Honest question. Is Bowring not trustworthy? I saw his post linked elsewhere and thought it made a lot of sense but if he is heterodox I will disregard him.

Do you think the Blessed Mother made you think the forum should be offline until the 21st just for that reason? That maybe more will be made clear by then instead of lending ear to panic, Or confusion about our Holy Father? Maybe we shouldn't be back yet....

Greetings to all on MOG forum. without hesitation we are no longer in the fringes of the hurricane. When one looks at the ebola 'plague', big stock market hits, war fronts increasing in severity and dimensions, and needless to mention the spiritual confusion in the Church, one would have to be totally lost in this world not to see what is developing as we speak. Mark Mallett has been spot on in his blogs, with today's more bold then usual. Jesus I Trust in You.

I think it will be alright Charity, I am such a useless rat, but at least I know I am useless rat. perhaps I had to know this before reopening the forum. Oh God have mercy.

Actually as I was walking the dogs last night I remembered a really bad thing I did, a very, very serious thing I did many years after my conversion, what blew my mind was that I totally forgot about it , never even confessed it , How could I have done such a thing? How could I have treated it so lightly as never to have confessed it? I just started to pray the old Eastern prayer, 'Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God have mercy on me a sinner'.

The worst of it was, Charity, I sense and know there is even worse than that locked up in the cupboard of my heart.

    Sigh, sigh, sigh,

But at mass yesterday I recalled St Faustina. She reminded me of scripture. That the greatest sinners have the greatest demands on God's Mercy. So I am at the very front of the line.

But it is so awful, to know the awful things I know of before my conversion, but to be hit home with awful things I did after my conversion, oh..what was I thinking? Talk about a pin being stuck in your balloon. May God forgive me. How does God bear me? So many sins in repayment for such huge graces. Yuk. I wonder He does not just strike me dead.

Anyhow I was walking round the city last night in huge torrential rain right across the city ,causing flooding everywhere, praying about it and the state of the world and I just felt this strong overpowering feeling to open the forum again, to speak to people from the heart.

Oh Charity , I am the lowest of the low the very worst of sinners, grace is wasted on me. Totally wasted. But if even I, the worst of the worst can pray and beg for mercy surely there is hope for all mankind?

Pray convert , fast, say the rosary. Judgement is upon us. Pray, pray, pray.

    God's judgement is upon us.

    Pray, pray ,pray.

    Oh pray. Please, please pray.

God is at work. God has been dragging up old sins in my mind for the past few months - shocking really. I sometimes think was that really me? But it was. I am a poor sinner redeemed by grace. And I am deeply sorry.

But to be redeemed you at least need to know you are a sinner. And that is key to conversion. Seems to me in the rush to please the world the synod has forgotten the basics and fundamentals of the faith. My problem with the report is that mercy is being misused as 'cheap grace' to placate the world.

All are called to holiness through conversion. The pot must be cleansed from the inside out. Grace is not cheap. We were redeemed by the precious blood of the Lamb.

I think we are all in for a shock because from what I have read the Pope agrees with the synod document. In fact, it appears that he considers those who opposes the changes to be 'legalists'.

Pope Francis spoke of the “Doctors of the Law” who were “unable to understand the signs of the times.” They were, he said, “closed within their system, they had perfectly systemized the law, it was a masterpiece.“Every Jew knew what they could do and what they could not do, how far they could go. It was all systemized. And they were safe there."The pope noted that the Doctors of the Law "did not like” Jesus, he “was dangerous; doctrine was in danger, the doctrine of the law” which the theologians had formulated over the centuries. Pope Francis said that while the theologians had "done this out of love, to be faithful to God," they had become “closed", they had "simply forgotten history. They had forgotten that God is the God of the Law, but He is also the God of surprises."

I am a faithful Catholic. Thank God, the report is not the final word but can be amended and adapted and hopefully the tide will turn in the end and by next year hopefully something truly Catholic will emerge.

As for the Pope. He is my number one prayer target. Let us storm heaven for him that he will be inspired to lead as a strong pastor of the flock

Eh, excuse me Padraig, but I am at the front of the mercy queue - no need for jostling at this stage! ;)

    Re. the Synod:
I started to 'follow' Dwight Longenecker while the forum was down and he has some good articles that helped get me down off the ledge, e.g.

    http://www.patheos.com/blogs/standi...o-remember-about-the-synod-on-the-family.html

Personally I think today's Gospel nails it:
"Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed upon the housetops."

I think Pope Francis is creating an environment where people, most especially our shepherds, say what they really think about Catholic teaching. At least we can be in no doubt now - they aren't talking out of both sides of their mouths. Hypocrisy is being exposed.

But I firmly believe a smack down is on it's way.
We are on a serious grouse hunt and the bushes are being beaten. Those flying highest now, will be shot out of the air.

There is so much of the Gospel that can be debated but Jesus repeated 'go and sin no more' again, and again, and again.
I fail in this regard but a different gospel can never be proclaimed.

So get in that mercy queue early - it's gonna be a long one.

Love to you all. Kathy K where are you ???????

  16. Me thinks Pope Francis is making a list and checking it twice....eyes wide open.
    Prima donas like their limelight
He is going to listen to everyone--like he should
Then he will make moves that will surprise the world.
What a circus! The bloggers and media are the ones that are
truly showing their true colors! So sad!
I'd say some are closet MDM people! eeek!
Don't forget Ivan from Medjugorje said, "Our Lady said
this is a good Pope...a very good Pope!"
We were at the same luncheon at the same
    table.

If I may make my own response on this, I really don't think any Catholic should be getting upset about this Synod. But I can understand people getting upset if they do a lot of reading of the 'traditionalist' blogs. I have been going to read some of these blogs which began their criticisms from day 1 but eventually I had to stop reading them because there was just so much poison being spread.

God has given to the Church a most wonderful Pope whose saintliness will one day be formally recognized. I think the devil knows he can't touch him so he tries the next best thing and tries to undermine him through Catholics who persuade themselves that they are closer to God and the truth than he is. They are mistaken and if they don't discover they are mistaken, they are going to be lost.

I look forward to seeing the final document and am confident it will be a good one. The 'traditionalists' are guaranteed to be critical of it but we need to follow the Holy FATHER and the clergy who are in union with him.
