Yes, wise and wonderful words from a Holy priest. Everything that is happening now has to be directly tied to the angel's warning. Just think of how quickly all of this unfolded; Sister was given the warning but a few months ago. We always talk about time accelerating, seems as though the warnings are as well.
Bottled water if stored in plastic is the problem because the plastic can leach into the water, especially if it is in a warm environment. It doesn't matter if it is a dark or light room. The best way to store water is in glass, bacteria won't penetrate the glass or leach into the water. If the water gets old it can taste flat or funny but is still ok. You can drink rain water if you boil it first for ten minutes. You can drink pond water if you get the tablets for taking out the bacteria in the water. The old hand pump well water is really good if you have access to one. And sometimes if you are not sure, a drop of bleach will keep the water clean.
There is such a thing as powdered coffee creamers like Coffee Mate That keeps awhile Also you can buy canned evaporated milk and use it as you would cream in tea or coffee I’m glad John likes black tea
Lots of chocolate...brownie mix, cookie mix, cake mix and icing...and coffee...don't forget the coffee!
I don't worry too much about expired dates on freeze dried powdered milk. Freeze drying lasts for years. The flavor is not as good as fresh milk though, sometimes a drop of vanilla helps.
Oh I felt foolish too. But I made my list in bed on Sunday night and just went for it today. I told absolutely nobody what I was doing. Just bought the groceries and headed home. I also topped up the tank in the car while I was at it. Before the “beat from the East” in 2018, I was caught badly unprepared. Temps were forecast to be negative for days on end, and the government has announced a status red alert for snow. So, EVERYONE headed to Tesco. I arrived later in the day after work. The shelves were completely empty, and I remember texting photos of the empty shelves to my wife, joking that it looked like a Hollywood movie in the shop. So I bought some items (whatever was left) and headed to the hardware to buy coal. They had no smokeless stove coal left of the brand I usually buy. All they had was lignite. So I bought loads of peat briquettes. When I got home, I realized I had about three days of kerosene in my tank, and no more deliveries were possible. So, life is a great teacher, and I was seriously taught by that experience. Coincidentally Two of my friends have texted me wondering if buying tinned food would be an idea. I’d say many are having the same thought.
You speak for many of us. We have awakened to the shadow play going on around us. We can never unsee or unknow I've been doing this every few days hitting different stores for all these things--paper products too and dishtdetergent and soap toothpaste--stuff you need but dont think about. My pantry is full now. How many actual weeks worth I've got I dont know. I figure if the SHTF I may have my son and his family with us so I am perhaps overpreparing.
Yep. In 1998 we had terrible ice storm that shut down the whole state. No one expected it to be so devastating. Roads were impassable and no electricity. I credit my Guardian angel for giving me a hard nudge 3 weeks before to lay in all those emergency things. My family was very surprised I had us so well taken care of. I was kind of surprised myself and very grateful. It taught me to listen to that "inner voice".
Do you have canned milk? That actually isnt awful in tea. (Evaporated milk. ) Powdered milk is all right. Kind of thin.
if you run out of toothpaste, use a mixture of baking soda with a little bit of salt on the toothbrush (make a little paste, or wet the toothbrush and dip in it) It is a good substitute for toothpaste, but it doesn't taste good, but you might need it.
I am always amazed at those who can drink black coffee. I have tried, but failed. I can drink black tea, but with a teaspoon of sugar. Sigh.
I didn't find Dr. Campbell. Others on the forum did so it's they who deserve the thanks. I think it was AED who recommended Dr. Campbell to me and I sure am grateful to her for that. I'm new to this prepping for Coronavirus. Prior to the outbreak in Italy, I had skimmed over posts on the thread and watched the odd video, thinking that we were ok because China is half a world away and we have no direct transport links with countries in SE Asia. The rapid spread of the virus in Italy made me sit up and take notice and for the past few days I've been like the prophet of doom trying to get my extended family to prepare. At first they thought I had lost my mind but the message seems to be sinking in now. I still can't figure out why folk on the forum seem to be prepping for a very long term lockdown. Isn't it enough to prepare for a lockdown lasting two or three weeks? We usually have enough basic food and other supplies to see us through a couple of weeks without going hungry. Like Indy, however, I've been wondering what about milk for my tea so I'll get some powdered milk. I simply couldn't drink black tea. Supermarkets in southern European countries sell long life milk which lasts for months unopened but must be used within three days after opening. It's also sold in English cities but I've never seen that kind of milk in the supermarkets here. In the grand scheme of things it feels kind of selfish to be worrying about getting the right milk for my tea especially when people are dying from the virus.
I drink coffee black if I make it myself. I like tea black with or without milk and sugar--but when I'm sick I want straight black tea all by itself. So soothing. My mother used to give me green tea with rye toast when I was sick. That always hit the spot.
I know what you mean but I couldnt face this crisis quite as well if I didnt have my very strong cup of coffee first thing in the morning. We need certain things. We just do. Yes it seems selfish I guess but if it helps us to carry on that's s good thing. Right?
