During our retreat this weekend we had an O Carm brother from NY speak to us. He Apologized that the Eucharist was not distributed and churches were closed during covid. He was arrested twice for hearing confession and distributing Communion from his car during covid. He had to convince the police he was not a drug dealer working from his car. He was amazing. I'm a civil servant/federal employee too. I have a feeling that this may be the year/winter that they come for us via mandatory vaccination. I've thought it through. Talked it over with my wife. We won't be taking it. No matter what they do. No matter what pressure they apply. We'll not be taking it. We're trying to prepare as best as best we can, for the fallout from that decision. When I think about it, there are saints -- young saints, who gave up everything and suffered so much. They trusted in God. We're going to do the same.
I'm thinking Ireland must be very narrowly focused. Where I live in the US the vacc issue is going away. Very few people are masking up. All the places where you could pick up free test kits are gone. Covid is still around but most people are getting over it. Everything is open, no quarantines or restrictions. The only place you need to mask up is in the Dr office. No mandatory vacc for employment. Most people I know, vacced and unvacced have had covid once or twice. Just sharing with you. In fact, most of the people I know getting covid are the vacced around here.
Same here. Its a non issue. But I am sure as we head to the midterm elections it will become an issue again or at least something will.
Its the same here in Ireland. Covid and vaccination have slunk into the shadows. Masks are worn sparodically etc etc. But I don't believe they've come this far, to let us off the hook now.... They keep it simmering in the background. Name-dropping it into the tail end of news bulletins. Talk shows do little segments on long-civid etc. I think they'll be back with vaccines They'll be back with it or something similar.
Unfortunately, at the hospital where I am in NH all unvaccinated are still required to wear a niosh brand n95 mask (our scarlet letter) and a second mask over that one. We are still mandated to vaccinate, I have a distinctive feeling that once we get hit with another virus it will give them the opportunity to give unvaccinated the boot. God's will be done.

It's a very sad meme. I've been reading obits of young people who died in their sleep. I wonder if they were vaccinated. Many people lined up for their shots early on trusting that they were doing the right thing for themselves and their families. My husband was one of these. Many people were mandated by their jobs or coerced by family, myself included to receive these shots. I held out for as long as I could and tried to choose what I thought was the safest one and took supplements to mitigate any damage. It's ultimately in God's hands what will happen. I pray that the light will shine on all the darkness of lies people were told early on and the health and well being of people who felt they had no choice.
