I was told to look for pans "Made in America" as they're of better quality iron than the ones from China. I have a cast iron dutch oven and fry pan and use them for just about everything. You'll end up with Popeye arms but they're indestructible.
I've been preparing for a few years now, physically & spiritually. Only God knows what we will be able to use/take with us if we are to flee, but I have tried to be prepared nonetheless. I recently added medicine such as ibuprofen and benedryl to my supplies. There's always something else to add... I'm a gardener and have planted many fruit trees, but don't plan on relying on them. I plan to take a foraging class put on by a local "eat wild" expert. I know that dandelion is edible and is actually super healthy. There are other wild edibles in our area, but I'm not too familiar with them. There's also a local variety of holly that can be dried and brewed as a coffee substitute since it contains caffeine. I'll need to be familiar with that one!! I do all the prepping on my own. My husband is a good Catholic man, but doesn't think we need to prepare for anything. I feel like I've been shouldering my family's potential future on my own. We have 4 young children who are my primary concern. Fortunately, God has given me these feelings of needing to prepare for 5 years now. He is so good to me because He knows that I tend to procrastinate! When people infer that I'm crazy to be preparing (and I don't tell many people) I always tell them that I'd rather be prepared and wrong, than unprepared and right. I agree that we should not get too caught up in things going on around us. Not always easy to do, but good advice. Jesus, I trust in you!

Great article. So how do we as Catholic Americans who do want to uphold God's teaching respond to this? Unfortunately, I believe that the SCOTUS will allow same- sex marriage. And then what? If the Church refuses to comply, do priests go to jail, is the Church sued and fined? Interesting tines ahead.
I suppose we all in a way knew this, but to see these statistics only confirms how quickly we are spiraling downward. To see that over 20% of US population with an increasing skew towards younger people having no religious affiliation is sad. You know that the vacuum created here will at best be filled in my secular humanism and worse by plain evil. All I can say is that despite the cold and snow and higher taxes, after reading these stats, I'm glad I live in the NE- appears we are the last holdouts of Catholocism.

I personally do not think we will have another election. Events will overtake us by then, and disrupt society to the degree that we won't have an election here. But during the events someone will rise up to lead us, I am hopeful of that anyway. Have your read the thread on Padraig's icons for the future of the US?
