Our FSSP parish newsletter this week has a bit of potentially good news on the vaccine front, and I have found this thread where I thought it might be worth posting the extract to share. It appears it is early days but this vaccine might be ethically suitable. It does say we don't yet know if cell lines from aborted babies might be used for ongoing testing; but have not been used in the creation stage of the vaccine. Vaccines Update 10 April: This past week it was reported in the media that a French company called Valvena are going to be producing a new Covid vaccine in a Scottish plant; and if it is approved, the UK government intend purchasing 60 million doses later this year and a further 40 million in 2022. Fetal cell lines will not be used in its production, but it remains to be seen whether they will be used in testing it - we hope and pray not, thus providing a truly ethical option! The Valvena vaccine will be a more conventional 'inactivated whole virus vaccine,' rather than the new 'gene therapy' approach underpinning the UK's current vaccine options. Its initial testing results have apparently proved very promising.
I thought no one had been able to isolate the virus yet to be able to make a true vaccine for it(?) I don't trust what any big pharma says about the safety of their trials either. I mean, I hope this is a proper vaccine but this is the first I've heard of it.
Me too. But the news is in the FSSP weekly Church news bulletin. And the FSSP will be looking out for ethically, morally suitable vaccines which do not use dead babies. As you can see from the extract, they don't yet know if cell lines from aborted babies are used in the testing process, and I expect they will let us know when the information becomes available.
