I guess I tend to agree with your summation. It seemed to me that a select few consistently tried to shut down reasonable discussion on some of the Pope's questionable statements and actions. It seemed to roll on endlessly, and ultimately caused exasperation of those whom they were trying to belittle. That is why I feel the overall direction of the forum has been dominated by this debate in several threads, and you can probably tell which side of that debate I lean towards based on what I said above, though I usually don't jump in on those. My point is that, while those doctrinal issues are extremely important and relevant, I don't personally spend time engaged in this MOG forum to battle other Catholics. I like spending time here mostly on other topics (like eschatology, private revelation, spiritual preparation, the Warning, The Mother of God....) but it seems like this climate of battle (from 2 or 3 sides) is now a generalized presence here, and is sending people off. That doesn't mean the tide of this forum isn't exactly where it's supposed to be, or exactly where Padraig wants it to be. It's just my perception and preference.
I agree. Most faithful Catholics come on to forums like this in the expectation that they will not encounter the open heresy and dissent from church teaching that is par for the course in most of their daily lives. Moreover they don't expect to be faced with a barrage of insults and sanctimonious drivel from people who do not know what they are talking about.
You and " the created one" below can consider youself included if your ignorance of basic church teaching manifests itself in open hostility to faithful Catholics who charitably defend same.
I wish Charlie were on here and we could get back to good discussions instead of hijacking his thread...! Peace...peace...peace!!
Malachi you are a very mean spirited person and not very intellectual. You are all huff and puff...and continue to spew your rubbish. You really bothered me today but in reality you bring nothing to the conversation except hot air. There is not one spiritual insight. Maybe that is why you continue to attack because you really have nothing to say. Good luck on your journey.
Lets draw the line folks. Enough. Go to your corners and if you don't have anything nice to say, dont say it. The satan desires division. Don't give him the key to the door for you to get kicked off the forum. Enough. Go read our Lady's messages.
Life of Christ by Saint Fulten Sheen The closer a person approaches God, the less worthy he feels. A painting under a candlelight shows fewer defects then under the brilliance of the sun: so too the souls who are some distance from God feel more certain of their moral integrity then those that are very close to Him. Those that have left the lights and glamours of the world, and for years have been irradiated by His continuance, have been the foremost to acknowledge themselves as freighted down with the great burden of sin. St. Paul, who has been such a edification to men, called himself "the chief of sinners". In the presence of the holiest of creatures, the soul becomes self-accusing and broken-hearted with the weight of its defects. As evil men feel their guilt more in the presence of an innocent babe then in the companionship of those who are wicked like themselves, so he who loves God is the most deeply burdened with the sense of his own unworthiness. Not sure how this fits but it was the first paragraph in my spiritual reading tonight. I thought it fit...maybe just my imagination. May Gods Will be Done
You consider yourself to be a yoda of the spiritual life. There's not much to you sir; you have the spiritual insight of a field mouse. Read my posts. I merely reiterated basic Church teaching along with a few others. For that we met ridicule. If you want to join their ranks by all means do so but don't expect to go unchallenged in future.
Fallen saint, I don't want to get into one-upmanship but I got this accolade from Malachi... View attachment 4425
Since this thread has been hijacked and since today is Charlie & Kathy's birthday, I have started another thread. Those who would like to get back on track can go there.
Obviously no one has to believe this but I think it's a fairly pertinent reminder...look at the Cross & pray...and I'll try to start with myself. Medjugorje Feb 2016: “Dear children! In this time of grace, I am calling all of you to conversion. Little children, you love little and pray even less. You are lost and do not know what your goal is. Take the Cross, look at Jesus and follow Him. He gives Himself to you to the death on the Cross, because He loves you. Little children, I am calling you: return to prayer with the heart so as to find hope and the meaning of your existence, in prayer. I am with you and am praying for you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
I do love that motto. Used in the War I think. Always brings a smile. I like to think of it with the boys in 1916 Dublin
The ignore button is your friend it brought peace back to Our Lady's forum for me. And it's scriptural, just shake the dust and move on
Projection seems to be the primary attack of the (dis)loyal opposition. They accuse others of that which they are most obviously guilty.
