I saw the strangest thing tonight, Bobby about 7 O'Clock I was walking the dogs around Belfast Lough about 20 feet above the sea. It was very quiet with a sea like glass. All of a sudden this big succession of giant waves suddenly came in, so big they nearly reached up to the path. It wasn't a boat I would have seen the lights.

Then just as quickly it stopped and the sea was calm again. Very, very big waves right out of no where. Huge really.

I suddenly looked at the sea differently..as though for a while it had been the enemy.

Padraig. I started this thread 21st December and we are still posting about the weather 7 January 2014.

Perhaps things will settle but I do not remember such a sustained period of strange weather patterns.

We have had snow in Jerusalem, Egypt and Syria. The USA is undergoing a profound polar vortex. Yesterday a small tsunami hit Portugal. Huge waves ripped into a graveyard in coastal Connemara exposing corpses, which for me is a real portend for Ireland. And we have had fireballs as signs, volcanoes becoming active.

Into this mix add the Fukushima crisis affecting the Pacific.

It is as if the earth is beginning to rebel against man. God allows these things for a reason to remind man that without Him we can do nothing.

This was posted on a different thread in late November.

As an aside: I also heard a great fact about the Sumarta Volcano. Supposedly in the space of a few hours it gave out as much greenhouse gasses as the last 30 years as given our by humans. Hard to quantify that but I thought it was worth listening to.

I agree, I think you are spot on about January 1st and abortion is one of the prime candidates for what we are getting now.

I wonder could Padre Pio splitting in two represent his ability to bi-locate and was proof that it was really Padre Pio and that he is very active in our lives right now bringing us along on the road of repentance. I know I have been helped along by him recently and feel close to him. Thanks for sharing this.

  7. Glenn Beck, a U.S. talk show host (former Catholic) said today on his radio show that one of the goals he is making this year is to listen to the inner voice that he hears in his head. I agree totally. I'm going to go silent and listen more often. God constantly speaks to me, I know it. My never ending moving makes him hard to hear however. I MUST sit still and listen.

Just reading that a big portion of US will be feeling another "polar plunge" this week with temperatures in mid-west going down to -20 to -30 F and will chills near -50F where you can get frostbite in a matter of minutes. On top of all this, there is a shortage of propane which is a major source of energy and heat. Prayers for those of you in these conditions.

I was at one pm mass in St Patricks' in Belfast on Saturday afternoon. It suddenly went dark, the wind howling and the rain bucketing down and I thought of the End of the World.

Then I thought..well I've just been to confession, I am at mass, I am about to receive communion ..I am in a Church in the company of the Faithful..and I smiled.

Our Faith is the greatest possible consolation. Life is very short. We are all going to die, nothings surer, its how we die and where we go afterwards that counts. Eternity isn't short.

This is the most consoling thing I've heard of in sometime Padraig. To think that this cruel trial will come to an end... thank God. All these voices of chastisement and the rancor of the world...I dare say I won't miss it even for a second. There is nothing here for me now...its all a yelping dog and a shattered mirror. The only comfort is the warm hug of a child and content wife...all else is stone cold. Sacred Hearts keep us safe from the soreness of our pilgrimage.

I think it is only when we have left this old world that we have truly found it. :)

Your words remind me of some verses from Psalm 73:

Whom else have I in the heavens? None besides you delights me upon the earth. Though my heart and flesh fail, God is the rock of my heart and my portion forever!

We just had a few nice days, some sunshine and starts visible at night. But looks like another storm is on the way.

I meant to say, one particular clap of thunder last weekend during the last storm made an ornament I have attached to a window shake and rattle against the glass. I never experienced this before but happened twice now in two months.

One member of the UKIP party here in the UK ascribed the terrible flooding in Somerset to the decision to allow same sex 'marriage'. Of course he was roundly scorned by the press. However a government spokeswoman, defending the lack of action to deal with the matter, described the floods as being 'of biblical proportions'. it made me laugh loudly, she doesn't know how right she is.
