Why Pope Francis did not attend yesterday's concert int he Vatican's Paul VI Hall

    Andrea Torniellivatican city
The desolately empty white papal throne that stood in the middle of the Paul VI Hall describes what has gone on in the Vatican, better than any words could have done. Until about a week ago, this image could have been seen as a symbol of Benedict XVI’s resignation and of the sede vacante. But yesterday, it became representative of the Pope’s last-minute decision to miss a concert because something urgent had come up.

This is a Pope who sees his work on the dossiers presented to him and the discussions he is engaged in regarding the structure of the Roman Curia, as more important than half an hour’s relaxation listening to good music. Music he has been passionate about ever since he was a child, when he would listen to the radio with his mother and siblings.

Bergoglio’s aversion to worldliness is common knowledge and he has tried his best to avoid attending certain events. On this occasion, however, he had confirmed his attendance, so he had a legitimate reason for not walking the 50 metres that separate St. Martha’s House from the concert hall to attend the concert directed by Slovakian director Juraj Valcuha Mehta with Rai state television Orchestra: he was busy at work at his desk. Francis is faced with making some important decisions which are expected to change the face of the Roman Curia in the coming months. He does not see himself as a monarch but as a shepherd: only two days ago, he urged bishops “not to have the psychology of 'Princes.'”

There were lots of long faces among dignitaries, politicians, sponsors and cardinals when it was announced that Francis would not be attending the concert, just a minute before it was due to start.

Any speculations that the reason for his absence could have been health-related – after a busy morning of audiences and public meetings – were swept away by the presence of the Pope’s personals secretary and his personal doctor. Francis’ confirmation of tomorrow’s commitments is further proof that this Pope “from the other side of the world” is breaking the mould. He is still himself even now he is in the Vatican.

When it comes to his own opinions, Michael Voris can be a little extreme sometimes, but as a reporter of facts he would not say something like this unless it were on very reliable sources. He is an advocate for the Church, and this is definitely against the Church so if he is reporting this I believe it is actually happening. These are sad times for us if this is now going to be the next major story and that it is coming right after the Supreme Court decision...oh the timing couldn't be worse. Even if much of this turns out to be falsified, the scandal it will create will be very damaging.

This would certainly explain the Pope's absence from the concert this week too.

The days of keeping secrets seems to be over, the curtain pulled back and the world of corruption exposed.
This is the Blessed Mothers way of balancing the scales.
I have a feeling this is just a beginning of the whistle blowing, divine light is shining in dark places.
It's like the visionaries at Garabandal being call at night to pray because that is when most sins are committed. Tough to slink in the shadows when someone has the light on you.
