Im not against Traditionalists at all myself,as long as they stay in the Boat. But many say we didn't leave Rome, Rome left us! Many have a soft spot for SSPX Traditionalists and lines get blurred for sure sometimes
An interesting perspective on visionaries of our times is how my wife and I react so differently. My wife is very much open and accepting to most visionaries. Occasionally, she will discern right from the start that some are off base and just ignores. But others, she is quite open. Over the years, she has been to Medjugorie, gone to a Mass said by Fr. Slatko(so?) , and several other "visionaries" mentioned in this forum. I, on the other hand, am the compete sceptic (the classic doubting Thomas). In a way, and my wife gets really annoyed by this about me , feel I'm like a watchman on these visionaries. I have never said "no" to these but I sense as a husband and father, I need to watch and if I see something that just seems "wrong" or that can harm us, I will jump in a bit. And we have had a few "rows" - but I think they are healthy for our marriage and family. I will say, like Padraig, my alert lights go on when they ask for money and my other trigger is when they act disobediently to Church ruling and authority. It's not easy and am I potentially "missing" out? The answer is probably yes, but I also know that there are "wolves in sheeps clothing" out there and I need to be a shepherd to my family. So I see all of this a bit in this light. I don't think there is a clear "wrong" or "right" but a role for all of us to play. Finally, I agree about the power of the Holy Spirit in helping us discern. But, I would say this discernment is more about the daily and I dare say mundane things of the world rather than discerning visionaries. As my youngest was confirmed this last weekend, the bishop told the young people to use the new gifts of the Hoky Spirit to discern true friends from those who would led you astray. To use the gifts to stay away from drugs, alcohol and sex. To use the gifts of the Spirit to be the light of Christ in a darkened world. I thought this advice was not just good for the young to hear, but reconfirmed me in my vocation as husband, father, and follower of Jesus Christ.

Keeping Grounded in Trying Times Posted on April 26, 2015 by charliej373 " The proposition that good can only be done without reference to God is at the heart of the spirit of antichrist – and the cultural and governmental coercive enforcement of that is, I believe, the mark of the beast. You embrace and submit or don’t – and take the consequences. It takes an active act of the moral will. It may be subtle, it may be seductive, but it must require an active act of the moral will for you to be held accountable..." Back in 1990's I used to go to Mass at a Byzintine Monastery and afterward Father Joseph would teach the Faith using Foundamentals of Catholicism by Fr Kenneth Baker ( if memory serves me right) Anyway, Fr spoke of the 666 mark of the Beast on the hands of forehead... ( REV 20 V4 and who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. ) Fr Joseph taught us the MARK is basically the work of your hands or the thoughts you act open, that do evil deeds ... so I totally agree with Charlie on this point !
Interesting perspective on this and I do understand the why we don't need this but I also see why it is good to look for the present speaking of the Lord. We absolutely do not need it because why look to tomorrow if we are not living this day and this moment as it is our last. We should be prepared to face the judge at any moment so tomorrow does not matter and yesterday do not matter. But, at the same time, I feel if God is speaking to the world, I want to hear what He has to say. He has always done this and we know He does not change. So what does the bible show us about God speaking? Lots! Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, and I change not: and you the sons of Jacob are not consumed. Hebrews 13: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. so if the Lord does not change and is the same, yesterday, today and forever, then if he spoke to the people all throughout history in the bible, then of course He would be speaking now. We also know that he speaks to us because he told us he would: Acts 2: [16] But this is that which was spoken of by the prophet Joel: [17] And it shall come to pass, in the last days, (saith the Lord,) I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. So if we are in the last days, or further if every day could be the last days, then the Lord is speaking to us. Would it not be prudent for us to listen? Scripture gives us the following to ponder in this discussion: Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. John 10: 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 2 Corinthians 4:4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. We know there was and will be false prophets looking to blind us from the true words of God then and now. 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds. Hebrews 1:1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. God does not change, He spoke long ago, He would speak now too. We have proof of this through the many saints and mystics of the church. The saints and mystics heard and relayed then so current mystics and would be saints declared in the future would be hearing and relaying now. John 16:7 Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. Does not the helper still come to bring the word of God? Mark 16: 14 Afterward he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen. Again, God does not change. He appeared to the apostles and rebuked them when they did not believe. Does He not appear now? And if he does reveal himself now and they do not deliver the message to be heard, aren't they disobeying? If God is speaking and his modern day prophets are delivering messages, aren't they supposed to be heard and thus they are to be heard from someone ie all of us? Mathew 5: 6 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. That is enough for now. One could site a lot of the OT regarding God speaking through His prophets.
