Debate: Is Anti-Christ and the Abomination of Desolation before the Period of Peace?

The era of peace is the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary when the present reign of satan will be broken.

    This has not occurred yet.

Dolours, That is a good post but a period of time is not infinite unless you possibly mean the 45 day period from the time that the final Antichrist is thrown into the pool of fire and the time of the Final Judgment. This is a possibility too and I believe that many fathers of the Church believed this and they believed that this would be the time of many conversions. I have wondered if it benefits Satan more if we believe in this version though because we will have sort of given up.

Personally, I still believe in the prophecies of various blessed and saints and doctors of the Church like Saint Hildegard of Bingen which state that there will be a great monarch and a holy pope but even if this occurs there is no guarantee that the period of peace will be long at all. I suppose that I try to remain hopeful but of course, the Second Coming gives me hope also.

We will have the answers eventually. + I'm off to pray the rosary and St. Andrew's Novena before my family starts waking up, I'm getting a late start today. :)

45 days wouldn't qualify as an era. Our Lady said "in the end". She didn't say "near the end" or "during the end". The three and a half years of tribulation are described as a shortened period of time.

I wonder sometimes whether the 45 days will be the time of the conversion of the Jews. The reason being what Jesus said about the Jews accepting one who comes in his own name. That means that the Jews will believe the AC to be the Messiah, so where does the conversion fit into the timeline of the last days if not after the Jews realise that they have been deceived? Jesus spent 40 days instructing the disciples between the Resurrection and Ascension. Maybe He will do something similar for the Jews after He finishes the AC. Just a thought.

Satan's reign was broken at the Crucifixion. He is being restrained. I believe, and as far as I know the Church has taught. that the 1,000 years began with the death and resurrection of Jesus. I think that somehow or other the False Prophet will have a role in removing the restrainer. But I could well be wrong. I'm not nearly as knowledgeable as you on this topic. http://www.usccb.org/bible/2thessalonians/2#61002006-1

Dolours, I remember always referring to the time of peace promised by Our Lady of Fatima as an era of peace until Mac/Luke corrected me, in so many words. May Luke rest in peace and God bless his family always. I am so glad that I have these memories of him on MOG.

In any case, Mac was/is correct Our Lady of Fatima did not refer to an era of peace but a period of peace, "In the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to Me, Russia will be converted and a period of peace will be given to the world." So, 45 days is obviously a period of time. I do, of course, realize that many other mystics referred to an era of peace and therefore, it does make sense if we consider Venerable Holzhauser's Seven Ages of the Church that the era of peace (if it will still be an era of peace and not simply a period of peace) would occur prior to the time of the final Antichrist.

I am a little confused by your other post now, are you firmly stating that there will not be a period of peace granted to the world? or are you stating that the new heaven and the new earth (the end of the world [as we know it]) would be the period of peace Our Lady of Fatima spoke of? This latter situation does not make sense to me because the Our Lady of Fatima referred to it as a period of peace and the new heaven and new earth will be for all eternity, this why I suggested that it could be the 45 days after the final Antichrist and the False Prophet have been thrown into the pool of fire. The former situation would mean that Our Lady of Fatima's promise for a period of peace would not take place and I don't believe this to be the case either.

All one has to do is read Revelations 19-20 that speaks of the reign of the Antichrist and False prophet and their demise into hell prior to the 1000 years of peace, (although a figurative number, it is not 45 or 100 years). Then if scripture needs further clarification, listen to the many prophets of our time, approved and trustworthy/credible ones who have revealed as much. It's as simple as that for me. God has made it really simple to understand with these two sure sources.

Satan is bound for a thousand years. The souls of the martyrs reign with Christ in the first resurrection. The last attempts of Satan against the church. The last judgment.

    Revelations 19:
[9] And he said to me: Write: Blessed are they that are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith to me: These words of God are true. [10] And I fell down before his feet, to adore him. And he saith to me: See thou do it not: I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren, who have the testimony of Jesus. Adore God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

[11] And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called faithful and true, and with justice doth he judge and fight. [12] And his eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many diadems, and he had a name written, which no man knoweth but himself. [13] And he was clothed with a garment sprinkled with blood; and his name is called, THE WORD OF GOD. [14] And the armies that are in heaven followed him on white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. [15] And out of his mouth proceedeth a sharp two edged sword; that with it he may strike the nations. And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God the Almighty.

[16] And he hath on his garment, and on his thigh written: KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. [17] And I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that did fly through the midst of heaven: Come, gather yourselves together to the great supper of God: [18] That you may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of tribunes, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all freemen and bondmen, and of little and of great. [19] And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies gathered together to make war with him that sat upon the horse, and with his army. [20] And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet, who wrought signs before him, wherewith he seduced them who received the character of the beast, and who adored his image. These two were cast alive into the pool of fire, burning with brimstone. [21] And the rest were slain by the sword of him that sitteth upon the horse, which proceedeth out of his mouth; and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

    Revelations 20:
[1] And I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit, and a great chain in his hand. [2] And he laid hold on the dragon the old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. [3] And he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should no more seduce the nations, till the thousand years be finished. And after that, he must be loosed a little time. [4] And I saw seats; and they sat upon them; and judgment was given unto them; and the souls of them that were beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and who had not adored the beast nor his image, nor received his character on their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. [5] The rest of the dead lived not, till the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

[6] Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection. In these the second death hath no power; but they shall be priests of God and of Christ; and shall reign with him a thousand years. [7] And when the thousand years shall be finished, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, and shall go forth, and seduce the nations, which are over the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, and shall gather them together to battle, the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. [8] And they came upon the breadth of the earth, and encompassed the camp of the saints, and the beloved city. [9] And there came down fire from God out of heaven, and devoured them; and the devil, who seduced them, was cast into the pool of fire and brimstone, where both the beast [10] And the false prophet shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

[11] And I saw a great white throne, and one sitting upon it, from whose face the earth and heaven fled away, and there was no place found for them. [12] And I saw the dead, great and small, standing in the presence of the throne, and the books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged by those things which were written in the books, according to their works. [13] And the sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and hell gave up their dead that were in them; and they were judged every one according to their works. [14] And hell and death were cast into the pool of fire. This is the second death. [15] And whosoever was not found written in the book of life, was cast into the pool of fire.

I'm not surprised that I have confused you. I'm confusing myself at this stage. And yes, may Luke spend the Christmas season basking in the Beatific Vision. I miss him too. I learned lots from both Luke and Brian. I pray that Luke's family will have a good Christmas although I'm sure it won't be easy especially for his widow and older children.

I'm more inclined to the view that the fall of the Soviet union and avoiding a nuclear war or WW111 were the period of peace resulting from the imperfect consecration of Russia. Being far from an expert on these matters, I wouldn't completely rule out a chastisement followed by a period of peace to allow for the full number of the Gentiles to be brought into the Church. I'm inclined to swing either side of that fence, although mainly on the sceptical side.

What I have a problem with is equating the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary with a finite period of peace, be it a month, a year or a millennium. That, to my mind, doesn't fit with Our Lady of Fatima saying "In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph" because her triumph will be everlasting. She won't be "crushing his head" twice because satan will only get one bite of the cherry when the restrainer is lifted.

I don't know why there will be an extra 45 days and was speculating about what they might signify. We know that there will be great upheavals (earthquakes) leading up to the Second Coming. We know, too, that the earth will be incinerated and renewed. I'm just wondering whether all the Jews (or all believing Jews) will have returned to Israel and Israel itself is somehow spared for those 45 days. Could it be that that's what "All Israel" means in respect of the conversion of the Jews? That seems stupid even as I type it. My poor brain is bursting.

Dolours, I understand what you mean about your poor brain is bursting, I think that it is extremely difficult for us to attempt to figure it all out. I used to be on that path, then I realized that I never would figure it all out and that God would only allow me to understand the bits and pieces that He wants me to understand. So, I can't possibly address everything that you have included in your post but I will reiterate that a period by definition has a beginning and an end - it is a portion of time; and that is how I think of the period of peace Our Lady of Fatima has spoken of, that it has a beginning and an end; and it is not everlasting. I think that Our Lady of Fatima is referring to a renewal of the Church as we currently know it with a pope as the vicar of Christ not what comes along with the new heaven and new earth. Iow, this will be the Triumph of Her Immaculate Heart. These are my thoughts, of course.

I don't put a lot of effort trying to figure it out. I remember from a previous conversation with you that there were 40 odd days which had no real explanation. My faulty memory had that number at 42 but I see now that it's 45.

Yes, "a period" does have a beginning and an end by definition but without a stipulated duration the length of the period can only be determined in hindsight. The fall of the Soviet Union can be determined as the beginning of an era of peace whether or not the quality of the peace meets people's expectations of what the peace should be. Removal of an imminent threat of nuclear war qualifies as a period of peace, as does the freedom for Christians to practice the faith in former Warsaw Pact countries. That it isn't the kind of peace many people were expecting can be attributed to the delay in consecrating Russia, the failure to explicitly name Russia, and the failure to pray the Rosary for the conversion of Russia. The fall of the Soviet Union was an opportunity for world peace which was handled badly by secular authorities and wasn't helped by internal divisions in the Church. What kind of Bishops would have prevailed on the Pope not to name Russia in the consecration? Mankind's greed, lust for power and failure to trust God is always at the root of the world's problems.

I'm happy to let more learned people decipher the Book of Revelation and when there's some kind of consensus I'll accept whatever the Church approves. So far, my understanding is that the closest we have come to a consensus is that the Millennium began with the Crucifixion, that the first death/resurrection is the personal judgement when the souls of the damned go to Hell/saints to Heaven and that the second death/resurrection will come at the General Judgement when both body and soul will go to their eternal punishment/reward.

I'm open to correction but not based on prophecy which, even if Church approved, is often conditional (as with Fatima) and can be mitigated or averted.

I don't believe that we have experienced the peace that Our Lady of Fatima spoke of yet because I don't believe that Her Immaculate Heart has Triumphed yet, in addition to many other reasons. I believe that both Saint Pope John Paul II and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI read the third secret of Fatima and they both spoke of a renewal of the Church occurring after much blood has been shed and martyrs have been made, this seems to fit very well with various approved prophecies of the Church which have not happened as of yet either.

I don't think there is any thing wrong with trying to figure it all out, I just think that it is very difficult to get all of the details straight in advance of these events occurring and of course, they can change to some degree. Heaven obviously gave us these messages to prepare us spiritually, emotionally and possibly physically also.

Well, these our my thoughts for what they are worth. Peace to all here. +

Edited to add: In addition, I believe in the apparitions of Our Lady of Medjugore mainly because of a feeling that I have about it and because I think I was given some insight to it from my guardian angel. And somewhat recently, Our Lady of Medjugorje has stated that the Triumph of Her Immaculate Heart has begun. Iow, not finished yet but begun.

I simply trust in Our Lady of Good Success. She promised to "save the day" early in the 21st century after the horrors began to multiply in the 20th century. The confirmed prophecies, her pointing out the diabolical activity of freemasonry before their lodges were even formed, and the miracles regarding her messenger, Mother Marianne, all point to the truth of this apparition. The only part of me that gets in the act of dating, is that interiorly I feel her Triumph and timetable is somehow opposed to the UN's hope that sustainable development goals be reached by 2029.

In addition, I agree with Fatima's consistent appraisal of Revelation 20:1-11. I have never seen a written argument disqualifying what appears to be a straight forward sequence. If anyone is aware of a respectable piece logically showing that those verses should be taken in some metaphoric manner. please point it out to me.

Dolours, It is amazing how we all find things at the most opportune moments. I was looking for a video of the beginning of the movie Ben Hur for someone today because it is of the nativity scene and I love it. Well, I noticed the following video at this time. At the very end of the video, the priest states that after most of the Jews convert the tribulation at the end of the world will begin (the time of the final Anti-Christ). So for what it is worth here is the video.

"The Jews Will Convert to Christ"
    "Published on Nov 29, 2019
In the end the Jews will convert. Not all of them but we pray for this to happen. For more please visit
http://www.institute-christ-king.org/... & remember to say 3 Hail Marys for the priest"

I also want to mention that when I first started studying the end times I came across a lot of information from protestants on the internet and many of them believe in the rapture but besides that they have a lot of timelines for what precedes the 1290 day tribulation (the time of the final Anti-Christ) but after watching a video from Sensus Fidelium about the end times by Father Wolfe I realized that as Catholics I think that we are only supposed to be certain of the 1290 day tribulation and the 45 days that follow. If I can find that video, I'll post but you may remember the one that I am referring to. I think that the talk is mainly discussing Venerable Holzhauser's prophecies of the end times.

Well, I would also like to post the Christmas video that I referred to here and to wish everyone a Blessed Christmas! Thank you all for the camaraderie that we share as we continue to stand up for the Faith together.

The latest is one of Mark Mallett's best blogs to date. I believe he has the era of peace nailed in this article: https://www.markmallett.com/blog/2019/12/06/jesus-is-coming/ I only posted the beginning of his blog, but it only gets better throughout.

    Jesus is Coming!
Posted on December 6, 2019 by Mark

I want to say it as clear and loud and boldly as I possibly can: Jesus is coming! Did you think that Pope John Paul II was just being poetic when he said:

Dear young people, it is up to you to be the watchmen of the morning who announce the coming of the sun who is the Risen Christ! —ST. JOHN PAUL II, Message of the Holy Father to the Youth of the World, XVII World Youth Day, n. 3; (cf. Is 21:11-12)

Would you say that, if this is true, it constitutes a stupendous task for these watchmen?

I did not hesitate to ask them to make a radical choice of faith and life and present them with a stupendous task: to become “morning watchmen” at the dawn of the new millennium. —POPE JOHN PAUL II, Novo Millennio Inuente, n.9

I have, as best I can, made radical choices of faith and life in order to answer this call, made to me as well, as I stood in the driving rain at World Youth Day in 2002 in the presence of that great Saint. Was not the rain and stormy clouds that day symbolic of the cry of the great Marian saint, Louis de Montfort (who would influence the course of John Paul II’s life and pontificate, whose motto was Totus Tuus “totally yours”, as in totally Mary’s in order to be totally Christ’s)?

Your divine commandments are broken, your Gospel is thrown aside, torrents of iniquity flood the whole earth carrying away even your servants… Will everything come to the same end as Sodom and Gomorrah? Will you never break your silence? Will you tolerate all this for ever? Is it not true that your will must be done on earth as it is in heaven? Is it not true that your kingdom must come? Did you not give to some souls, dear to you, a vision of the future renewal of the Church? —St. Louis de Montfort, Prayer for Missionaries, n. 5; www.ewtn.com

For nearly fifteen years, I have dedicated myself to these writings here, building upon the foundation of the Scriptures, Early Church Fathers, Popes, mystics and seers, and then the works of theologians like Fr. Joseph Iannuzzi, the late Fr. George Kosicki, Benedict XVI, John Paul II, and others. The foundation is strong; the message nearly indisputable, especially as it is confirmed by the “signs of the times” that themselves act, daily, as heralds that Jesus Christ is coming.

For years, I trembled in my boots, wondering if I was somehow misleading my readers, afraid of presumption, terrified of tumbling over the treacherous cliffs of prophecy. But as time went on, supported by my spiritual director (who appointed one of the most brilliant and prophetic minds in the Church to oversee my writings for a time, Michael D. O’Brien), I began to realize that there is no need to speculate, to draw rash conclusions. God has been speaking through the centuries steadily and clearly through the Magisterium and Our Lady, preparing the Church for the great hour of her own “passion, death, and resurrection” that would see the return of Jesus. But not in the flesh! No! Jesus already came in the flesh. He is returning, rather, to establish His Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven. As my dear friend Daniel O’Connor says so beautifully, “Two thousand years later, the greatest prayer will not go unanswered!”

Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. —from the Pater Noster (Matt 6:10)

It’s funny how we pray this every day and yet do not really consider what we are praying! The coming of the Kingdom of Christ is equivalent to His will being done “on earth as it is in heaven.” What does this mean? It means that Jesus has come, not only to save us, but to sanctify us by reestablishing in man what was lost in the Garden of Eden: the union of Adam’s will with the Divine Will. By this, I do not mean a mere perfect conformation of one’s will to God’s. Rather, it is the fusion of God’s will in our own so that there is only a single will remaining. In this way, the Bride of Christ will be divinized fully into Christ’s likeness such that she will truly become Immaculate…

…that He might present to himself the church in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. (Ephesians 5:27)

For the wedding day of the Lamb has come, his bride has made herself ready. She was allowed to wear a bright, clean linen garment. (Rev 19:7-8)

And this grace, brothers and sisters, has never been given to the Church until now. It is a Gift that God has reserved for the last times:

God himself had provided to bring about that “new and divine” holiness with which the Holy Spirit wishes to enrich Christians at the dawn of the third millennium, in order to “make Christ the heart of the world.” —POPE JOHN PAUL II, Address to the Rogationist Fathers, n. 6, www.vatican.va

It will be the reign of Christ with His saints that is spoken of in Revelation 20—a spiritual resurrection of what was lost in Eden.

They came to life and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were over. This is the first resurrection. (Rev 20:4-5)

This reign is nothing other than the New Pentecost prophesied by the popes, that “new springtime” and “Triumph of the Immaculate Heart” because…

Holy Mary… you became the image of the Church to come… —POPE BENEDICT XVI, Spe Salvi, n.50

At last, Our Lady will see within her own children a perfect and immaculate reflection of herself as they take up her own Fiat in order to live in the Divine Will as she did. This is why it is called the “Triumph of her Immaculate Heart” because the Kingdom of the Divine Will that reigned in her own soul will now reign in the Church as the climax of salvation history. Thus, said Benedict, praying for this Triumph…

…is equivalent in meaning to our praying for the coming of God’s Kingdom.Light of the World, p. 166, A Conversation With Peter Seewald

And the Kingdom of Christ is found on earth in His Church, which is His mystical Body.

The Church “is the Reign of Christ already present in mystery…” At the end of time, the Kingdom of God will come in its fullness.Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 763
