Woohoo Praise God for this great news! You continue to be in my prayers with the front line work you are doing in this crazy and dangerous time. Stay safe!
Do you ever see any of them interviewed on programmes other than the World Over? I think that there has been something of a shift in EWTN. Nothing dramatic or in your face but I had noticed it a while ago, especially on their nightly news. Incidentally, I recall reading a recent post on the forum about a disagreement some traditionalists have had with their Bishop. I can't recall the details but there was something about priests not being permitted to facilitate people who wished to kneel for Communion. If I remember correctly, the traditionalists had been making unreasonable demands on the Bishop but I thought it strange that the Bishop's statement included a reference to sending information to the Vatican. Maybe it's unrelated but the attached report in Rorate Caeli could be a heads up for lovers of the TLM: https://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2020/04/breaking-questionaire-on-summorum.html Michael Matt can be a bit blunt but I wouldn't dismiss his warnings out of hand. Saying that, I don't watch all his videos and probably didn't see the one you're referring to.
I may be wrong Padraig, but I don't recall Michael Matt going off on EWTN, but Michael Voris did recently:
Great response Dolores. I live in the U.S. We are a country of bull headed patriots for the most part who analyze everything to pieces. It seems that our country is sorely divided between liberals and conservatives. But for the most part, when the people get fed up, well they get fed up. Most of them that I know of are tired of staying inside. Spring is here and they are headed to the beaches in the south . . .even if they are threatened with $1000 fines. Are they going to arrest 5,000 people? I don't think so. Just practice self distancing, wear the mask, wash hands often and go about your business. The people who should self quarantine are the elderly and those with underlying health issues. I got a note from our parish today that the church is opening everyday from 10 to 5 for anyone who wants to stop by and pray. This is in Alabama. In Michigan where alot of my relatives live, spring will be in full tilt in another two weeks. There is no way those people are staying inside after being cooped up all winter, I don't care what their dictator governor Witmer says. Also, the numbers have been inflated. For instance, they were making a big deal in Michigan that a five year old died. They said it was covid. Well, she had meningitis, but because covid antibodies showed up in her they called it a covid death. And we know the tests are not accurate. So, people are really questioning the numbers. Fortunately, no one in the U.S. has been denied a respirator that needed one. And most of the 'emergency hospitals' have been discontinued. Tomorrow our personal physician has a phone appt. with me and my husband. Since we have not gone to the office the insurance company will let the Dr. do a phone call and can be paid. So they can have an income still. We are doing fine, haven't needed to see the Dr. But no one has been denied medical care. Most of us feel the 'masks' are just a teddy bear to make people feel good. It doesn't really stop the virus . . .they are hard to clean and reuse but if it gives a feeling of security, go for it. 85% of the people dying from the virus are over 65, so I am in the vulnerable age group. I really think many people will still get it, can build up antibodies, some will still expire, but we will get through this.
I am more than a little concerned at the Holy Father's decision to review things. Goodness knows what this will lead to. https://www.thetablet.co.uk/news/12819/pope-orders-review-of-old-rite-
Interesting questions being sent out, I wonder what the responses will look like. I know in my area the FSSP parish has added a Mass on Sundays and has grown by probably 35% in the last few years. https://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2020/04/breaking-important-summorum-under.html#more
Oh well time will tell. But you would wonder with all else going on the World and in the Church that they should home in on this particular issue.
I think that masks are important because they restrict the distance the droplets can travel in the air. We were told that the virus couldn't be contained in China because it doesn't respect international boundaries so stopping travel from China was pointless. The same people are telling us now that the virus can be contained by restricting the movement of people inside the country. We're expected to believe that a virus that doesn't respect international borders will respect county boundaries. Oxford University has a vaccine undergoing human trial. Please God it will be successful. Otherwise, we'll go through the same nightmare when the next 'flu season begins. President Trump said that America should soon have more than enough ventilators which could be helpful for poor countries. The press didn't bother to report that.
Vaccines to this type of virus do not work. I have read that there is still no successful vaccine for sars or mers. Why would that be any different for this virus? There is lots of stuff coming out that does actually work. When the msm attacked Trump for talking about sunlight and disinfectants, now drs, scientist and others coming forward saying he is right. So stay tuned. I for one will never take a vaccine for Covid and I urge all Christians to do the same. The vaccines in development are using aborted fetus tissue for testing. No way will I introduce the horrors of such a sin into my body!
Completely agree. I have never taken the vaccine for flu or pneumonia. I have been ridiculed for not doing it by other family members. I have often wondered over many years, there is a vaccine for the flu but the flu shot does not guarantee you will not get the flu. So the point of the vaccine is what? I don't badger anyone for making that decision for themselves or their families. But I will not take a covid vaccine. It will not cure it so what is the point. I am done with over reaching globalists.
a suggestion I wanted to make in these times of anguish and concern would be to include a psalm asking for special protection for you and your family during the rosary, for example Psalm 91 at the end of each Hail Holy Queen, and not only asking for the protection of lives but also of jobs as the crisis caused by the quarantine has generated a lot of unemployment worldwide. And also to include all the people in the forum in the intention (as many already do)
Hillary Clinton, who came scarily close to being president, wrote her senior college thesis on Saul Alinsky and even arranged a speaking visit for him at Wellsley College. As Father Ripperger says Hillary Clinton is an occultist and probably a pedophile. She is closely linked to Jeffrey Epstein, of pedophile island fame, and Marina Abramovic, the spirit cooking satanist. She rabidly supports abortion at all stages . President Obama got his start with George Soros funded ACORN where he learned Alinsky's tactics for community organizing. Obama and Clinton are of the same ideological ilk: the more socialism/communism the better, the bigger and more controlling the government the better and the more national identity can be destroyed by flooding the country with immigrants the better. President Trump's defeat of Hillary gave good Americans an extreme sigh of relief. Unlike Democrats Trump embraces Christianity very publicly and is anti-abortion. He supports individual freedoms, has encouraged economic growth (unlike Obama) and has tried to extricate the US from foreign wars. While this doesn't fully highlight the differences between the two sides, you should understand that there is a huge spiritual battle in American politics between good and evil. Not supporting Trump implies embracing a communistic, controlling, anti-life government. TheDemocrats and global elite controlled media have spent the last 5 years doing nothing but trying to utterly destroy Trump because he stands in the way of their evil agenda. The extremely biased media does a great job of painting him in the worst possible light, does it not? Why spend time criticizing Trump while he is at war with great forces of evil. People of goodwill who understand the battlefield and the players don't . We support him and pray for him.
Yes, I've seen a lot of those allegations about Clinton before. Again, apologies if you feel my comments were misplaced. If Trump is doing all that you say he is, then fair enough, he deserves support. Perhaps the level of emotion around all this is not felt as strongly here. We don't have such a deep divide politically (yet).
Most people in Ireland unquestioningly believe what they read in their newspapers or hear on their radios and televisions, which is simply an echo of the base narrative of the mainstream media elsewhere. I've been openly expressing my admiration for Donald Trump since 2015 and have yet to meet an Irish person who admits to agreeing with me. I suspect some might, but they feel it is not politically acceptable to do so.
It really is amazing how powerful the narrative of "orange man bad" has spread throughout the world on no basis for the argument.
True, I suppose we all have a 'skewed' idea of how things are in other countries depending on where we get our information. It might also be a cultural thing. I think a lot of people here, without making a detailed analysis, might find his WWE / trash talk approach off putting and tend not to take him too seriously. I'm sure it's different if you're living in America and dealing with the political situation day to day. He seems to have a lot of supporters, so I suppose he must be doing something right.
