Pope Francis, in his press conference on the flight from Mexico, declared abortion to be evil and a crime. That was a matter of weeks after he had lauded as "great" a notorious unrepentant advocate of abortion. Rather than wallowing in being among the select few Catholics who actually get to ask a question of Christ's Vicar on earth, would it be too much to expect one of the Catholic journalists on the plane to remind His Holiness what Jesus said about hypocrites? Probably. Something I have noticed about Pope Francis is that almost every time he makes a controversial "off the cuff" remark, it is linked at the same time or later with one of his predecessors' statements on the same or a similar topic, e.g. Pope Paul and the nuns in the Congo. I think the main reason why people cannot recognise evil for what it is, is that they are not praying enough. There is an old Chinese saying, 'Treat a tiger like a tiger'. Putting out a plate of milk for a tiger or inviting it in for a cup of coffee and cookies just won't do it, the tiger will only eat you. Be nice to him and he will only depsise you for it as weak. This is not a matte of hating people, of not being compassionate, of not being understanding. It is a simple matter of being realistic. When Jesus was hauled in front of Herod he said not one word, not a single jot. When in front of Pilate , Pilate was amazed how little he had to say. Of course He spoke in a voice of thunder to the Pharisees and Saducees. Jesus knew to treat a tiger like a tiger. But the bottom line is that many modern people do not recognise the existence of pure unadulterated evil . They think the entire world is in some kind of process to being good. They are not tuned in. On the other hand our enemies know exactly where they stand. They want to string us up by our guts, they hate, despise and loath us . Cookies and a cup of coffee just won't cut it for these people. Flatter them, say all kind of nice things about them, talk to them till you're blue in the face, it matters not a darn. They'll just despise you for being weak and they're right . An abortionist in the very nature of things is working for Satan, probably fully possessed by demons. The purest, darkest most filthy kind of dangeorus wickedness we are ever likely to meet in this life. I would say even the demons are astonised to find a welcome mat being led out for them.
