failing crops + high oil prices + unsustainable demand + environmental disasters + bad economy + food shortages = ????

    Rain,

Seeds of the Chasticement: I've been keeping my eye on this situation. It is tragic and will turn ugly if worldwide we have mediocre harvests and high gas prices in 2011.

    Pray! Pray! Pray!

    Lord have mercy!

Safe in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!

I have noticed that gas prices seem to be going up, up , up lately. Looks like things could be moving.

The shortages of food that are likely to hit are an indication of civilization gone awry.

In the coming golden era of the Church - after the chastisement and the first round of tribulations which will culminate in the triumph of the Two Hearts - the agricultural sector will probably once more become central to the world economy, as ordinary people return to cultivating crops en masse.

Going to college is a waste of time and money for today's youth. . . they should be preparing for a future in which consumption will no longer be separated from production, and everything from the food we eat to the clothing we wear will no longer be made in far-off lands. But oh, how woefully unprepared are today's Western, including American, youth for the mean and lean times that are coming!

I would have never have thought this a few years ago but I think that if I were encouraging a teen to go to collage I would recommend biological sciences- anatomy, physiology, animal husbandry, agriculture, nursing etc.
I certainly would not recommend psychology! (my own field) How the devil has distracted us from what is important.

I believe every age group in western society will buckle quickly with a food shortage or any type of suffering that is along the lines of what Haiti has gone through this past year. Hurricane Katrina really showed me western society is 3 missed meals away from chaos!

Um, I disagree...I think education is more important now than ever...be it agriculture, farming, or mechanics, or theology, or music, or medicine...also solar, wind, and water energy will be very beneficial in the future. These technologies will not go away, and some of them will become exremely important, and so will music and mathematics, and the biological sciences. Perhaps the high-paying jobs will be gone, but the need for people with this knowlege will be more important than ever. I would not discourage any teen from going to college, especially now, though we could try to guide them into some of these areas rather than "web development" or "finance". Also because we still do not know for sure when the bottom will actually drop out. It could still be many, many years, and bright, young minds will still be needed to help the world begin again. It cannot be every man for himself, it has to still be about helping all humanity...so the next generation needs to have a BROADER mindset, which may involve MORE education, not less. I say, get it while it is still available kids...but perhaps choose your majors or at least your electives a little more wisely, and we can help by teaching them now how to till the soil, and irrigate it, and harness the energy all around us. Get some little things, like wind-up flashlights, solar "ovens" (yes they already make them), take them camping (in a TENT), take them fishing or hunting, make sure they learn to swim well, teach them how to build a windmill, and how to repair a bicycle...

Our kids (and us too) need to prepare for the future in a very serious way! Not just by storing up tools and supplies, but by also learning everything we can that could help us later. Don't toss away the value of a good education, the act of learning alone prepares us for contuing to learn later. We all need to start...so we can be ready. The education my children have gained by going away to college has been invaluable...I am confident they can survive, and I hope they can teach others aorund them to do so also. My daughter studied music, and she is now a teacher, helping more kids to think out of the box. My son studies music and math...he loves learning about the physics of the world, and he will be able to apply what he has learned to help the world when the time comes, and someday will teach these things to his son...and in the meantime he can ease our heavy souls with a song...

I love the propesies that usggest new technologies will come, technolgies that are simpler coming from the hearts of people who pray and so see us all as Keepers of the Planet that God has given us a Gift that we be true husband men and women of what God has given us to take care of. Its as if we have ripped the HEart out of the Planet and it is actually writhing and screaming in pain. We should wrok with the Planet and all Creation for what we need , not just what we want.

I read the stories or how the atomic bomb was created and something about how scientists created germs and gases for war. The one thing that strikes me about these scientists was their distance from God and prayer, you can see this too today, scientists have a much much higher rate of unbelieve than the rest of us. The very peole who have the most material power are the ones with the least Spiritual Power. Satan knows this and goes for the guys at the top, the ones on the Board Rooms, the Governments and the Laboratories... so our food our drink and all around us becomes poisoned and the very planet on which we live moves into a State of angry rebellion against us.

My son - the math genius, physics nut, musician...believes wholeheartedly in the God element!!! He and I had a really intense conversation about this just a week or so ago. He had actually just read Eienstein's Book on relativity (a book we all know excerpts from, but who has actually read the thing?) Anyway, we talked about how after the warning and miracle that science must begin to include God in the equasions...otherwise we won't move forward. We will have new, more natural technologies, because we will understand that God is real and that we must include Him and take all that we know and make it work in harmony instead of constantly trying to disprove the spiritual realm. This kind of stuff gets me excited! There acrtually are many scientists who are already trying to do this (we just don't hear much from them yet), and many more who are on the edge who I think will fall the right way, because they are good human beings, they just need a glimpse of where they are going wrong. And thanks to God, he will provide that glimpse! See, this kind of thing really encourages me about the future! I wish we could get on with it! Some of the folks in our family are concerned because my children are using student loans to continue their education. They are worried about the debt they will be burdoned with later. I say go for it, because it is very likely that the money will all fall away in the future and what they learn will be worth so much more than those loans in the end. If the dollar crumbles, the loans won't matter anyway. So I can't think of a better thing to spend it on (while it still has some value) than to prepare their physical and spiritual minds to absorb what is to come and be in a position to do something and perhaps make a difference.

Is this coincidence or not- bringing back an old post, just reading through some of these and I found this interesting as I am going back to university (didnt finish it first time around was very immature, am now 28 and grown up!) and will be starting a Biological/Biomedical science access course for a year this September then was thinking of applying for a degree in either Food Quality, Safety and Nutrition or a degree in Nursing! Really dont know which one to do, do you think either one would be worthwhile in the future?

Wow- very cool. I honestly would pick the degree in nursing for reasons like- versatility, variety of settings, job availability. but- I also think its important to study what you love and if you are flexible and can go where the jobs are, it doesn't matter so much about the ability to get a job in your own town.
If you go to your local employment office they have actual databases of these types of jobs, their availabilty and average pay. That always helps with decisions.
Nursing is always in demand in my area and a lot of hospitals will pay for your schooling.
You can become a Certified Nursing Assistant and attend a one year school to be an RN in my area. Lots of opportunities with that job but I think the food safety sounds cool too.
Good luck. Keep us in the loop with your decision.

thanks Kathleen, the downside with nursing is I wouldnt be able to get a part time job during my training as its all shift work so might not be able to afford it, the funding is very low and not enough to live on alone. The food degree classes would be weekdays only and its all about food production and development so it goes into preserving food as well and the nutritional aspects which might be useful- would be pretty much guaranteed a job after it as you get a work placement in the summer of year 2.

they both pay about the same and can work upwards with both, not that concerned with money anyway but wanted to be able to help my mum out financially someday. As you say I think I will pray for guidance! thanks x

I love it! You can always go back and get the nursing degree if you find that was where your heart was at. I think the food production and development courses sound fascinating. I really love science :) I'll pray for you too. Kath
