Point No. 8 on the Pope's list at the close of the Summit actually reads "Combat sexual tourism around the world". Sexual tourism and sex trafficking go hand in hand. Either the Pope is saying that our clergy and institutions with a duty of care for minors are involved in sexual tourism, or the Pope has committed the Church to tackling a problem which the UN and UNESCO have far more resources and influence to deal with. Given the Church's dwindling resources along with the abysmal record on cleaning up our own back yard, why did it make the list? Can we expect to wake up some morning to headline news with an expose of priests and schools or orphanages involved in the business of sexual tourism?

If the institution is involved in that kind of criminality, we would be better off with Pope Benedict's poor church for the poor. If it results in an exodus of apostate bishops and priests along with their hangers-on, it can't come soon enough.

Something else Ann has touched on recently is sex trafficking. Am I the only person worried to see that sex trafficking was included in the Pope's 8 point bullet list at the close of summit dealing with sexual abuse of minors by clergy? Granted, it may be that the Pope or whomever compiled the list simply lifted it from the UN and UNESCO guidelines without bothering to consider the implications. I hope that's what happened because I can't think of a reason for its inclusion other than that the Bishops are aware of Catholic clergy being involved in the sex trafficking industry.

I watched that as it was being aired on Youtube. During the broadcast people were posting comments which were shown in a continuous stream alongside the video, and Taylor Marshall responded to some of the comments. I don't know the correct term for that but it isn't the usual comment box shown beneath youtube videos. The scroll of comments moved so fast that I couldn't read fast enough to keep up with them. One comment I did read from Dr. Marshall was a tip that Cardinal Scola would be the next Pope. That seemed strange to me, especially because I believe it is most likely that the next Pope will be someone handpicked by Pope Francis to succeed him, and Cardinal Scola (present age 77) doesn't seem to be the type who would be favoured by Pope Francis or the Cardinals he has appointed. There is a theory that we currently have a Jewish Pope. His name Bergoglio is quite unusual and I have read that it is derived from Bar-Guglielmo (Bar = Son of in Hebrew and Guglielmo is Italian for William). Maybe he's from the tribe of Dan!

I should have added that a priest I spoke with privately said the same thing and mentioned that in his opinion the church is in a time of purification and that great Saints are made in these times.
