Things are shaping up as I thought they would. The religious exemption has been overturned in New York State via the circuit court. Sunday will be the last day I am serving at the nursing home. I've been told there is only one other deacon in the Diocese whom I can approach to fill in and he already serves as a chaplain in a hospital 4 days a week. Highly dubious, that he'd be willing to add that on, though I'll call him tomorrow. Nursing homes are mandated to provide chaplains to care for Catholic residents (that's actually great). Novavax vaccine is not yet available. This leaves me only two choices if the other deacon declines: refuse the mRNA vaccine and abandon the residents, or take the jab for the sake of residents and become part of the madness, even if that be in obedience to my bishop. Father, let this cup pass me by, but let it be as You will, not I. Your prayers will be appreciated since theory is now confronted by reality. I must remain confident in the Holy Spirit's guidance.
My guess this does not get final decision until it gets to SCOTUS. And I’ve no idea what they will rule. But I’m meantime this I think buys more time for some although many many private employers are on the vac bandwagon. My daughter's religious exemption came through at her hospital that she works at, Thanks be to God. I was told it could take another one to three weeks to hear if my religious exemption is accepted. Human Resources explained that they have been receiving over 100 letters a day from employees seeking exemptions and won't be able to process any sooner.
Hmnnn I wonder if there a Correlation between this record number of people leaving work and these mandates. In any case, it’s really quite staggering…. I talked to a propane supplier today…he can’t get propane tanks for customers and prices for propane doubled. He looked so depressed, yet he was collecting food for the needy for thanksgiving. God bless him.
MC, I thank God for your daughter’s exemption. I am still praying for yours to go through. I’m really sorry, Mario. I will do as miker is doing: pray this weekend and at Mass on Sunday. I don’t think you can go wrong by refusing the shots. There is a higher authority than your Bishop. We are not bound to obey unless it is a question of faith and morals, not an arbitrary decision made by people who are not experts in the medical field concerning a so called vaccine. Our bodies are Temples of the Holy Spirit. God gave us this body and common sense. I for sure would not put aborted fetal tissue or gene-bending substances in my body. That’s my 2 cents. But I am saying this in charity and relating to you how I feel about it. I’m still going to keep praying.

It was HH…. This is going to be the case for so many business owners losing their business, employees losing jobs because of mandates, On and on…. I don’t think we will ever get back to our old normal. Life has changed….
