    I'm speechless.
    How blessed you are padraig!
I constantly wonder why I have no consolations from God at all. He granted me a strong faith in Him, when I sought Him 8years ago, after which I got baptised. But it seems that that is all I have :(

I don;t think it is that we are too afraid of suffering but rather that perhaps we do not respect suffering enough. We do not realise what could be just round the corner and our own ability , granted God's grace to carry these things.

I used to have a friend called Mark I used to meet in the park. He was in a wheelchair from an early age having broken his back in and attempted prison escape.

I never realised how much he suffered nor how much he battled to endure it till many years later looking back on hi after he died.

It is the same with so many on the forum who ask for prayers. Their crosses overwhelm me. But I don't think the people themselves who carry these understand how huge they are. Grace is carrying them so well.

From what I know of you and your family, Mary you carry Cross enough.

But God has granted you Eagles Wings.

I can't see that from where I am now.
I have my own crosses to bear. But what St Pio said rings constantly in my ears: "If only you knew the value of suffering, you would not want to give it up".
So I offer them all up to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary each day.

SgCatholic---you are doing all the right things!!! You are embracing God's will without the consolations. That is huge. Once many years ago when looking at an image of the Sacred Heart I thought I heard in my heart "How many want my gifts. How few want my Cross. " at the time I was blessed to be in a very active charismatic community with many people manifesting all sorts of glorious gifts. I did not have anything dramatic at all. I wasn't envious just sad that I hadn't measured up somehow. After that "word" I had great peace. The Cross may be the greatest gift of all. And doing His Will with no consolation is a very grace filled cross.

This is true. I think often too it is not the big things but loads of small things. I also think we can become accustomed to most things. So after a while we are not consciously aware of suffering.

I think it would be true to say that to live is to suffer. That sounds grim but it is true. One of the things I am most aware of when I meet people from heaven is that absense of suffering It is so very, very obvious. For us here on Earth though, I don't think we are even aware of this constant pain in everyone around us. The very pain of simply living.

But for citizens of heaven every tear is wiped away and you can see this quite clearly. Holiday time. Eternal holiday time:)

    Great post & timely.

I have been a grump all week & if I were God I would not allow me into heaven. Little things have got on top of me & instead of offering up I have become Victor Meldrew.

Your post is a reminder Padraig that the thorns of a rose will not be plucked until we enter heaven

Another intellectual I greatly admire at the moment is Jordan Peterson, a Canadian psychology professor who has spoken out with incredible clarity and courage on a whole array of the crazy things that are going on at the moment. Again, not an adherent of any particular religion but a firm advocate of religious belief, albeit from, I think, a more anthropological stand point. He's riveting to listen to and has shown himself to be utterly fearless in the face of the enraged backlash he has faced for speaking the truth. One video of one of his lectures shows him attempting to teach his class while a full-on mob protest takes over the lecture room, I'll see if I can find it. He behaves like a veritable saint while the mob rants and raves.

This is a video of him talking about free speech:

This one is the lecture that student protesters tried to shut down:

I had no idea things had gotten so awful in Canada. No idea at all. This is very, very scary indeed.
I much prefer the Communists of Nazis to the PC transgender police. At least their arguments had some kind of inner logical consistancy. This transgender stuff is laughable. Imagine being imprisoned or killed by what amounts to an insane bunch of clowns.

    Ugh.

Things are unbelievably bad in Canada. Poor Mark Mallett, I don't know how he bears what's going on there. Here's an example:

I think God is using the highly educated, well and out spoken, morally sound Jordan Peterson as a voice box against the tied of liberal do-gooders in governement, academia, and elsewhere. Jordan may not be a practising Christian but he believes in God, hell and supports all that is Jesus, and His part in the foundation of western society.
Jordan is smarter than all the Canadian politians put together, and that would mean nothing if not for his strong moral stance on critical issues and his ability to convey them. More of his videos are well worth watching.
I pray the recent consecration to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary will bare fruit in the coming weeks and months for our country of Canada.

The Church must never tremble in the face of demonic onslaught. Yes we must be vigilant and prudent, wise and gentle but never fearful. Our Lord tells us constantly to "be not afraid". We should trust in Our Lord's counsel. For with God with us, who can be against us?
