Blizzard, This is where the above article (post 160) pours on the guilt trip. Brandalyn was so looking forward to a lot of kids, but once the carbon footprint was taken into account, the thought of a large family became ludicrous! What a bunch of hogwash. I think Fatima and I would agree. Raising a large family simply means you make due with less, sticking with essentials rather than buying frills. I must honestly say that I doubt my family had anything close to 58 metric tonnes per kid. How could we afford that on $35000- 40000/yr. Yet all of our kids have not only survived, but have gone to college to boot. Thank you God, my Provider!
Yes, hogwash and lies of Satan. Yes, thank God for providing and making a way. You and Fatima did the will of God.
Children are true riches--the riches that matter. The Bible repeatedly says they are s gift from the Lord. Those who choose life are blessed a hundred hundred fold.
I went to a local store this week. I bought a small item. The woman working the register asked me if I needed a bag. I said no. She then thanked me for saving mother earth! PLEASE! I wonder how she would react if I told her I had 10 brothers and sisters. And because we married so late, I only had 6 kids of my own!
CCC 2373: "Sacred Scripture and the Church’s traditional practice see in large families a sign of God’s blessing and the parents’ generosity”
I know what it was like to march my 11 children around. Especially in all their sporting events. One Saturday, when my oldest son was playing college ball, we watched 9 basketball games in one day with our kids between college, high school, junior high and YMCA ball games.
