Well, we will all have to answer to Our Just Judge. No one will escape judgement then. Not one jot or one tittle.

As Fr. Pavone will retain forever the ontological change that came upon him during his ordination and that mark of priesthood can never be removed, even though he is forbidden to operate as a priest, were I to collapse in his presence he would be obliged to give me last rites - for that I would never call him 'Pavone.' Imagine calling someone who may save your eternal soul by a surname.

Terrible tragedy. This story was very hard to hear. :( I had no idea until I read this article why this priest was accused of blasphemy . The virtues of obedience and humility are critical for a priest, without them pride takes root. It is both heartbreaking, as well as a tremendous disappointment when a priest has been laicized. It is also painful for the Faithful to hear a former priest addressed as Mr. Pavone, or Pavone because it clearly diminishes the respect owed to him as a priest. That said, I think the author was pointing out the harsh reality that the world will now view him with secular eyes, sadly he will be no different than any other man. :( She did acknowledge the 'beautiful things ' that he did over the years, and this is a good thing to focus on. I agree Byron, we must pray very hard for the former Fr. Frank Pavone.

My heart breaks for him as a human being. His entire identity has been ripped away from him. Whether he “deserved” it or not, I from a pure human perspective he must be just so devastated. And again, not truly understanding the circumstances, I do question was there not a more charitable way to handle? Who knows…. Maybe the bishop tried? But again… very sad. Praying for Fr. Pavone

Fr. David Nix has a well formed opinion on this. Martyrs traditionally have been placed on altars. According to Fr. Nix it is debatable whether aborted fetuses are martyrs, but nonetheless, Fr. Pavone didn't place the fetus on the altar during a Mass. Therefore, there was nothing improper. Here's his video: https://padreperegrino.org/2022/12/fr-pavone-put-what-altar/

My comment: Nothing improper like having a witch place a plant representing the demonic, human blood loving goddess, Pachamama, on the altar of St. Peter's during the Mass . And it remained throughout the Eucharistic liturgy. That might well be the abomination of desolation.

Just shows you which side of the Catholic political spectrum Ms. Lopez and Our Sunday Visitor are on.

Has Ms. Lopez written any articles on Ms. Pelosi receiving communion at Bergoglio's private Mass after being told she's not a Catholic in good standing by Archbishop Cordileone? Has Ms. Lopez or other OSV writers dressed down the US bishops for supporting Catholic Charities, the biggest supporter of illegal immigration? Has Ms. L or OSV criticized Fr. James Martin for promoting sodomy?

Other than Bishop Strickland, the bishops really don't seem to give a darn about their fellow priest,s and they sure as heck aren't shepherding the sheep. However they do live in really nice houses, eat great food, and travel alot

No, no, no. See Fr. Nix's video I posted in this thread. Also, I've been to several FSSP baptisms where after the sacrament, the baby is placed on the altar and offered to God, not as a sacrifice --- just offered to God.

According to Fr. Pavone ( whether true or not) the blasphemic communication was when, during a heated to and fro on social media, he used the phrase 'god-damned politicians'. Not meaning it literally, of course. So, it doesn't actually specify in the nuncio's letter what the blasphemic communication was. Would putting a foetus on a home table, sometimes used as an altar, be blasphemy? Idon't know what constitutes blasphemy as such.

    Wow!
It seems truth becomes complicated, when we look at Fr Pavone.

I will pray for him, maybe that is what is needed.

The Church, the world, our families and every single thing in life seems to need so much prayer these days.
This then begs the question..... is there anyone or anything in life here in this valley of tears, we can trust?

    Psalm 2

    Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition

2 Why have the Gentiles raged, and the people devised vain things?

2 The kings of the earth stood up, and the princes met together, against the Lord and against his Christ.

3 Let us break their bonds asunder: and let us cast away their yoke from us.

4 He that dwelleth in heaven shall laugh at them: and the Lord shall deride them.

5 Then shall he speak to them in his anger, and trouble them in his rage.

6 But I am appointed king by him over Sion his holy mountain, preaching his commandment.

7 The Lord hath said to me: Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee.

8 Ask of me, and I will give thee the Gentiles for thy inheritance, and the utmost parts of the earth for thy possession.

9 Thou shalt rule them with a rod of iron, and shalt break them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

10 And now, O ye kings, understand: receive instruction, you that judge the earth.

11 Serve ye the Lord with fear: and rejoice unto him with trembling.

12 Embrace discipline, lest at any time the Lord be angry, and you perish from the just way.

13 When his wrath shall be kindled in a short time, blessed are all they that trust in him.

Things are very confused. But I would guess there are more and greater Saints than ever before in the History of the World at the moment. They may be hard to see but they are out there. I would listen to them.

The visionaries of Medugorje, who were personally trained by Our Blessed Mother herself from childhood, I would trust for a start. Cardinals Mueller and Burke I would trust too.

This is the third time I have posted Psalm 2 on the forum. When I was growing up in the 50’s, an anonymous person posted Psalm 2 at the beginning of the classifieds in the Washington Post every Saturday. As I remember it, it was done with great regularity.
    For what it is worth.

Yes Caroline that is dilemma. But the answer is we can put our trust in the Living God and in Our Lady. I think its a case of wise as serpent's gentle as doves. We must never invest in a person that hope and trust that belong to God alone. These days its so easy to make icons of people whether priests or politicians. I think a healthy dose of skepticism is in order when it comes to high profile people who are lionized. (Our recent political landscape in the US has proved this...we placed too much hope in a certain leader..."put not your trust in princes"
And in the Church....well the first to fall was Fr Ritter from Covenant House then some priests from the Charismatic Renewal and then Fr Corapi. Sigh. So I've learned. "Trust but verify"

Yes confusing times. God alone knows the answer. In Him we trust. In the meantime I pray for Fr Pavone and all priests and church leaders. Evil around us is so great now its easy to get into anger. We really don't know the answers. If Fr Pavone is being wronged and he deals with it with humility. God will vindicate him.

My understanding is that he was offering a Holy Mass for the aborted baby. Also,
I think this article was objective and honest.

Lord, pour your grace out abundantly that humility and justice will bring peaceful resolution. Let not pride nor vindictiveness hold sway. Mary Queen of priests, pray for us.

I am torn on this issue. The story I have heard on local Catholic radio is that his Bishop for a number of years has ordered him to do parish work. He has told him that he can still be a champion for the unborn however he is needed in the parish. To this, Father continually declines and not wanting to give up his global work or status as the head of priests for life. This is a big problem for me. The church has always been structured around obedience even when you may not like it, you are still to obey. The fact that Father refuses to obey his Bishop and calls to be placed under a Bishop that shares his interests and goals is putting Father first and not the church or what God is calling to do. Right wrong or indifferent, the greatest saints, priests, mystics etc always obey their orders. If Father chooses not to obey then this is cause for what happened to him. The local priest on the radio also said Father can come back as a priest if he chooses to obey the orders from his Bishop to be a parish priest which apparently that diocese is in great need of. God's vineyard is very large and everywhere. Father should obey his bishop and bring his work and passion to protect life to that diocese as ordered to do.

I think that Taylor Marshall jumped the gun on this, but I've yet to listen to the audience he gave to Fr. Pavone. Whatever comment I make will wait until I listen to Fr. Pavone. The highlight above makes me hesitant. Obedience is a true sign of humility.

Mary, Seat of Wisdom, pray for us.
