I think saints are eventually able to control their emotions in the same way a rider eventually tames a wild horse. They through faith are able to surrender to the Divine will in all circumstances and 'ignore' their feelings through prayer and sacrifice so that their intellect and free will are always God-oriented.

To get to that stage takes enormous faith. Like walking on the stormy lake without sinking.

Unfortunately, I am like Peter as I tend to take my eyes off Christ, look at the storm all around and start panicking thinking I have been abandoned. Instead, I should be surrendering my fears and trusting in God absolutely.

"That Mary remained a virgin her entire life is thus a De Fide doctrine of the Catholic Church"
Pope Francis didn't contradict that statement. He didn't say that Mary wasn't a virgin at the Annunciation or that she didn't remain a virgin her entire life. That Mary had already made a vow of lifelong virginity prior to the Annunciation is not a DeFide doctrine of the Church.

The title of the original article is incorrect and I am glad to read many posts here which attest to this. I think that Pope Francis was trying to reiterate what he stated on the feast day of the Immaculate Conception, that the lives of Our Lady and Saint Joseph were not easy and that they are an example for all of us.

Pope Francis prays for the protection of families to Immaculate Conception of Mary

    Virgin Mary | 2018/12/10 | https://www.romereports.com/en/2018...of-families-to-immaculate-conception-of-mary/

Pope Francis left the Vatican to pay tribute to the statue of the Immaculate Conception at Piazza Spagna in the center of Rome.

Crowds of people gathered around the square waiting for the pope. First he greeted Cardinal Angelo De Donatis, the vicar in Rome, and then the Mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi.

The people of Rome enthusiastically welcomed the pope as he passed through the streets. During his prayer to Holy Mary, he asked for her intercession to protect all families across the world.

    POPE FRANCIS
“You know, Mother, what it means to bear life and feel indifference, rejection and sometimes contempt around you. For this reason I ask you to be close to the families here today in Rome, in Italy and throughout the world, who are living in similar situations, so that they are not left to their own devices.”

The pope also prayed for leaders and the priests of Rome, for the seminarians coming from all over the world to study in the Eternal City and for the religious.

Afterwards, as always, he greeted one by one the sick who were waiting for him in the first row of the square.

Let's see if this bishop, who is spouting foul heresy in denying the virgin birth, is disciplined by the Vatican (don't hold your breath).

"The Bishop of Oporto. [Portugal] tells the Observador website that, 'we should never refer to the physical virginity of Mary.' 'The Old Testament says many times that Jesus was to be born of a maiden, a daughter of Israel, who was simple, poor, and humble. But this is truly just a reference to the full devotion of this woman to God. The gift of being mother of God was given to Mary because she had an undivided heart. What matters is full giving of herself...There certainly are women with a ruptured hymen who are more virgin in the sense of full devotion to God than some with an intact hymen.'"

Bishop Manuel Linda is, indeed, a heretic. He is part of a movement to attack Our Lady in preparation for the Man of Sin.

The Father possesses a kind of innocence I like. He is also very Evangelical. He makes me feel as though I were a million years old and totally cynical. . Such an American , 'Can do', attitude. I get tired out looking at him. He is very idealistic .

Ready to take on the whole world; like a young St Paul. Fair play to him.
But still , even so as a priest he must have encountered real evil in his time. I hope so, for if he goes down the path he proposes he will not be long getting face to face with it. Loads and loads and loads of it.

I must remember to pray for him. He is such a good holy young man. Though he makes me feel a 1000 years old. I can't recall when I had that degree of get up and go...if I ever had.

    Probably not.

Don't hold your breath. You'll explode waiting for the Vatican to act.

I pray his zeal gains wings and does not end up in him being silenced. He has big plans and I would assume many in the upper layers will not like that.

Fr Mark has been asked to cease and desist.

He wanted to ooze corruption out of the Church, seemed like a worthwhile endeavour to me.

I guess that ugly fish he spotted while crossing the water, did not swim too far away.

Truly a sign of the times when a priest can talk about nothing .... nothing but social justice in their homilies for 30 years and nothing said, but Whao to those priests who dare speak to the truths of the time. :(

Indy, Thank you for letting us know. It is very, very sad that Father Mark Goring was told to "cease and desist" and Father James Martin continues on and on and on.
