The Mahdi is a main component of Shia Islam. This is a much smaller branch based mainly in Iran/Iraq. The majority Sunni Islam are based in Mecca and many consider Shia to be either an apostate or heretic branch, mostly due to political reasons. To this day, Saudi Arabia and Iraq are enemies, with only minor areas of detente. It's one of the reasons that Saudi Arabia is making public various cooperative ventures with Israel. (There have been previous times that were kept quiet for diplomatic reasons with the Arab world, such as the time they allowed Israel to fly over Saudi airspace during the Raid on Entebbe.) Spot on. I think that SA is rightly more concerned with Iran/Iraq than anyone else. Also they have signed defense agreements via UAE and other nations under their direct influence with Israel. Many people do not realize that in the world of the orthodox Jew that Muslims are believed to be much closer to them than Christians because we are viewed as unrepentant idolaters by both groups. This is one of the head scratching notions with the Vatican and its ecumenical mission with both Jews and Muslims I do not understand. I truly believe in Fr Gobbi’s locutions. The messages were brilliant on a spiritual level, as well as, historical. Our Lady was very clear about these times.
