    Crying Out to God

    Psalm 51 is a powerful prayer of repentance for this stage of the Path.
    In this prayer, we beg the Lord to have mercy upon
    us and to cleanse us from all our sins. We cry out to God to create
    a clean heart in us, making it whiter than snow.

    True repentance is based on a deep truth. As I grow in self-knowledge, I become aware of my need for mercy. The need for repentance also becomes obvious. Humility makes me aware of my freedom, that I am not a victim but responsible for my choices. It is the understanding that ‘sin’ is a reality and not some form of neurotic guilt. To admit that one is a sinner is a form of psychic health. So, Psalm 51 when prayed slowly can bring the one praying to a place of being able to admit one’s need for mercy.

    Growth in freedom is a slow process. It is in our choices to be truthful with ourselves that allows freedom to grow. Honesty before God is healing for nothing can be hidden from the gaze of our Eternal Father.
    This is freeing, not something to be feared.

    Mature faith has to be achieved by facing our false images of God which can lead to servile fear. We are not called to that, to fear. In the 1st letter of John, it is stated “Love Cast out fear”. ‘Trust’ is a choice, so fear has to be faced and stepped over. There is some discomfort in this, but it has to be faced if one wants a deep intimate relationship with Christ.Br.MD

    My gaze is upon each of you. I see your struggles;
    I know your trials; I feeland suffer your sorrows;
    I collect your tears;I suffer with each of you.

    Have perfect faith in the God that loves you…
    Believe in the power of your hidden ordinary lives

    lived through Me,with Me, and in Me, ONE with Me, no
    longer two. Believe in My crucified love,

    in the power of My crucified gaze to penetrate
    all darkness. My gaze is upon you;

    allow Me to heal your wounds and purify
    all darkness. My desire for you,

    My thirst for each of you, is to make you My living icons.

    Lately I have been considering the Sorrowful Virgin with a feeling of deep gratitude. She cried when I did not. She expressed sorrow, where I stayed silent. Her heart was broken were mine was cold. She was compassionate where I was indifferent.

    She took my place, she took all our places at the foot of the Cross.
