Interesting beliefs PS. (This is far better than watching telly) I have read other views that one has got absolutly nothing to do with the other. Can I ask if you have a source for your convictions other than your own faith/feelings. Of course sometimes they are the best source. At other times we need to see the heart as the great traitor. This is what the desert fathers called it.
It is my personal feelings. I think our lady is reaching as much of the world and as many generations as she can through multiple apparitions to warn us about what is coming and plead with us for our fiat and full conversion. I am not a follower of Garabendal but know in general what as happened there and the prophecies. I have been to medj and credit those apparitions with bringing me back to the faith after being far, far away. Some seem to think the apparitions are in competition with each other, but I think they compliment each other. I also think Garabendal was meant to reach one generation and Medj the next. Either way the overall message and themes are the same...convert as soon as possible and be a light for others to bring them back to the faith. We will get hit with chastisements and when that happens, we won't be gloating on a forum that we were right...we'll be on our knees praying we are not put to the test...at least I will anyway!!
Thanks PS. When the Warning comes gloaters across the net will be degloated and choke on massive mouthfuls of humble pie. I hope I die before the Chastisement. I think I will be on the same level as you....on my knees. Thanks for your comment. Seemingly we have to wait until after yet another consultative meeting for some kind of a decision on Medjugorje. I am inclined to bet that that answer will not be definitive. Whatever happened to "let your yes be yes and no be no." It seems it applies to us but not to them. Sometimes I feel the powers that be should be done for obstruction. I find it hard to reconcile the belief that they are guided by the Holy Spirit with such delay. Surely the Holy Spirit is instant in comprehension. I still believe in this source of guidance and await their verdict. Just as a matter of interest, if the Church condemns Medjugorje would you concur? If it condemned Garabandal I would try to accept and cooperate....but I don't know how.
I heard an interesting theory about how these prophecies will line up. Fatima, Garabandal and Medjugorje are roughly on the same line of latitude so perhaps a miracle could be seen 'around the world' if it occurred in the sky circling the globe at that latitude?
I will be glad when the Medj council makes an announcement on Medj. I do not expect a yes answer as they are still ongoing, but I do expect some guidance from the vatican on where they stand on Medj and what is allowed by pilgrims. I'm sure the holy spirit enlightened the members right away...but delay comes in with general human behavior, politics, and red tape, which all exist in the vatican. Then you throw in the spiritual battle going on there now...and no surprise it is all taking so long. If the council shuts Medj down, I would not concur but of course I would comply and be obedient. Thanks be to God, I am passed the stage in my conversion where I am attached to Medj or leaning on it for my faith. Initially I think it is natural to become attached to an apparition site if it is pulling you from your world of sin, and I was attached to it initially. But, if you cooperate with grace and make a firm resolution to convert, our lady will lead you farther down the path from attachment to the apparition site to attachment to her son. I think it is a natural progression. Some I suppose develop an unhealthy attachment to Medj and will not let go regardless in the same way some people develop an unhealthy desire to bash Medj despite the fact that to this point, the vatican has not come out against it. Both of those parties need our prayers as both are unhealthy states to be in. As for how I would comply and be obediant if the council shuts it down, just like I posted in the "have you ever left the faith" thread, I simply would not read the monthly messages. Otherwise, I can retain the "5 stones" of Medj, because they are the pillars of the catholic faith and how one achieves true and deep conversion. I would pray for those who have just discovered Medj and are in the initial stages of conversion, for it could be traumatic for them. But, if Medj was God's plan for their awakening to the faith, He will move on to plan B for that person as God would obviously know this is coming. I actually hope to be alive for the chastisement. Not that I want to suffer, but I do think it would be purgatory on earth, and the saints have said it is easier to do your purgatory here on earth. So, I'm not saying "bring it", but it will be a unique situation to suffer your purgatory here and I am sure nearly every minute of every day will be an opportunity to grow in holiness and become a saint in ways simply not possible without living through a chastisement.
Yes Cathy. In 1917 Mary said she would return to ask for the consecration. On June 13th 1929 in Tuy (A few months before the stock market crash) she returned and told Sister Lucy that she was now formally asking the Pope along with all of the Bishops to consecrate Russia. Over the next several years Lucy corresponded with the Vatican and tried to get the consecration done as Our Lady had asked. It was not done properly and so Mary told her that the world would be chastised and that when there was a night illumined by an unknown light it would be the sign that the chastisement was about to begin. In 1931 at Rianjo Spain Jesus spoke to Sister Lucy and was upset that the consecration was not done as he had asked and there he gave what has come to be thought of as the "100 year time limit". In 1938 the great sign appeared in the form of an unnatural light over North America and Europe. Ironically Hitler was one of the only people to understand what it meant and he said this is a sign that "Now there will be blood, blood and more blood". So the 100 years could be counted from 1917, 1929, 1931, or even 1938. It may not even be 100 years exactly. Here is more info: http://www.fatima.org/essentials/facts/rianjo.asp
I believe it would be 100 years exactly. According to the fatima.org website : Based on this example, I believe it would be 100 years from June 13, 1929. It was during one of the original Fatima apparitions that Mary indicated she was planning to ask for the consecration, but Our Lady's formal request did not come until that date.
Muzhik, Am I right in thinking you are a Messianic Jew. this is not a problem of course. Just wondered. When you speak of Tribulation, I share a believe with others that we are in the Tribulation even as we speak. The extent of this time is known only to G_D. But a lot of people believe autumn 2015 could see the financial crash which would have a dominos effect on societies falling apart and a worsening of this period of Tribulation culminating in the 'Warning' or 'Illumination' or 'Correction of Conscience.' There is a strong feeling growing we could have this 'Warning' by the end of this year of 2015. The 'Warning' will not come without warning. One of the visionaries at Medjugorje knows the date and will reveal it to a Priest 8 days in advance. Visionary and Priest will fast for some days and then it will be revealed to us all 3 days in advance. The visionaries from Garabandal have said the 'Miracle' will take place within a year of the Warning, as others have said on this thread. And one of the Garabandal visionaries will reveal the date of the 'Miracle' 3 days in advance. I did read that Conchita had said as she grew up and saw how the world behaves, it seems the Chastisement will happen. G_D help those who are alive in that time. The 'Chastisement' G_D forbid should it come will culminate in about three quarters of humanity being wiped out, from what we have heard in the Akita Church approved messages.
Hi Muzhik, I have changed my mind a number of times on this, but currently my thinking is in line with yours. I will not state I know definitively, but I think the 100 years is from the time the consecration was officially asked for. That being said, I think the 100 years is for the chastisement from heaven. Fire falling from the sky, Three Days of Darkness, etc. Before that comes there could be many years of hardship. So from now until then (14 years), a chastisement from man's own hand is possible including a war with Russia, a mess in the Church, etc. Basically the world will become a hell on Earth. I do think things are lining up so amazingly right now though that something is about to fall upon mankind very shortly. I have been looking at Catholic prophecy for 25 years and I have never seen anything like the lineup of events we have now. Many people feel that the chastisement will last only a few years, but I wonder if it may not last decades, with an underground Church etc. Who knows? I am totally content with the fact that I may be entirely wrong.
No, I'm a born-and-bred cradle Catholic. I get that question a lot because of how I type out G_D. I started doing it almost 7 years ago when I was doing some research into the Jewish roots of Christianity. I ran across the Orthodox practice of using "G-d" when they needed to type out the name of HaShem. I'm a bit of a speed typist, frequently not consciously thinking about what I'm typing. This included when I typed out the word "G0d". Out of curiosity, I started spelling it G_D. The two capitals and the underscore require some stretching, forcing me to slow down, and making the typing of the Holy Name into a prayer itself. Now it's just automatic to type it that way, but I still have to slow down when I do it, so it still is a small prayer.
I just finished writing a letter to my sister and her husband. 8 years ago I put together an analysis of the bad things that were coming and sent it to all of my family. This firmly cemented my position in the family as The Crazy Uncle. This sister and her husband took my analysis to heart. As he just wrote, "Although you were wrong about the cause of the market collapse you were right about its timing and severity. ... Pulling out of the market in '07 and getting back in in '10 was huge for us. " For not even doing this as a hobby, I'll take getting 2 out of 3 right. I've also decided that there are just too many possible tipping points; and trying to pinpoint which grain of sand will send us over the edge misses a HUGE point: America is like that house in Florida two years ago, where a sinkhole formed under the house and sucked in both the house and the owner. I'll wager if the house had been appraised a month before the sinkhole formed, they would have found that the house was in excellent shape and a good value. No one even thought about looking for a sinkhole under the house. I'm going to go ahead and start a thread to post that letter. I'm sure it will spark one or two discussions after people finish eating that elephant. Because it doesn't matter if you start with the trunk or with one of the legs, eventually the elephant will be eaten.
Hi Julia As far as I know there will be no official warning of the warning. Things will be at their worst. We are not in the pre-warning tribulation yet. We will know when we are in it. Perhaps it could be said we are in the pre-amble to the tribulation. We will be given 8 days notice of the miracle. Correct me if I am wrong but this is what we have been told. Nothing else. We are not in control of these events. They do not need guesswork. 8 days notice for the miracle. No notice for the warning. The date of the miracle is set.
If anyone is interested, I've started a new thread in the "Signs of the Times" forum, titled "Signs pointing to New Madrid Fault in October?" If anyone finds an error in my reasoning, PLEASE let me know. (Strike that. If you find an error in my reasoning, keep it to yourself. I don't want to hear it. <sticks fingers in ears> LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA...)
If the warning is to occur on Good Friday the 25th March 2016 and then the Miracle was to occur on Holy Thursday the 13th April 2017 this is technically outside of the calendar year however it is within the Church’s liturgical year. In fact it gives us a full cycle of the liturgical year to offer reparation and to give witness. I think when considering how our loving God allows us to participate in His plans for us He always gives a blessing which then requires us taking a step out in faith. Conchita has told us that the day of the Miracle will coincide with the feast day of a holy Martyr of the Eucharist. The Feast of St. Hermengild, Patron of Seville and Martyr of the Eucharist, is on April 13th. In 2017, the year of the 100th Anniversary of Fatima; April 13th is the Feast day of St. Hermengild, who was martyred for his faith in the Holy Eucharist and it will fall on Holy Thursday … the Feast of the Institution of the Holy Eucharist! His name is unusual as Conchita stated it is and I wonder, is he techinally Spanish?
I am starting to think along these lines too. Yes in fact it would take us right up to one liturgical year.
Just did a quick search. Both Catholic Encyclopedia and Catholic Online have entries for St. Hermengild. He was a prince of Visigothic Spain whose father and stepmother followed the Arian heresy. This heresy taught that Jesus was a created creature like you and me, and not part of the Godhead. It had been declared a heresy at the Council of Nicea, but two hundred years later, it was still going strong in some locations. Long story short, Hermengild converted from Arianism to Catholicism. His father had him captured and thrown into prison. An Arian bishop came to visit him and told him all would be forgiven if Hermengild accepted Holy Communion from the hand of this bishop. Hermengild refused to betray Jesus in the Eucharist, and so the next day (Easter Day) he was beheaded. He was honored locally and regionally as a martyr, and in 1585 the feast was observed throughout Spain, but not the universal Church, which is why most of us probably have never heard of him.
I read about Hermengild a few months ago, funnily enough and was touched by his story. He was a Prince who was killed by his father , a King for being a Catholic. It was such an unusual occurrence a son killed by his dad on account of his religion.
