It rips the core of the soul apart. That part where God resides is ripped apart. The soul is destroyed. The spirit is completely broken, it affects the mind too. It becomes very difficult to reconcile that part of the soul to God where he resides, because all trust has gone. It is devastating.. You saw what Tsunamis do to Countrys.. That is what happens in the soul after child sexual abuse. It takes God a long time to repair this, because trust is such an issue, and even then, the soul is so destroyed. It is shattered. It takes a long time to rebuild if ever fully healed. Complete healing doesn't fully take place until Heaven. I am sure that there are many silent victims here. I am so sorry for what has happened to you. It is the toughest thing to talk about. I get courageous when I think of other victims (for I know that I am not alone) I am also compelled to speak out against a lie. My faith is God's miracle to me, He gives me many graces.
I don't really want to speak about it, but I have to explain the damage that is done. A person learns to fear God, fear relationships. It takes a person a long time, if ever to even trust God. As He too is person. Three divine persons. I am one of the lucky ones. Some commit suicide. To say that these are punished for taking their own lives is indeed an injustice, they just can't take the pain anymore, they can't live with the devastation. So to say that perpetrators cannot help themselves without a thought of the victim is morally wrong. This cardinal represents Christ. How are victims supposed to turn to Christ if they think that His views are the same?
When I was very young, about 13 pr 24 I took our old Black Labrador down town a walk and lost her round a bout the train station. A man came up to me and offered me a lift in his car to help find her. I was very young and innocent back then and accepted his offer, thinking he was kind. He drove us out of the city and started up the mountains. I guessed at once something was worng and when he put his hand on me knee I opened the car door and prepared to jump out..even though the car was travelling and speed. The man was frightened realising I meant it and stopped the car. i got out. He drove off at speed. The police were called and because I had noticed the car had dual pedals and belonged to a driving instructor he was quickly caught and brought to court. He had a history. Because I had been ready to jump and would have almost certainly been killed he got a heavy sentce ten years. I don't hate him , I pray for him. But still I think there is something evil about all this. I am not writing from emotion, I jsut think a line has to be drawn. I was blessed no harm came to me but a sour memory, others, as MC wrote are scarred forever. It realy is the most atrocious sin and of course it is a crime. That's why they jail them. As my man found out.
The Church has been so wounded by the pedophile scandal,...to say something like what this Archbishop said is like throwing salt into an open wound. There are still so many still attacking the Church because of this.
I used to believe they needed to loose their fingers for doing this crime and some. This is one crime I cannot take lightly. I read a book years ago, the Best Kept Secret, I threw it away ..it was just horrendeous, what happens to children and what fathers allowed in this particular country to happen to their own babies, some babies died from repeated rapings( men were allowed to come into these homes and torture the innocent, ( sorry I cannot remember the country, I am afraid to announce it for error) then a law was passed that they could no longer do this and it got worse..God Bless America for it is not allowed here but it still occurs everywhere, human trafficking, familial problems, the women allow this to occur since they feel like that they cannot make it on their own...horrifying. They need to be jailed and get therapy, an exorcist maybe too! So sorry to hear Mary's child... it is all too commmon, as I understand 1/4 children will experience it in their lifetime or go hungry too. I just watched: A place at the table," last night for all those that are hungry in America when they have the most food. Again they are working on it,..we shall see what prevails, we are going broke. I was shocked to hear that .99 cents is what they spend on each childs lunch and breakfast in the school system for the money also goes towards all the employees, we are in bad shape..welfare , what they said about that is true to, the more one tries to help themselves, the more they starve since they cannot keep up with the increase in cost of it all.
Has anyone read about Africa and FGM? Female Genital Mutilation They used to practive this and also sent these doctors to the US and various countires to perform this horrible surgeries on women, they were mutilated, bound, and did not recieve any anethesia. ( they were tracked down...not sure this occurs anymore or not..devastating indeed)
It is awful and unfortunately it does still happen and in our Countries too. There are leaflets letting girls know that this is abuse and is illegal. There is also advice for teachers to be on the look out.. Such as a girl missing a lot of time off school, or talking about a special ceremony that is to take place.. For first they are celebrated, put on special clothes etc, then this torture takes place. Other things to look out for and talking about hurting down below. They are as young as 5 when they have this done. It is horrendous.
Mary's child thank you informing us this still occurs today, it has been a good while since I read about this and others. I quit reading it since it made me extremely upset... When my niece went to Guatemala, I feared for the worst, the human trafficking and all. She said in the orphanage they lived on beans, pasta and rice 3 x's a day. The water was no good either. And after last night, it is true, these people cannot get out of this rut, ramen noodles, chips, and the packaged stuff is abundant, unhealthy and affordable..whereas fruits and vegetables are not available in these remote small towns. The food for the starving Americans is canned and packaged unhealthy items. Now with the increase in cost, regardless people cannot afford to buy healthy foods anymore.
Our world has turned upside down. Sin is rationalized, guilt has been done away with and good people are deemed to be misguided or judgmental and nothing but a pain in the backside. For they stand against all that is morally wrong and make governments answerable for what they do. Is it any wonder that they will and are already trying to do away with faith. There is so much injustice in this world.
Eienstein was correct, "I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots." technology has its' pros and cons, in moderation. Back to prayer, back to God..I think it will take the warning to be more effective unfortunately. When the world gets to be at its worst. In my opinion there are very few watchmen.
we may be seeing the first step of deep division. I'm sure this priest/bishop is not alone in this twisted view. there is a new sheriff in town, and they want to test where the boundaries are. I hope that boundary is right in his face. I'm confident Pope Francis will set the tone and have the final word. My prayers are with our new pope being tested so early. here in the US, there are some states that have very, very soft laws for pedophiles and rapists. Bill O'Reilly of Fox is using his show in a positive way to expose these states and put pressure on them to pass very tough punishments for these criminals (Jessica's Law). He is also speaking a lot about abortion in this country. I'm sure some people don't like Bill O'Reilly (he used to be a real screamer in his younger days...he's mellowed since then), but he is defending life very strongly on his show...I think God is using him in a positive way to speak with conviction on these issues. below is a link for his opening last week where he spoke of the soft laws. push for late term abortions, and why he thinks its happening (disregard for our children). i tend to agree with him. http://www.billoreilly.com/video?chartID=556&vid=-408905663665273487#play
I read this earlier and just had to go away and pray. Satan has wasted no time in attacking, he truly never sleeps. I know a wonderful man who just borders on being a saint, his writings are so beautiful. I often wonder if he may have missed being called to be a priest{and a good holy one} by what happened to him. He said the hardest thing he ever did was finally go into a confessional again. Every time some church official comes out with some statement such as this, he is set off again, ranting at the church. This is just a slap in the face to people who have been abused, especially by someone in the church. I was watching the Journey Home on EWTN and the person said that they came into the catholic church, because of the scandals in all the protestant churches. satan is attacking all christians, but he knows where the real attack must be against--the Catholic Church, with the daily offering of the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. God have mercy on us, with bishops such as these. We must really pray for God's mercy that His chastisements will be lessened. O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee, and for those who do not, enemies of Holy Church{especially those within our Church} those who are far from God's love, and those who have petitions put forth before thee!
My heart goes out to every innocent who has been subjected to this form of abuse. May God protect you, and Mary wrap you in her mantle. I haven't read the article because of the way I first came across it. I had decided to have a look at the BBC news site, specifically because I wanted to see more good news from the Catholic Church, but that headline was among the top few. My first instinct was that it was deliberately included so as to detract from the feeling of goodwill that had built up in recent days. Crackpot statements are made all the time. Why was this published now? If a member of Reuters or the BBC said something similar how likely is it that the story would make global headlines? Somebody somewhere deliberately created that story with the specific intention of making Mary's Child and others feel bad, especially re. the Catholic Church. We have the Good News. Please God do not let the agents of the bad news influence us. Amen
They will never break my faith and trust in God Bartimaeus. His love now dwells so deeply in my soul. And I am free to allow Him to do this. True, scars remain. But My God's love carries me through. This is why I constantly tell people to contemplate God's love for them on the cross. So many healings happen here and graces are given. Yes, that awful thing happened to me, but unless I am caught unawares, I don't think about it unless it is in the light of God's love for me. Christ's cross and mine are united. Thank you.
Great tidbit from the good archbishop! I wish I could hear his take on how to put out the flaming torch. Safe in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!
I see he has since retracted his statement and apologised: http://www.rte.ie/news/2013/0318/377193-cardinal-wilfrid-apology/
