on the other hand, I just don't visit the political threads because I find them to disturbing to my soul...and I do that with any thread I feel may have a debate I don't need to be involved with...so I guess in reality it's no skin off my nose...but for the question of whether a forum named MOG should host threads of that nature, that is a different question completely. Not sure what the answer to that is. I think Padraig really tries to respect everybody's freedom to express themselves here and I really admire that about Padraig.
I'm sorry some feel politics to be disturbing to the soul. I truly am. But I come from a family who was persecuted, and jailed for the simple reason of opposing the politics of communism. Politics is a way of life. And unless we are educated in history, we will repeat its mistakes. I apologize if I have offended those who find politics beneath their social norm. But you see when they dragged my grandfather to prison because he would not let go of his business or his Catholic religion, it became clear to my family, that because so many were ignorant on the politics, that they ended up supporting such a monstrous government. Those of us who have witnessed bad politics know its repercussions. May the Holy Spirit enlighten us all.

For me, I don't need to read other people's discussions is all....My husband and family and I discuss this in our home all the time...

Please close this thread. I don't see much Catholic social doctrine discussed here, it's more of a partisan outlet. (Some posters spend most of their time posting political things here and not on spiritual threads.) I feel it is damaging to the peace of the forum.
I liken this thread to a bunch of kids arguing over who's dad is the strongest but in this case the two dads are aguing over who's going to be the next captain of the Titanic. (I suggest) Shut it down and lets get back to the Blessed Mother of God.
I have tried not to get upset with the poor choices we have this election cycle. I still believe what Charlie Johnston has predicted. From one of his blog posts- ""I have often said there will be no presidential election this year. I would love to believe in Charlie Johnston's predictions, because they give an end date to this terrible series of events and a promise of rescue for us and our families. However, I still have doubts. As someone mentioned on another thread, Charlie said Pope Francis would make a "major blunder" in 2015, but then recover and vigorously lead the church on the road to victory. I am not sure what the blunder was, but I don't see the clouds of confusion surrounding Francis clearing. (I trust the Holy Spirit on this, that Francis is the Pope he wants, but so many of my friends are unsettled by him still.)
I hope this is true. I am afraid I am one of the unsettled ones myself. I would love nothing better than to be proved wrong. But God gave me a mind and I can'thepl it working overtime. But, like I say I'd love nothing better than the clouds to go and to be proven worng.
I'm pretty sure Charlie said Pope Francis would make a "major blunder" but I can't remember him ever giving a date. So the blunder could be last year, this year or next. The only date he is adamant about is the Rescue in late 2017.
I could be wrong (relying on my memory doesn't always work). But if the major blunder hasn't arrived yet, I'm scared.
I think he may have already committed his major blunder. .. in taking advise from people he would have been better not listening too. But I'll not write more in case I start another major boxing match. I would have sent Cardinal Kasper as a missionary to the moon for a start. One way ticket.
