Pope Francis said today "the church has never been better". Wow, what world is he living in? Apostasy within the church has never been greater, and that includes cardinals, bishops and priests. Where is he coming from? Is this yet another gaff, like "who am I to judge a gay person"? Judge what, his homosexual activity or his soul?

CCC: 2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
The Pope needs to make it clear that homosexual ACTIVITY is a grave sin.Even thoughts that are willfully entertained.Mortal sins , crucifying Our Saviour, again and again.
The Pope needs to make it clear that homosexual ACTIVITY is a grave sin.Even thoughts that are willfully entertained.Mortal sins , crucifying Our Saviour, again and again. How about heterosexual activity? I can't go to the beach, watch tv, sometimes even go to church without temptation or bad thoughts.
Anyone here wish the pope would talk like this: Putin urges Russians to return to values of Christianity Vladimir Putin called on Russians to strengthen a new national identity based on conservative and traditional values such as the Orthodox church on Thursday, warning that the west was facing a moral crisis. “Sovereignty, independence, the integrity of Russia – those are red lines that no one is allowed to cross,” the Russian president warned. Mr Putin said Russia should avoid the example of European countries that were “going away from their roots”, by legalising gay marriage and excessive “political correctness”. “A policy is being conducted of putting on the same level multi-child families and single-sex partnerships, belief in God and belief in Satan. The excesses of political correctness are leading to the point where people are talking seriously about registering parties whose goal is legalising the propaganda of paedophilia,” Mr Putin claimed. “People in many European countries are ashamed, and are afraid of talking about their religious convictions. [Religious] holidays are being taken away or called something else, shamefully hiding the essence of the holiday,” the Russian president added. “We need to respect the rights of minorities to be different, but the rights of the majority should not be in question,” he

Seems like a lot of smoke and mirrors from Russia. If I am not mistaken I read a stat once that they have more abortions than births among the true Russians and not the Muslim Russians.
Pope Francis is perplexing. His way of talking is not very clear and is leading to misunderstandings. Now, more than ever, we need clarity and strong leadership from Rome
Pope condemns abortion in strongest pro-life comments to date, day after controversial interview by John-Henry Westen Fri Sep 20, 2013 09:50 EST ROME, September 20, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In a meeting with Catholic gynaecologists this morning Pope Francis strongly condemned abortion as a manifestation of a “throwaway culture.” "Every unborn child, though unjustly condemned to be aborted, has the face of the Lord, who even before his birth, and then as soon as he was born, experienced the rejection of the world," the pope said. The comments come one day after the release of an in-depth interview in which the Pope had explained that despite criticism he has avoided speaking about moral issues like abortion and gay “marriage” in his papacy, instead focusing on preaching about the love of Christ. “We cannot insist only on issues related to abortion, gay marriage and the use of contraceptive methods,” Pope Francis had said in remarks that were widely interpreted as a call for Church leaders to downplay the Church’s moral teachings on controversial issues. "I have not spoken much about these things, and I was reprimanded for that," the Pope had explained. "But when we speak about these issues, we have to talk about them in a context. The teaching of the church, for that matter, is clear and I am a son of the church, but it is not necessary to talk about these issues all the time." In response to that interview the United State’s largest abortion advocacy organization, NARAL Pro-Choice America, even posted an image thanking the pope for his comments on their Facebook and Twiter pages. But NARAL’s celebrations were cut short by today’s blunt remarks by the Pope, in which he urged doctors to respect life "from the first instant of conception." http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/po...ngest-pro-life-comments-to-date-day-after-con
Why should the Pope limit his pronouncement on grave sin to the one you identify. Maybe I'm wrong, but since this is a group of Catholics inclined to comment about our faith and prayer openly, I suspect most of us are not committing homosexual acts or contracepting, but I KNOW we are all sinners. I think the Pope has done us a great service, really an act of mercy, by reminding us that their are many of ways we separate ourselves from God. How about creating false idols of labeling a Pope as "liberal" or emphasizing one part of Church teaching. Are these not as much idols of our own making that come between us a God? Sorry, but I am very happy Pope Francis has raised such proactive points. Jesus Himself said I do not come to bring peace, I have come to divide people against each other. His ways are not easy. I think the Pope is on a high level saying follow Jesus.

Did I say anything about limiting pronouncements? Jesus said 'I have not come to bring peace, but the sword' . The Pope cannot make peace with the World.
