At least as a European, it's worth listening to the whole speech. I like Vance a lot. He speaks the truth, gives EU politicians a piece of his mind about the state of Europe. Of course, the left-wing-woke EU deep state will fight back and will be difficult to eliminate. The road to change in Europe would be very long. If the elections in Germany next week somehow lead to the AfD being able to participate in government after months of negotiations, that could be a start for the whole EU. I don't believe that yet. I think it depends on how much pressure the US government can put on German politics. Vance has spoken out in favor of the AfD participating in the government. The AfD will most likely become the second strongest party.
I'm afraid, Steve, that the speech didn't go down well with the European political elite. Zelensky, on the other hand, got a standing ovation. The response is discussed here:
A political upheaval would still have to take place in Europe. As a result, many people who currently belong to the political elite would disappear from the scene. It is obvious that they are now outraged by this. And it is also clear that the mass media will join in. Everything here is just as corrupt as it is being uncovered day after day in the USA in connection with USAID. This would require one or many European Trumps in many European countries, especially in the large countries that have influence on the EU bureaucracy. That's a utopian idea at the moment, but who knows. (At this point, let's ignore the possibility that political elites could only ever be two sides of the same coin)
I don't know much about the rest of Europe and pay little attention to local politics. Maybe I'm completely wrong but all I can see is controlled opposition. The woke stuff isn't going away anytime soon. We need mass conversions to see any real improvement and that won't come from political parties or revolutions.
Agree. I don't know how it could happen either. I pray for it. It could be that it's all controlled opposition and can't change anything in the long term. But in the few countries where there are right-wing governments, the woke stuff is partly disappearing. I don't know what would be possible at EU level if there were more Viktor Orbans in Europe.
Steve, here's the real crisis in post-Christian Europe: https://www.euronews.com/health/202...-european-country-is-having-the-fewest-babies Note that the rate in Macron's France is higher than Orban's Hungary. More than likely, that's down to non-Christian immigrants not yet being fully assimilated into anti-life French culture. If it weren't for those young immigrants, within a few decades France would likely be mandating euthanasia for anyone above retirement age requiring State aid for a reasonable standard of living and anything other than minimal healthcare. But will any of the politicians advocating for an ethnically "pure" Europe mention that on their party platforms? Of course they won't because, if they did, they wouldn't have a snowball's chance in Hell of getting elected. There's money in anti-life policies and the populace has been well and truly indoctrinated. Far easier to sow division on racial and religious lines than to face up to the cold, hard truth. Orban's not in the first flush of youth so his political career will be over, if he's still around, when mercy killing is the answer to Hungary's age demographic problem. Unlike the USA, every European country was Christian and sold its nation's soul for a mess of pottage. Barring a miracle, chastisement is coming to Europe. No amount of finger pointing will change the fact that we're all guilty of bringing this on ourselves, and no politician can save us. I hope and pray that I'm wrong.
Demography is a big problem, yes. No wonder with thousands and thousands of abortions everywhere. Chastisement will come. In principle, the many grievances in all areas of society are already part of it. God does not give us his commandments arbitrarily, we can observe the consequences of not obeying them. Our sinful way of life upsets the natural order. A cross on the ballot paper has little influence on this. In Germany, I have observed that more and more political activists from the so-called right-wing spectrum are converting to Christ. Not very many, but some. Some time ago, there was a call in some circles to take part in a 30-day prayer novena for a favourable election outcome. Realistically, there won't be very many people praying, but it's the only way out. Imo, there is no need for a ‘pure’ Europe. At least not in terms of ethnicity; if there were, a purely Christian Europe would be the ideal. We are light years away from that. What is obvious is that ‘right-wing’ politics has an intersection with Christian morality. Some right-wing politicians will label themselves as Christian for purely opportunistic reasons. As far as I know, Orban actually lives his faith. And his politics have a Christian flavour. In Hungary, a family is still legally defined as husband and wife (with children) and is subsidised as such through tax breaks. It's actually incredible that this is no longer a matter of course. Unfortunately, as far as I know, abortion is regulated liberally in Hungary, with a twelve-week time limit. Poland is by far the most Christian in this respect. But so what, there will only be a real improvement with God's help. Because of the prophecies for Europe, I expect chaos soon and then i hope for the warning.
A Protestant, bastardised version of Christianity won't save us. Ursula Von der Leyen is Christian as far as I know, and she's another war monger. The demographic problem must be staring them in the face, yet these nutcases want to send our young people to prolong a war that's already lost. One of the purposes for setting up the EU was to avoid wars in Europe. They're saying the Ukraine war could take 8 more years, which fits with the 10 year plan the NATO leader said they had a couple of years ago. From the sound of it, they're hoping to outlast Trump, gambling everything on his successor coming to Europe's rescue. Why would they even consider such madness? Have they a lot of money invested in the arms industry? I suppose we'll never find out the real reason. They've spent years dumbing down our youngsters. Filled their heads full of woke nonsense while letting them think that using ipads for school work made them tech savvy. All it did was encourage them to be end users - consumers - while in other, supposedly less developed, parts of the world children were learning skills that turned them into developers and entrepreneurs. We're scuppered, no invasion necessary. Pray, pray, pray, especially for our youngsters.
I think the problem is that we Catholics are too fond of the Cafeteria. The menu has a dish to suit every wayward palate.
An insufficient birth rate is the key instrument of God's chastisement. Even the USA's birthrate is insufficient. One prime example worldwide is Japan; The country will simply implode by 2070, a fact that will be solidified in the next decade. https://www.newsweek.com/japan-news-population-faces-extinction-amid-birth-rate-crisis-2012107 See also: https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/1cij3w0/fertility_rate_by_us_state_2022/ Notice that no State currently is at or above the necessary fertility rate to maintain its population. President Trump better not cancel all immigration! What did God say in Genesis; Be fruitful and multiply! But here in the USA young people believe "too many children" translates into burdensome. But children are a joy!
Cafeteria Catholicism is so very wrong. I pray God changes hearts. There's a reason why the Church teaches what She does...
I don't think that's correct because Baptism can't be undone. I think, and am open to correction, that the correct term is Catholic not in good standing, lapsed Catholic or automatically self-excommunicated Catholic. They're all Catholic in different stages of distance from the Church. The cafeteria's menu isn't restricted to so-called progressives but also has choices for conservatives. I'm no theologian and could well be wrong but that's my understanding.
Oh yes!! You're right, I forgot about Baptism lol. Those are the correct terms - being a lapsed Catholic, Catholic in name only... But tbh, I personally don't view those ppl as authentic Catholics since they aren't being obedient to the Church's teachings & true to the Magisterium. I understand if they don't know certain things but we ought to know & pursue our Faith. But, I'm no theologian either lol. Jesus has to give me all His wisdom lol.
Baptism can’t be undone, correct, but I think it’s just a matter of semantics. To me such people should rightly be called apostates or heretics.
