Its great to have another Californian on board, this time from San Bernadino. I was looking at some pictures of the State there and I must say it is very beautiful.
Thanks Padraig. I was born and raised in California and it is truly my home. I have lived in other parts of the US but I am very much at home here. In the late 1700's, the area known as California was part of Mexico and the Franciscans brought the gospel to the Native American Indians in this part of the country. A "mission trail" was established by the Franciscans from present day San Diego to San Francisco. If you are ever in the area to visit, please come an see the beautiful and rich history of the Franciscan missions. Here I am posting a few pics of one of the closest (about an hour drive) to my home.
I LOVE Catholic names, San Farancisco ,Carmel, San Diego, Los Angeles.... I know one of the first Franciscan priests there in the initial settlements was a great saint and wonder worker, like Padre Pio but I have forgotten his name. The Fact that the Church is turning more and more Hispanic in the USA is surely one of the great Signs of the TImes.
