Did any of you follow the interview Raymond Arroyo did with Cardinal Muller? I have been watching it and watching it again and again all day. My first take is that this gentleman is very,very holy indeed (Raymond Arroyo I would say is holy too) I wonder did any one else get the strong impression that the Holy and very wise and Catholic Cardinal is distancing himself from Pope Francis and his, 'Friends' and was being astonishingly frank and honest? My mouth fell open listening to him. I think in some ways, to me, this trumps Vigano. I feel receently this is all a dream, all that is happening. A profound sense of unreality. Don't just listen to what the Holy Cardinal is saying, listen to what he is not saying; what he is implying. How very,very sad when a very holy straight talking Faithful Cardinal surprises me. It reminds me me of the words of Jesus of Nicodemus, 'Here is an Israelite without guile'.
Yes, I watched it too. It reminded me of the Akita message of "Cardinal against Cardinal." What a lot of suffering he has endured. And no doubt he will be in more hot water over this interview and will experience yet more suffering as a result of it. I had to listen very carefully as the Cardinal's accent is not easy for me to process. Definitely worth watching more than once and it would be great to have a transcript of the interview. He was being very cautious but it became obvious that , yes, he was forced to drop his investigation of Cardinal Cormack Murphy- O'Connor by the intervention of Pope Francis. That is VERY troubling indeed and heads will roll. How fortunate we are to have access to interviews like this where the truth is exposed.
Good , Holy but maybe a tad innocent. I always preferred dogs that would kill anyone that looked at me the wrong way.. and guns that did what I intended. . He look s a little too much like a Labrador than an Akita. But I suspect he is starting to grow a few teeth, like Vegano. Better late than never.
I love the good Cardinal Mueller. He is as gentle and innocent as a child, yet is cut from the same cloth as Rommel. It’s going to take another Panzer Cardinal to clean up this mess, and Mueller might just be our next Pope.

NEW YORK, October 5, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Cardinal Gerhard Müller, the Vatican’s former doctrinal chief, told EWTN’s Raymond Arroyo that both Pope Francis and the Synod cannot change the doctrine of the Church. Cardinal Müller, the former head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) told Arroyo on “The World Over” last night that Pope Francis’ “friends” may have “a strange idea that the doctrine of the Church is too hard” but that neither they nor the pope can do anything to change it. “The Pope is not the boss of the Church,” Müller said. “The Pope cannot do [whatever] he wants.” Müller and Arroyo had been discussing the recent Synods which the TV host likened to “mini-Vatican 2’s.” The Cardinal conceded that there was a movement to change doctrine behind the synods, but that it was impossible for a synod or a pope to do that. “A Synod of the bishops is not an ecumenical council,” Müller said. “It has no authority. Even if the pope is speaking about authority, it is not a magisterial authority. The Pope cannot change the basic constitution of the Church. He cannot give a new definition of the primacy of the bishop of Rome or what bishops are to do.” Müller concedes that there is a movement to change the doctrine of the Church lying behind recent Synods, but that radical change is impossible. “There is a development of doctrine, but if you say today ‘A’ and tomorrow ‘B’, from A to B is not a development [but] a contradiction. And it is absolutely impossible for anyone in a state of mortal sin ... to receive Holy Communion before he has confessed his sin and received absolution. There is no possibility to change this basic fundamental of sacramentology.” As his example, Müller stated that homosexual acts can never be considered licit. “... According to the Sixth Commandment, [to] sexual morality, there is no way to an acceptance of homosexuality as a practice,” he said. “It is against the Sixth Commandment, and the only... legitimate realization of sexuality for us Christians according to laws of God Himself is legitimate marriage.” But Arroyo challenged the cardinal on his belief that the Synod cannot change doctrine. He pointed out that the Pope wrote in the new Apostolic Constitution that Synod’s “final documents, with the approval of Peter, the Pope, has magisterial authority.” Müller replied that he did not know from what source this statement developed from. “It seems to be a contradiction to the First Vatican Council and the Second Vatican Council,” he said. “The ordinary magisterium is what the Church is teaching today and not a Synod because [although] a Synod is an assembly of some bishops, it is not an ecumenical council.” Meanwhile, even if the Pope were to declare that its documents were his own magisterial teaching, this would be limited to what is in accord with doctrine, the CDF ex-chief said. “The teaching of the Pope must always be in concordance ... with the teaching of the Holy Scripture and the Apostolic Tradition and [with what] all the magisterium before has said,” Müller insisted. “He cannot be in contradiction [to it].” While contemplating the Youth Synod and a future Synod that may reevaluate the importance of celibacy for the priesthood, Müller turned again to thoughts of the false friends of Pope Francis. “These people at the side of the Pope who are his ‘friends’, they have this strange idea that the doctrine of the Church is too hard,” he said “…. Always they are saying that we must listen to the People of God, and that the bishops have to listen to the People of God.” “It’s a strange idea,” he repeated. “The whole People of God, lay people and the bishops, first have to listen to the Word of God. We are not the masters of the Church, and also the Pope is not the boss of the Church. He cannot do what he wants.” The Cardinal reminded Arroyo that Benedict XVI had said that the Pope is the person in the Church most bound by revealed truth and the revealed faith. “I think that at the side of the Pope there are many people with a very low understanding of Catholic theology,” Müller said. “To be the counsellors of the Pope [you] must be very profound theologians. The Pope must listen to experts.” The cardinal pointed out that the Church is a sacrament, sign and “instrument for the intimate union of God with man”, not a “worldly organization” or a political party “who can change the program according to the voters.” He also took issue with a misuse of the name of the Holy Spirit as an excuse to introduce “new revelation.” “It’s very important to listen to what God is saying to us, but not in the Evangelical, Pentecostal way as a new revelation of the Holy Spirit,” Müller said. “Revelation is fulfilled in Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit reminds us of what Jesus has said,” he continued. “We cannot change revelation, and the doctrine of the Church must be faithful to the Word of God, to the revelation that is given in Jesus Christ, once and forever.”
He is so good and wise and holy but I think there is a like of understanding of the reality of the true evil he faces in the Vatican. A relaity Archbishop Vigano I think understands so well. So for instance Cardianl Muller wants Archbishop Vigano to be, 'Reconciled', with Pope Francis. Well you know I am very,very dubious about this. Should good be reconciled with evil? Is reconciliation always a good thing? I don't think so really. You find thsi in life itself. Sometimes you meet someone who is very, very bad maybe even pure evil. Perhpas someone at work perhaps a new neighbour and you know right away that the less you have to do with that eprosn is stay as far away from him or her as you possibily get. A good for instance of this flight syndrome is the Holy Family with Kind Herod , they fled right away to Egypt. I think Archbishop is a very, very wise person to fleee as far from Pope Francis as he can get. So although Cardinal Mueller is a very wise, leanrd and holy man I think he more than a little innocent , which is such a shame. Why is this? I have no idea. Perhaps he has never had dealings with truly evil people. I ahve had many dealings with purely evil people myself and I assure you the last thing I would want to do is to be, 'Reconciled ', with them. Some of these folks all they wanted to ever do was to kill me. It's such a pity you often find this innocense with clerics. For instance they don't seemt o see child molestors as purely evil people. ..and you don',t show, 'mercy', to pure evil , you fight it and crush it. This is why when you look at a statue of Our Blessed Lady you often see her crushing the head of the snake; she knows how to deal with evil; no false mercy there.
There is a wonderful story about, i think it was Pope Pius ix. One time he discovered a French Cardinal had fallen into sexual indiscretions. He invited him to the Vatican and greeted the guy by called him , 'Mister' and took his red hat from him and sent him on his way, no longer even a pirest just plain, Mister' That's the right way.
Love this guy. He is a true believer and true representative of Christ. He is clearly versed on what is happening. He seems gentle but was clearly cleaning house in his role. Not weak or a push over. He conveys the truth in clear and simple way because it is that way. Be happy if he ended up Pope. So no investigation is allowed on bishops or cardinals without the popes OK. This explains a lot.
Thanks, Padraig, for posting this. I often watch the World Over but didn't see the interview with Cardinal Muller. Thank God for Cardinals like Muller and Vigano. I pray that there are more like them. We'll find out soon enough.
I was amazed to see him on EWTN Dolores. There is a lot going on here behind the scenes we know nothing whatsoever about. I would say Pope Francis choked on his pasta when he heard about this. Who knows what is going on really? We can only guess. Did you notice Cardinal Mueller's eyes? Very special; how I would love for him to be the next Pope.

Yes... if someone is trying to kill you, you don't want to be reconciled to them. You can pray for them from a distance, but be careful, too.
