This Saturday will be my 5th 1st Saturday. I will also be starting the 1st of the 9 Fridays, please God I will get to finish it!
First Friday and Saturday coming up. Please see above for how to fulfill the Five First Saturdays devotion request by Our Lady. This was a specific request made of us from Our Lady of Fatima and such a small thing. This First Saturday is also the eve of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. What better way to give Our Lady an Advent gift than to begin this devotion on such a feast?
Steve I really want to get this done some day. It is so hard though with little kids so pray for me. As mentioned I am in the middle of 9 first Fridays and I just started the 33 day consecration to Jesus's sacred heart through Mary and will finish and consecrate on Jan 1 God willing. What a great way I feel to start off what I feel could be a very troubling year. Has anyone ever heard about the 5 first Wednesdays to St. Joseph? You know really I just deep down want to go to mass every day so then I will always accomplish all of these as a great second benefit to receiving the body or our Lord. I just want daily eurcharist. I get there about 4 days a week now so at least I am more than halfway to this goal.
Heck Andy, you are doing heroic things. I would just get the First Fridays sorted (same promise) and then maybe consider the Saturdays. I have heard of the First Wednesday Devotion to St. Joseph, I am not sure of its origin but will investigate. I have only recently acquired a devotion to St. Joseph, he has always made me feel slightly wary because he is everything that I am not: discreet, pure, humble, self sacrificing, prayerful and heroic. But I decided that if he has everything I lack, he might be just the Saint to help me become a better man.
Andy, you are in a very similar boat as myself and its hard to do everything at once but well done you seem to be doing more than enough devotions at once. I did the 33 days a few months ago and its incredible, almost like a school for being Christ like with Mary at the head teacher. Keep up the good work. God Bless you and your family.
First Saturday coming up on the very first day of the month. Our Lady of Fatima asked for this devotion specifically to soothe Her Immaculate Heart of so many hurts and we don't want to disappoint her do we? Do we? (First Friday on the 7th of Feb too)
In visiting a Church in Nebraska recently, I came across this beautiful booklet written by Father Michael E. Gaitley called, 33 Days to Morning Glory. It is a do-it-yourself retreat in preparation for the Marian Consecration. It is awesome. He uses the four great Marian saints of our era Pope JPII, Mother Teresa, Maxmillian Kolbe and Saint Faustina. Each one of the 33 day's is looking at Mary through the words ad lives of these saints consecration to Mary. If anyone is interested you can find out more at www.marian.org
I have just completed the first five Saturdays thank God in January. I think you only have to do them once. I hope to do another five first staturdays though starting in March. I would like to keep doing them because that way I will always get confession regularly.
I have 2 more first Fridays to complete my 9 and then want to start the Saturdays. I was looking into different novenas yesterday and came up with an idea I want to work on. I going to try to make a set of novenas in order that will almost be a novena for every day of the year. I figure it will cover 360 days with 5 feast days or maybe I will do less days and have a few more feast days. Have to think and pray on this.
it is available on amazon. a bunch of us used it for our consecration to Mary last May. it is awesome!
Bump! First Saturday coming up. PLEASE DO IT, IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH EFFORT and those who do it: 1. Please Our Lady (who doesn't want to do that?) 2. Receive assurance about their own eternal fate (who doesn't want that?) 3. Assist Our Lady in obtaining the intentions of Her Immaculate Heart regarding the Church, Russia and the world (ditto) *We are not the Pope or Bishops so can't offer the Consecration of Russia but we can offer the devotion of the First Five Saturdays and if we want the consecration but haven't undertaken the devotion of the First Five Saturdays, perhaps it isn't the Pope's fault but our own. If many millions of Catholics offered up this devotion, we would do great good for the world and the Church and probably usher in the Consecration too. If you haven't done it, please do it and encourage other Catholics to do it too.
We just completed our five first Saturdays today! We ended up going to a church about 2 hours away. But they do confession, adoration, the Rosary, Mass and 15 minutes of meditation on one of the mysteries of the rosary all in one morning. So we have made a pilgrimage of it for the past 5 months. If it has not been mentioned you can do the five first Saturdays for family members. So hopefully in a few months after a little break we'll start again for family members who need it. God Bless!
Just completed the parish program of the 33 Days to Morning Glory and all involved LOVED it and almost all are going on to the Consoling the Heart of Jesus program retreat. Very do-able and any one can facilitate the program at their parish to bring more souls under Our Lady's mantle. And speaking of the 9 First Fridays and the 5 First Saturdays--why ever stop! Keep going and you might find yourself a daily communicant if you are not already. It can be difficult with work and family but if you ask Our Lady, she has a way of working things out so this can happen. Ave Maria!
Bump.. Tomorrow is March 1st, a first Saturday. Was there ever a time more important to do this devotion?
