I am sorry that you are upset, that is not my intention. I want to know what everybody thinks and then we can have an open discussion. There is so much room for dissenting opinions and this helps me to form my own opinions or enlightens me with a new source of information. And I thank everyone for that!

Sorry, Padraig. I sounded harsh. I love the bantering about issues that we all feel very strongly about and I value what you are saying. I don't believe that Satan is leading me around by the nose but I've been mistaken many times before.

This time I am firm in my support for Pope Francis, warts and all.

Being pro-abortion and being pro-peace simultaneously is impossible. They are mutually exclusive stances.

    Hi,
I'm not upset. Just trying to find a solution everyone can be happy with. This is not the first thread people have argued about this on......it has been ongoing for several months.

Yes! I was thinking that same thing. Abortion is extremely violent.

I really do wonder how human beings have arrived at a mode of thought, where tiny, innocent babies are considered a curse, the ruination of those lives involved, and must be met with cold, clinical destruction at the whim of the owner of the womb they inhabit. We are a lost race.

“I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is 'Abortion', because it is a war against the child... A direct killing of the innocent child, 'Murder' by the mother herself... And if we can accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love... And we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts...”

We do not support those whose Faith is weak by covering up the truth. We assist their Faith by exploring the Truth. Hiding things in the closet never works, they alway start to stink.

I made a mistake getting involved in this discussion. I have deleted my post and won't engage any further in this thread.

    God Bless.

Yes shining light on Truth is very good. Which leaves me still wondering, why do you only post bad things about our Pope and not post to shine a light on the good things he does?

So he hasn't done any good since 2013?

That's obviously rhetorical and I pray you see my point is not to badger you about it but to open your heart back up to him :)

Not at all. I am quite sure I ahve said nice things about him since then, in fact I posted a sweet thing about him on face book just last week.:) About a dove landing on his hand. But since I am not in the dock in the court I don't feel the need to go looking them up.

But it's quite true of course as the Poniticate has developed I have had a lot of questions as have of course many millions of devout ,obedient Catholics like myself.
I am very, very far from being alone in this...and if questions continue to arise I will continue to ask them.

Understood. I have questions too and early on he really got my eyebrows raised when he attacked capitalism. He does things that I wouldn't do but I have decided to trust that God has a plan and Pope Francis is a big part of it. It helped me soften my heart towards him when I saw the many good things he does and I hope it helps you as well :)

Heidi, post: ]Hi, I'm not upset. Just trying to find a solution everyone can be happy with...

    Hi Heidi,
If you try to find solutions that everyone can be happy with you will go to your grave as a very disappointed and depressed lady! :( As Charlie J. goes on about: Trust God and Take the Next Right Step .... and use the basic and essential tenants of Our Christian Faith to be your guide ......... and I really like The Divine Mercy Message .... 'cause it gives folks like me Great Hope for Eternal Salvation :)

    GOD SAVE ALL HERE!!

PS: Blogosphere Forums are meant for Folks to express their Thoughts, Concerns and Opinions ....... but as my old F-4 Boss in Korea used to say: "Opinions are like a-holes; everyone has one and it stinks!"

I think there is a very, very great Pope coming who will Define the Last Three Marian Dogma's and Consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart.

Thats just my opinion and it may be like an a-hole :D:D;)

..but if all opinions were truly like a-holes there would not be a whole lot of point having a forum like this as it would be an like a-hole convention .:)

Of course the idea that opinions are a-holes is an opinion in itself. :ROFLMAO::D

I rarely comment on Pope Francis beyond recalling what Jesus said in Matthew 16:18. As I read comments about this Pope all over the internet in addition to this forum I asked myself, "What are the good things this Pope has done in the last 3 years?". I admit that I was shocked to realize that I couldn't, off the top of my head, come up with anything.

Good grief, why is that?! I then realized I have avoided staying up to date with his doings and sayings since his first plane presser, and in my usual spiritual reading through a short list of Catholic websites and blogs is where I have become informed on this Pope. I read both the "sky is falling!" Catholics and the "Wow, isn't he something!" Catholics.

So I just now did a search on Google of "What is great about Pope Francis", so I can find out all the terrific things this Pope does that I should be aware of, specifically. I found lists and lists of why this Pope is so great and my first reaction was: these things are superficial. But then I thought, "But that is SMART, because we live in a very superficial world, and if you actually do want to reach out to anti-Catholics (who are anti-Catholic Church for pretty superficial reasons on the whole, imo), the quickest, easiest way is to change superficial things!"

Wow so people are turning to Francis, not the Catholic Church of course, but to the person of Francis because:

    1) He wears simple white instead of those fancy-schmancy embroidered, gold-trimmed, robes that Benedict wore all the time. (I think St. JPII went around in white all the time too, though.)
    2) He auctioned off his Harleys and gave the money to a soup kitchen. That's nice.
    3) He let 2 young Italian boys ride around on his popemobile one time.
    4) He moved out of the papal palace and lives in a simple residence "that he pays rent for".
    5) Of course he shunned the red Prada shoes.
    6) He was on the cover of the Rolling Stone. (seriously)
    7) "He dropped the F-Bomb during a papal address" Yes, this is given as a reason to think this Pope is just awesome, that he mispronounced a word that sounded "dirty" during a papal address. Sheesh.

I could go on and on, and these lists say more about the people who made them and their rationale for religious belief than Pope Francis. But my point is, while it's great that Pope Francis' PR activities are getting some in this empty, godless, jaded world to look at him, it's dust compared to the fullness and richness of a life that embraces the Magisterium, and time is short!

And so that brings me to what has Pope Francis brought to those already in the Church's camp? I mean true Believers in the Deposit of Faith, in all that the Catholic Church has taught through millenia. What should he bring to those of us who are devout and work to be obedient in all things of our Faith? Well teaching clarity is a given, and yet this is the primary arena in which Pope Francis appears to fall short. We should be challenged to love our fellow man not just with Truth but with mercy and compassion, just as Christ did, yes!

But to me Pope Francis focuses too much on the passing things of this world, to the degree that more than a few are questioning if "Does the pope believe? Does he embrace with his whole head and heart all that the Catholic Church teaches – every doctrine and every moral? Does he believe that the treasures of the Church contain the fullness of God’s truth and grace for our salvation, and that God wills that all people should receive them because all people need them and have a right to them?"https://thefullnessoftruthapostolate.wordpress.com/

Judging by his statements, he does make me wonder. I am no expert on Catholicism, I was poorly catechised in the 70s, spent 15 years lapsed and have been trying to get up to the speed the last 18 years. I am barely above average in intelligence-and that itself may be deluded boast-and Pope Francis has managed pit my duty to respect The Pope with my duty to uphold and cling to everything the Catholic Faith teaches.

Maybe I am too stupid in my intellect or too poor in my life in the Faith to "get" Pope Francis and feel authentically led by him. I am open to the possibility. So I just repeat and repeat to myself Matthew 16:18. And pray for Pope Francis.

Not much coming from the Vatican these days on the need, the need (we are told not to emphasize this), to repent and convert. A lot about social justice issues of which Pope Francis is the best at. I believe someone at Fatima once called this a "diabolical disorientation."
