So, maybe agree on what they said, as quoted? Without, any "traditional Catholics." (Although, now I think about it, maybe Mirus was talking about SSPX/schismatics.) I still think, they are right in saying people use "messengers" to contradict Church teaching, or, to put their own "spin" on arguments, going much farther than Church teaching. .
But they have a tentative, illustrated, polished interactive timeline graphic. Once you see that baby “on paper”, you see that they have a projection they are promoting as their view of what’s going to go down from now until the end of the world. Is THIS evangelization?! When I first saw this, my eyes were opened. Then came the thought, “By whose authority?” Anyone can say it’s all sheer speculation to justify putting it out there, but they seem to be working off this very model fitting whatever they can into making it seem legit. Makes me sick. We simply DO.NOT. KNOW. Trust is God, pray about whatever you hear, and, if ANYTHING about anything makes you anxious, flush it.
It was Mirus who was using political language in a religious context. I believe Mirus has politicised our Lady. I dislike that intensely.
I am not familiar with Jeffrey Mirus but I would be very careful about Mark Shea. I used to read his blog years ago but the last time I read it some time back, it wasn't good at all and I'm being kind here. Then I read he advocated voting for Hilary Clinton. A bit hypocritical asking one to be obedient to Church teaching while supporting voting for an pro abortion politician? Haven't gone back since.
Wow - hard to believe Mark Shea was a Hilary fan. Jeffrey Mirus hates traditionalists -- here is what Christopher A Ferrara of the Remnant wrote about him -- People like Mirus would love to see people like us consigned once again to the ghettos we were forced to inhabit before Pope Benedict ended our confinement and exposed the fraud of the “liturgical reform” with four simple words concerning the traditional Mass: “never abrogated” and “always permitted.” But traditionalists are coming out of the ghettos now, as the ancient Mass restores the life of the Church in place after place where it was once outrageously forbidden within her official structure. That the neo-Catholic establishment exemplified by Mirus is disturbed by the spread of this healing balm for a gravely wounded Church is a telling indication of where the Holy Spirit is not at work in the Church today.
Maybe, you should start a thread on Jeffrey Mirus, to discuss in-depth. It seems you have been researching. But, that was not the point of putting a quote from them on this thread. What Mirus/Shea said about false prophets belongs in discussion on "Countdown" website. [Edited] Especially, the part about people "weaponizing" messages, for their own advantage. To make a point, to distract... .
Right on garabandal!!!! Totally agree with Chris Ferraras assessment! The Latin mass is coming back and the Miruses of the world are getting nervous...hence the vitriol
Also, forgot to add, agree with this. Lots of slick graphics, on the website, too. Much time and money spent to market it. .
I just cant get very upset about anything that Mark and Daniel are saying about their timeline. Im taking it all as just their point of view.. I dont think they consider themselves experts nor are they promoting them selves to be above and beyond church teaching. Taking it all with a grain of salt! If they're right ...good on them ...If they're wrong ..so be it. Whats the worry about it? I dont think ANYBODY is holding them out to be the end all oracles of our time..they are just two very good Catholics with whom I mostly agree. Nothing less and nothing more.
There is a timeline in the Bible in the Book of Revelation. So we do know. And Christ taught us about the signs of the end times. He gave us warnings. The Catechism and the saints & Doctors of the Church also speak of the end times and the signs that come with the end of an age. I am not saying the Countdown people have got the timeline right. So don't throw the baby out with the bath-water just because you disagree with them, which is your right. And by the way End Times & prophecy is evangelisation -- I became interested in faith through first reading the Book of Revelation. And many people have been converted through Fatima, Garabandal -- and these apparitions have timelines prophesying the future.
BTW ... As much as I like Mark and Daniel..I totally disagree with their vigorous promotion of the new and upcoming seers listed on their site. However...I wont dismiss what they're saying just because of an opinion that I happen to have about those seers. They may be truly messengers of Heaven ..I just dont know.
Good post, Garabandal. I think what I meant when I agreed with that post is that we don’t know the day or the hour when events will transpire. The important thing is to keep our lamps lit. I do like mostly approved prophecy but I also like Garabandal and Our Lady of Revelation.
[Edited] I guess, I feel a lack of "humility" in the "Countdown" presentation of the timeline. Mallett and friends, are too definite, too certain, in an area where traditional theologians are in dispute. Before the time of Pope Paul VI, lay Catholics did not do this kind of speculation. When the '60s rules were relaxed, lay people started getting into "prophecy" and offering their own interpretations. This was a time many rules were relaxed. The outcomes were not always good. With prophecy, a "revolutionary attitude" is/was dangerous. Just like other Vatican II era innovations. Anyhow, today we have a "cottage industry" of semi-professional interpreters of prophecy. Some of these people do harm, by scaring others, by making mistakes in interpretation, by ignorance of Church tradition. Again, as I said before, I do not believe "Countdown" authors have "vetted" their messengers sufficiently. People who spread messages from new messengers--unapproved by the Church or not submissive to bishops--are morally responsible for any bad results. (This is my personal belief. I've said this before...) .
Nope, wrong again Advocata. Prophecy and discernment are two different gifts of the Holy Spirit. I believe those like Mark, Daniel, Peter and Christiana who started the title of this thread on their new web site have the gift of discernment of the Holy Spirit on the prophecy of others. You and others will disagree and that is fine. God will sort it all out and give grace to those who did his will as I believe these 4 are doing. It is not easy to be a prophet and most in the bible ran from it. Most scoffed at them (sounds familiar today as well). But in the end God will provide the blessings and the opposite to those who scoffed at his prophets as happened throughout biblical history. Our time is not different. We have the scriptures and history to learn from this. Fatima children were ridiculed. St. Bernadette was ridiculed all prophets were. Jesus said it would be the same as Sodom and Gomorrah when he returns. Anyone think it is not trending that way today> Anyone want to be a prophet with all the naysayers?????
