s 50-plus locals’ members of Congress, and traditional on-the-ground organizing. Whitman said, “Children’s health initiatives haven’t been sustainable in California” without national policy change. However, winning local health campaigns gave PICO credibility in the national coalition working to pass the Act: in “big complex coalitional fights you learn what is your value. We have the ability to move large numbers of people. Being able to do public actions at short notice on federal issues is very useful to moving federal policy.

I would take with a grain of salt their number of volunteers because I came across the website of an affiliate in Philadelphia calling themselves POWER. https://docs.google.com/a/powerphil...I6_kKmTG3EoTHQIkxrbquJi1ug7w/viewform?c=0&w=1 That group is also into Black Lives Matter type demonstrations and is currently involved in voter registration. This is how they tell their team leaders to count volunteers: "How many volunteers participated in total? Note: Count a volunteer more than once if they showed up to multiple events in one week. Ex: If there were two shifts in one week with the same three volunteers at each, the number of volunteers reported should be 6, not 3." They receive funding from the CCHD as well as from PICO, so I suppose you could say that the Church funds them both directly and indirectly. Gosnell having conducted his gruesome business in Philadelphia, I would have thought that saving the lives of unborn babies of all colours would make it onto the agenda of a group claiming to be doing God's work. I suppose they claim to be helping the babies who escape the likes of Gosnell while at the same time registering as many as possible potential voters for politicians who would put him and his ilk on the public payroll.

From what I can see, all these groups are enraged and demonstrate against police shootings of black adults, but there isn't so much as a whimper about the wholesale slaughter of unborn babies having their skulls crushed or spinal cords cut and their organs sold on for experimentation. And that's just in the US. Heaven knows what kind of cultural colonisation they are spreading to developing countries. God help us all if this is the direction of Christ's Church.

I said in my previous post that PICO was founded by a Jesuit priest in Chicago. It was actually founded in California when the priest moved there after doing community organising in Chicago.

Well I think there were some truth as well as some conspiracy stories in it. I also came to realise that the Church hasn't changed that much from Jesus' time. Out of 12...One betrayed Him...One denied Him, and the others ran away, except John. So the Church has their 'Judas' ' but thank God they also have their 'John's' too. The wheat and the Chaff!

Re MM ...I am never happy when I hear of someone ordained a priest who then leaves the priesthood. I believe he still did have certain faculties though.

The link Janet has posted is to a page from the US conference of Catholic bishops. I copy the first paragraph from it:

Response To Recent Attacks On CCHD

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has been repeatedly attacked by Judie Brown, Michael Hichborn and the American Life League (ALL) for several years. They allege that CCHD funds many organizations that take actions in conflict with Catholic teaching. In the past, they also have unfairly attacked CCHD and USCCB leadership.

In a stunning reversal of past policy Father Vincent O’Keefe SJ, former Vicar General of the Society of Jesus and a past President of Fordham University, affirmed that Malachi Martin was in fact granted a dispensation from all his vows in the Jesuit order except for chastity. This dispels decades of rumors that Father Martin was defrocked for having had an affair with the wife of a famous journalist. This was the false lie spread by past Jesuits to discredit Father Martin. Martin requested and received a special dispensation by Pope Paul VI to remain a Catholic priest and say Mass in private.

Ever since Father Martin’s scathing review of his former order The Jesuits: The Society of Jesus and the Betrayal of the Roman Catholic Church (1988) rumors were spread by members of this order claiming Martin was defrocked and expelled from the Church of Rome. Martin denied this charge until his death in 1999. Father Mitchell Pacwa – chief spokesman at the Catholic run EWTN would regularly hang up on callers who inquired about Martin on his live call in show.

Father O’Keefe was the Vicar General of the Society in 1965, at the time of Father Malachi Martin’s departure from Rome. Why Father O’Keefe decided to set the record straight on Malachi Martin is anyone’s guess.

The clarification appeared on the Malachi Martin yahoo e-group posted by a member who communicated with Fr. Tom Widner SJ, Secretary for Communication of the US Jesuit Conference, concerning Martin’s status. Father Widner questioned Father O’Keefe – now retired – and he recalled Martin’s receiving a special dispensation relieving him of all his vows except for chastity. The communication (see below) also promoted two other myths about Martin including the lie that Martin lived in an unchaste relationship. The message referred to an incorrect obituary of Martin which appeared in the New York Times. The lady in question was merely Martin’s landlady for whom he also acted as spiritual advisor. The communication also falsely reports that Martin requested release from his vow of chastity, another lie which was spread about the scholarly priest.

However, the fact that the Jesuits have confirmed that Martin was a valid priest his whole life and was not defrocked marks a radical change in Jesuit policy concerning Father Malachi Martin – they are now acknowledging his status as a life long priest.

Source: I spoke with Fr. Vincent O'Keefe, former vicar general of the Society of Jesus who is now retired. According to Fr. O'Keefe, Malachi Martin was indeed dispensed from his vows of poverty and obedience but not the vow of chastity. At the time Martin requested such dispensation, the Vatican was not dispensing priests who so requested such dispensation from the vow of chastity or celibacy. Fr. O'Keefe pointed out that Martin never married. His obituary in the New York Times, however, points out that Martin lived with a female companion.

More on the Marriage and Family Purge at the Vatican

When Sister Lucia warned Cardinal Caffarra in the 1990s that “the final battle between the Lord and the reign of Satan will be about marriage and the family,” she did not reveal the particular reality unfolding now: a relentless drive by Church leaders to loosen the Church’s constant teaching on the impossibility of Holy Communion for public adulterers (the divorced and “remarried”) and cohabiters who refuse to abandon their illicit sexual relations, spearheaded by a Pope with a divorced and “remarried” sister and cohabiting nephew.

The just-announced reorganization of the Vatican’s marriage and family departments, the subject of my last column, is quite clearly a tactic in this “final battle.” My last column mentioned that Italian Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, who is now the president of the soon-to-be abolished Pontifical Council for the Family, has been made president of Pontifical Academy for Life, while the new Dicastery for the Laity, Family, and Life will be headed by Dallas Bishop Kevin Farrell. As my last column noted, both prelates are “gay-friendly” and Paglia openly advocates Holy Communion for unrepentant public adulterers.

Other facts pertaining to this “marriage and family purge” at the Vatican confirm the reality of an absolutely stupefying attack on sexual morality from the very vertices of the Church. It was Paglia who, as head of the Pontifical Council for the Family, approved the first Vatican-issued “sex-ed” program in Church history, replete with indecent images and even recommendations that young people watch sexually explicit movies. Life Site News provides this executive summary of this horrific program, which blatantly violates the Church’s constant teaching against any form of explicit classroom “sex-education”:

    • • Handing the sexual formation of children over to educators while leaving parents out of the equation.
    • • Failing to name and condemn sexual behaviors, such as fornication, prostitution, adultery, contracepted-sex, homosexual activity, and masturbation, as objectively sinful actions that destroy charity in the heart and turn one away from God.
    • • Failing to warn youths about the possibility of eternal separation from God (damnation) for committing grave sexual sins. Hell is not mentioned once.
    • • Failing to distinguish between mortal and venial sin.
    • • Failing to speak about the 6th and 9th commandments, or any other commandment.
    • • Failing to teach about the sacrament of confession as a way of restoring relationship with God after committing grave sin.
    • • Not mentioning a healthy sense of shame when it comes to the body and sexuality.
    • • Teaching boys and girls together in the same class.
    • • Using sexually explicit and suggestive images in activity workbooks (here, here, and here).
    • • Recommending various sexually explicit movies as springboards for discussion (see below for links).
    • • Failing to speak about abortion as gravely wrong, but only that it causes “strong psychological damage.”
    • • Confusing youths by using phrases such as “sexual relationship” to indicate not the sexual act, but a relationship focused on the whole person.
    • Speaking of “heterosexuality” as something to be “discover[ed].”
    • • Using gay icon Elton John (while not mentioning his activism) as an example of a gifted and famous person.
    • • Endorsing the “dating” paradigm as a step towards marriage.
    • • Not stressing celibacy as the supreme form of self-giving that constitutes the very meaning of human sexuality.
    • • Failing to mention Christ’s teaching on marriage.
    • • Treating sexuality as a separate subject instead of as something integrated into the doctrinal and moral teachings of the Church. Indeed, as Life Site observes, this program “violates norms previously promulgated by the very same pontifical council.
But it gets worse. Francis has not only (as my previous column noted) made Paglia the grand chancellor of the Pontifical Pope John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family, he has also removed Monsignor Livio Melina, 64, as its President, replacing him with the liberal Monsignor Pierangelo Sequeri. It was Melina who, as Life Site points out, “defended the Church’s perennial teaching that remarried divorcees who are not living as ‘brother and sister’ are not to be admitted to Holy Communion.” Melina also bravely insisted that the disastrous Amoris Laetitia“does not change the Church’s discipline” and that “after Amoris Laetitia it continues to be the case that admitting to communion the divorced and ‘remarried,’ (apart from the situations foreseen by Familiaris Consortio 84 and Sacramentum Caritatis 29) goes against the Church’s discipline.”

Thus it is no surprise that Melina’s head has rolled in the marriage and family purge Francis is clearly conducting. It is no use denying reality: We are in the midst of an apocalyptic turn of events in the Church. After fifty years of reckless innovation in the name of Vatican II, now even the fundamental precepts of the natural law concerning marriage and sexual morality are under attack from within.

Faced with this reality, we must, as always, look to Our Lady in the midst of the tempests that have assailed the Church from her beginning, this one being the greatest of all. For as Sister Lucia also wrote to Cardinal Caffarra (a member of the conservative opposition at the “Synod on the Family”) in light of the Third Secret whose prophecies are now being fulfilled: “Don’t be afraid because anyone who works for the sanctity of marriage and the family will always be fought and opposed in every way, because this is the decisive issue. However, Our Lady has already crushed it’s [the serpent’s] head.”

God will not be mocked. Sooner or later He will bring this madness to an end, no doubt through the extraordinary mediation of His most holy Mother in keeping with the Message of Fatima, the prophecy for our time. Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!http://fatimaperspectives.com/fe/perspective883.asp

Chris Ferrara has a logical and honest mind and he has written good articles about the problems associated with the release of the Fatima third secret. Unfortunately, he is another unfortunate soul that has decided to discard the primacy of the Pope in leading the Church on earth. Worse, he has convinced himself so much of the falsity of the Holy Father that he sees his role in life to persuade others of his own mistaken views.

This latest item from him is just another example of his downward journey. It is very easy to criticize attempts to teach our youth about sexual matters. Mr Ferrara would prefer the Church didn't get involved in such a sensitive area! That is what is called a 'cop out'. It is a point of view but it is not an excuse for more criticism of the Holy Father who is not prepared to leave the youth without guidance.
