Encyclical Leaked..hows your Italian?(translation needed)

No one I know of, doubts that climate change is a reality. It has always been the case since the beginning of creation, so it seems. The issue is how much of it, if any, is man-made. I do know this much to be true. You don't need multi-billions, if not trillions of $$$$$ redistributed to individuals, special interest groups that are all about eugenics and population control and countries who become more powerful with our money, while telling us what we have to do to save the planet, as they fly their carbon emitting private jets around the world preaching the end of the world if we don't stop mowing our yards, with what Al Gore called the worst polluting machine on the planet, the infamous lawn mower. All the while getting filthy rich by exploiting junk science. I hope Holy Father speaks on this diabolical fraud in his new encyclical.

There was a hiatus in so called 'global warming' for 19 years.

There is no evidence to back up catastrophic 'man made' global warming. There are many factors that make up climate, it is complex and cyclical and there are no accurate climate models.

The Holy Catholic Church needs to become the church militant and preach the Gospel, not behave like an NGO and get involved with disputed science.

This is a time of grace. This is a time for conversion.

It is not a time for the Church to weaken its mission and by taking any side in this scientific debate and undermining her very credibility. I do not want the encyclical to take any side in this debate whether the majority scientific side nor the minority side.

The mission of the Church is to save souls and bring people to a knowledge of Christ, the way, the truth and the life. If mankind was to convert all problems would soon be corrected and if all things were to be brought under the reign of Christ there would be peace and harmony between humanity and creation.

Read the words of Christ in the Gospels. His words were always about conversion and healing of the inner man. Therefore, the Church has a mandate from Christ to feed the sheep with the Word of Life and call the people of God to conversion.

Unless we get back to the core of our mission then what is the point of the existence of the Apostolic, Holy, Roman Catholic Church?

 

If this encyclical is directed against all those Christ-hating catholic-hating new world order types I have no problem with it. If it is yet another bomb against those faithful catholics on the right I do. Here is a great topic for his next encyclical, go after the world's banking structures which are enslaving entire nations:

Several legal arguments permit a State to unilaterally repudiate its illegal, odious, and illegitimate debt. There is a difference for me. I would follow Pope Francis into battle.

But I would not not be even interested in having a pint with Al Gore in a pub.

As much as I dislike the thought of the encyclical promoting the man made global warming agenda, which I profoundly disagree with on a intellectual level, the Pope will still have my respect because he holds the Petrine office.

He has followed the majority position with regard to the 'scientific evidence' and in the long run this may be a mistaken position not very aspect of an encyclical carries the weight of papal infallibility.

He is human and can make mistakes. I am human and have made very many more mistakes than the Pope.

But there are aspects of his style that I do not understand primarily I believe because he comes from a different cultural background from us Europeans.

These are testing and challenging times for us Catholics.

My faith is in Jesus Christ who promised that the gates of hell will not prevail against His Church.

...and then the question goes again that's been discussed here previously, what does "the gates of hell will not prevail" mean? Is it subjective or objective? According to Thomistic theology or phenomenology? Someone here, perhaps David O'connor, has previously presented the argument that encyclicals are subject to belief (my words) by serious catholics.

I go back to the three questions that Francis Cardinal George had for Pope Francis. Was he disobedient? Disrespectful?

I believe one can make the argument that the cultural floodgates were opened up around the world when Pope Francis said "who am I to judge". Oh sure, we all know what he meant (wink-wink) but that returns me to the thoughtful, serious questions that Cardinal George had which the Pope has never addressed. And please, don't tell me that we know the answers that the late saintly Cardinal had asked.

 

Not all the contents of an encyclical are magisterial teaching. There can be judgements and assertions made about issues that do not fall under magisterial authority.

Pope Francis can assert that climate change is occurring, as a judgement, not a teaching.

The faithful are only required to give the full assent of faith to infallible teachings of the Magisterium, and religious assent to the non-infallible teachings of the Magisterium.
