Perhaps if we told our priest we would withhold our donation if they continue to insist on communion in the hand?
Great point! Lol I was afraid to touch it when it came to me!! But it grabbed it underneath without holding the handles which everyone else touched. Oh, and they had a second colection too.
The worrisome part of this is that by the time the medical teams do find a cure, receiving on the tongue will be forgotten about and we may never get back to it again.
Probably not but I don't know because they didn't name the school. North Dublin could be anywhere north of the river Liffey. I expect that we'll know the name of the school within the next day or so. Yes, a teenager had been on holiday in Italy, felt unwell and tested positive. I think he had only been back at school for a day or two before getting symptoms. The trouble with the self-isolation routine is that some people can't afford to be off work for weeks without pay. The taxi driver who drove the Belfast woman from the airport to the train station can't go back to work for two weeks but his bills won't disappear.
It is so disturbing. I am still receiving on the tongue when I attend Mass at the convent chapel. Several of us do. But for how long? Adoremus has all my compassion. All of this is so heartbreaking and frightening at the same time but I keep thinking of Jesus asleep in the boat. Saying "how is it you have no faith" and that gives me a gut check.
Driving from Rome to Paris would have taken him through Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy. It's possible and very likely that the priest stopped for a break in Lombardy before crossing into France and caught the virus there. He may well have had friends in Lombardy.
Preach it John!! Great battle cry. I especially like the image of beating our shields and crying out Quis ut Deus?
I don't think that there is a hospital in Vatican city. The Holy Father looked ok to me in that video of him addressing the people in St. Peter's Square. In fact, he looked very well for an 83 year old with a damaged lung and suffering from a cold. If he had the virus he would be in bed being treated by people in hazmat suits but the other person we saw in the room with him wasn't wearing any kind of protective gear. Where is it reported that two of the Pope's assistants are affected? If that's true, it could mean that the Pope is in isolation for the requisite two weeks. The Vatican can't afford to shut down the museums for two weeks, so they will do all they can to make sure that any cases of the virus are dealt with quickly and quietly but they won't risk it spreading to staff who work in the Vatican but live in greater Rome.
More important than that is to get to Confession while it's still available to us. Next weekend is First Friday and Saturday so Confession any time between now and then is good.
That's what caused the closure of at least one school in England although in England it had been a school trip to Italy. The virus doesn't seem to be severe on young people so the lad should be ok.
