The tourist board warned them about their sheer greed many, many times. They pay no need. Dublin is worst.
There are two new films, both are of the interest to Catholics. One is called , 'The Pope's Exorcist ', with Russell Crowe . I just watched a ten minute excerpt c from it of an exorcism Father Amorith did and it is the strangest, strangest thing. A teenager appears to be possessed by demons that call themselves , 'Legion'. The Father tricks them into going into a pig by taunting the demons that they cannot do so. He then has the farmer shoot the pig which solves the problem. The strangest exorcism I ever heard of. But of course in Scripture Jesus causes demons to go into a herd of swine which then promptly drown. Who knows.
The second film , 'Firebrand', a life of King Henry VIII starring Jude Law is in production. Jude is a method actor. In the last year's of his life the King suffered from a bad leg which was literally rotting away beneath him. History shows it smelt so bad people actually fainted out cold when he drew near? Jude got the most foulest concoction imaginable and covered his leg with it and now the film crew are running in all directions at his approach. It occurs to me his rotting smelly leg was a punishment from God for his horrific behaviour?
I like and admire Jim Cavaziel, we have, as Catholics much to be grateful to him for. But hecalways came across to me as so intense to the point of being highly strung. I always wished he would lighten up, smile and tell a few jokes. Look at people like Fulton Sheen and Mother Angelica they were always cracking jokes and laughing and smiling. St Teresa of Avila used to say , 'Lord save me from sad faced saints!'
Yes, quite plausibly. I was just reading about the kings of Judah today in 2 Chronicles. In the time when the Israelites were split into 2 Kingdoms, Israel in the North and Judah in the South, the kings of the Northern kingdom were mostly very evil and apostate. The opposite was true of the kings of Judah. Most were faithful to the Lord - except Jehoram who massacred his brothers, and secondly he led the people into apostacy by setting up idol worship on the high places. The Lord, says the Bible, would not outright destroy the Royal family. However, the Lord roused the Arabs and the Philistines to attack Judah and carry off all of Jehoram's wives and sons. The Lord left Jehoram's youngest son Jehoahaz as an heir to the throne and he left Jehoram untouched. This was because of the Lord's Covenant with King David to grant him a Dynasty in perpetuity. The Lord did however afflict Jehoram with a bowel disease. 2 Chrocicles 21 says that Jehoram's bowels protruded as a result of his disease and he died in acute pain. This fulfilled the prophecy of Elijah, given by the Lord.
I was watching a utube video of a young, very Conservative English Anglican Minister , he had a small statue of King Henry on a shelf above his head. I asked him why he had a statue of a serial wife killing adulterer on the shelf and if it troubled him that such a man could have founded his, 'Church', I got no response.
I am a shocking old devil. I suppose I have not an Ecumenical bone in my body. But perhaps it starts by asking each other a few hard questions. If it's all about being nice and having tea and biscuits, I don't see a lot of point to it all. If the intent is not to convert them to the One True Faith, then what is the point? To be nice for the sake of being nice? Unless we do not really believe we have the fullness of the truth in the first place? Well then. that being so. perhaps they can convert us instead.
I think they have been converting us (or trying to) over the last 50 years through Luke warm progressive bishops.
Real exorcists are not enthused about this film from what I have read. On the other hand they whole heartedly endorse Nefarious.
I have heard him interviewed when he was actually quite funny. But lately you are right. He is intense. Maybe he needs to step away for awhile.
Because he is doing so much good and is so famous he is a kind of point mam for the rest of us. Satan and his servants will be gunning for him like crazy, poor man.
There is a lovely new article in the National Catholic Register about Sister Wilhelmina. I think her red pill moment came over the religious habit which members of her order were either modernising or doing away with altogether. I noticed when Mother Angelic red pilled she went back to the old habit too. It takes huge, huge courage to stand out from a group especially in a close community, a family like a religious community but We Wilhelmina did so making her own habit. She seemed then to have a good think to herself then about what was going on in the Church since Vatican two and one thing led to another and she wound up going back to the old Rite and founding her own Benedictine Monastery which appears to be thriving. In other words here was a lady who went though the fires, the mill and ended up as a kinda later day prophet or Moses leading people out of the desert and back to the promised land. It is very touching and endearing because her journey is to some degree all our journeys in that we have all had red pill moments about the Church, Government, the Media, wider society and who knows what else going on all around us. Sister Wilhelmina not only woke up and smelt the coffee, she woke up and went to work , rolled up her sleeves and did something about it, blessher. What strong, feisty, fighting woman she must have been.
She had a huge, huge devotion to Our Blessed Lady and died with Mary's name on her lips. One of the sisters says that any time there was talk of the Mother of God her face used to light right up. The lives of some saints like for instance St Charvel or St Catherine Labours are very, very quiet and hidden. But then after their deaths, like a river that has been damed for years God points a miraculous finger and the whole vast lake or sea of graces rains down on the world like crazy. We can expect many, many miracles coming from Wilhelmina shortly. If I was someone who needed a miracle ,I would put on my running shoes and race to the feet of Sister Wilhelmina right away.
I watched it the other night. It starts off more or less from there. And whilst it is entertaining for a time, it lost its way in the 2nd half with all the special effects nthat. Hollywood did what Hollywood does. And ruined what was shaping up to be a good show. Take a look yourselves. See what people reckon...
I went to St John's Church in Coleraine this morning. After Mass I stayed to say the Rosary. I was a little surprised they all cleared off so quick, it is a country tradition to say the Rosary before or after Mass and always in any Church there are always a few diehards who will hand in there praying a while. But no they all vanished like snow in summer. After the Rosary I went to say the Stations of the Cross but a lady appeared and said she had to lock the Church. Coleraine is a bitterly anti Catholic area and they are afraid of the Church being wrecked or burnt and there are only a small number of Catholics in the town. This brought me back to an incident in my childhood. I was ten years old when a group of boys recognised me as Catholic and one of them hit me on the side of the head with a rock. I got home covered in blood and I remember my father rush out with a stick to chase after them. Back in those days Belfast was only twenty per cent Catholic, nowadays it is sixty per cent Catholic so the worm has turned. But I feel sorry for Catholics in towns like Coleraine who have to live like that.
