Hmmm. I would ask this priest if he believes in the Real Presence. Or if he cares that this kind of sacrilege may very well make Our Lord a very unhappy person.
I don't doubt that this particular priest believes in the true presence, I know he does. I think the problem is that, like many people I've come across, they think that Jesus wouldn't mind. He'd be cool with it, in fact he'd be delighted to be part of it.
I think you are right about this attitude. That is similar to what I was experiencing with Fr Rodrigue and his talks.
I think you mean the Cathedral in Mullingar been used for the fleadh and so charging people to enter, I think its terrible.
I don't want to judge Clergy who organise these things and be too harsh. I am sure they mean well. But it's true that the Road to Hell are paved with good intentions. Sometimes as the Holy Father says maybe I am rigid and puritanical and right wing, a real smuck. But what can you do? I just think these things are really, really bad. They stink in fact. I am open to the possibility of being wrong about this and a lot of other things. May God grant me the grace to see this if I am. But what can we do? Only state things as our consciences show us. My own conscience is horrified by it all. There is no way it would let me get involved in any of these things. It would just scream the roof off. My conscience can fairly howl if it gets annoyed. It would deafen me.
Another Cathedral, wow, worse again! I heard that about Galway Cathedral too unfortunately a few years ago. Its definitely a growing phenomenon, unfortunately.
