Frankly, I am no longer suprised about anything in the world. The only thing that suprises me is when I find a saintly person in my midst. Finding a person in your midst who believes and follows all the truths that Holy Mother Church has revealed in the past 2000 years is like finding a needle in a hay stack.
When I was young I used to read prophesies of the Great Apostasy and think how incredible it seemed that such a thing could happen. Now it seems incredible that there was a time that most of my Parish went to mass. In many parts of Ireland mass going, weekly mass going is down to the single digit per cents. That's mass apostasy alright. But there's light too all round us. My older brother Ciaran has dumbfounded me by starting daily mass after a whole life time away.
Wonderful for your brother and perhaps a lesson for all of us. While there is time, there is hope. And maybe the other lesson is keep on being the good example as Padraig was and is to his brother. Ciaran might not have taken the steps as quickly as you liked but he observed and saw and it obviously touched his heart until in the Holy Spirits time, pushed him back into communion with His Lord. I could not believe it was authentic, but I have checked it repeatedly and yes, he did say it. And he said it to us Americans, who were at perhaps the apogee of our greatness, short of the fall of the Evil Empire. Well, how seriously should we take this? Very, very seriously. After all, the speaker was about to become one of the greatest popes in the history of the Church. In addition, he was a mystic and, yes, a prophet and truth-teller who suffered under Nazism and communism, as well as in a certain sense also from Islam. (Recall that he was almost killed by a Muslim assassin, only to be saved by the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima, according to his own words.) Let me be clear: my musings on the words of John Paul are not meant to encourage you to sell your property, close the bank account, build a bomb shelter, and await the rapture. That is not the Catholic thing to do. But it’s hard not to “ponder these things in [our] hearts.” What exactly did the pope see or have revealed to him? Perhaps the best place to seek the answer is his writings, although we lack space to comb through them all here. We can also look around us at the remains of what was once called the Christian West, noting a host of behaviors and beliefs that seem custom-made to initiate and accelerate decline. For example, we find in the West depopulation, legal abortion, open homosexuality and same-sex “marriage,” epidemic levels of pornography use, declining marriage rates, and rising cohabitation rates. Politically, even supposedly tolerant and democratic states like our own are beginning to deny the religious liberty rights of families, businesses, and churches. In addition, we observe growing centralization of power in the hands of those unfavorable to any faith except the idolatry of health, wealth, and technology. They place their long-term hope in the possibility that science may one day arrest death. They watched too many Star Trek and Star Wars movies as children. Unfortunately, they may well go where many men have gone before – and not simply into outer space. This, surely, is the Anti-Church that St John Paul foresaw – in any event it is here, it is growing, and to a great extent it has already demolished Europe. What are we to do? First, of course, do not despair. As Catholics we live this life looking forward to the next. We can’t lose, for as St. Paul put it, for us death is gain, not something to fear. How then to confront and combat the Anti-Church? Imitate the lives of the first Christians! Consider this justly famous description of Christians in the anonymous Letter to Diognetus, written in 79 A.D.: “For the Christians are distinguished from other men neither by country, nor language, nor the customs which they observe. For they neither inhabit cities of their own, nor employ a peculiar form of speech, nor lead a life which is marked out by any singularity. . . .They dwell in their own countries, but simply as sojourners. As citizens, they share in all things with others, and yet endure all things as if foreigners. Every foreign land is to them as their native country, and every land of their birth as a land of strangers. They marry, as do all [others]; they beget children; but they do not destroy their offspring. “They have a common table, but not a common bed. They are in the flesh, but they do not live after the flesh. (2 Corinthians 10:3) They pass their days on earth, but they are citizens of heaven. (Philippians 3:20) They obey the prescribed laws, and at the same time surpass the laws by their lives. They love all men, and are persecuted by all. . .they are in lack of all things, and yet abound in all; they are dishonored, and yet in their very dishonor are glorified. They are evil spoken of, and yet are justified; they are reviled, and bless; (2 Corinthians 4:12) they are insulted, and repay the insult with honor; they do good, yet are punished as evil-doers.” If we live as the first Christians did, we too can confront and triumph over the Church of the evil Global Empires.
I have guessed for a while that the homosexual agenda would be the vehicle for religious persecution to come in the U.S. We've seen the beginnings of it, but here is preview from Colorado, where a baker has been found guilty of discrimination by refusing to bake a wedding cake for a homosexual "wedding": "After going through all the good times that everyone who has ever been in a courtroom knows all too well, Mr Phillips found himself guilty as charged of being publicly Christian. I believe the specific legal verbiage was a tad different from that, but that’s what it amounted to. He has been court-ordered to bake the blasted cake and — get ready for this — go to “sensitivity training,” and send his entire staff to the same training, where, presumably, they will get their brains washed out and cleaned of any remaining individual thinking. He’s also supposed to re-write his company policies to reflect the values he’s been ordered to learn to believe. On top of that, he has to submit quarterly reports to Colorado’s “Civil Rights Commission” (which seems an odd name for this group) to prove that he’s baking up a storm for gay weddings everywhere. Well actually I think it was an old flame of his from County Kerry, Breda who came up visiting and more nor less put him in handcuffs and dragged him off. Love can do it where nothing else can. I would say he was more than 40 years away from things. A big catch, lots of rejoicing angels (and brothers). Actually I had interesting visit with him last night. He texted his 13 year old dog had just died out in the garden and I went down to cheer him up. He mentioned that the old dog had gone out to the garden and he took a sudden notion to look at old photos of him and the dog. As soon as he put the pictures down he went out to the garden and the dog died in his arms right away. I most certainly think it was his angel guardian prompted him to look at the pictures before the old dog died to get him set for its death. To remind him what a great life they had together , to let go. It was also him who mentioned they had been at mass this morning..I stunner for me. I think me driving all the way down to the sea side to be with him that night was kind of a triple whammy. But it reminds me..we look after God, god looks after us..and even our dogs. He went out and bought a new pup this morning, which reminds me of how the Holy Spirit renews itself ..and us.
Sorry I have gone of the USA. For what it is worth I think the chastisement awaiting the USA (and every other Nation on Earth) , terrible as it will be will be very,very mild indeed compared to Europe. I notice from Prophecy a major part will be Natural Disasters and internal strife (for the USA) . Remember though our Lady at Fatima said , 'Certain nations will be annihilated'. So considering the gravity of our sins we are blessed if our home countries are not wiped out. My own personal belief that a few such countries are China, Japan, Canada, the Balkans and Australia.
Ned Dougherty has a great story of conversion in a book he wrote, which I read a few times. However, I do not know whether he is a man of humility or not. At one point, prior to his conversion he was a very proud man and his passion was money, sex and drugs. He could be authentic, but I would hesitate following his messages at this point.
Just to shift gears a little bit. In March of this year, Russia dumped 20% of its U.S. dollars on the open market which could have generated a good bit of destabilization. So who stepped in to save the day by buying up these dollars? Belgium did, or rather, "Belgium" did. Where would this little European country come up with $40 billion on the fly? Obviously impossible, which means someone fronted the money through Belgium to buy the dollars. Conclusion: With such backroom manipulation going on, I believe the US dollar will collapse before the end of 2015, and that this crisis will precipitate international war and martial law within the USA. Destabilization was averted in March, but the writing is on the wall. I am praying and asking God for direction on how to allocate what resources my family currently has. I have never been this certain or moved this far along in the decision-making process. One year is a mere blink of the eye. Humanly speaking, I'm really scared. However, my trust is in the Two Hearts remains. The House of cards will collapse very soon. Lord have Mercy! Bring on the Consecration of Russia! Live the Faith in peace! I was listening to the news today, Terry. The Islamic militant group, ISIS has taken Mossul , Iraq's second city. It seems the Iraq officers just dropped their commands and ran, leaving their men too it, the cowards. Now captured Iraq armour is streaming into Syria and Iraq is falling apart. Everywhere the cause of Islamic radicalism (which is to say the cause of Satan) is winning All the pieces are falling into place for the takeover or Europe. It is amazing and frightening to see the chess board changing according to prophesy and so rapidly. Padraig - there are so many of these Jihadist groups that is hard to keep up to date. But imagine if they were all to unite under a single commander like a Madhi (prophecised in Islam) then this would be a formidable force. The ISIS is only 2,500 strong yet was able to take a large city like Mosul. If Europe implodes economically and the signs are there then such a radical force could easily take advantage. This scenario is still a few years away but things are speeding up rapidly but I suspect within a few years the European currency project will implode with dire economic consequences thus giving succour to the radical Islamic groups to take advantage.
My gut tells me we are months (maybe 6-12), not years, away from the scenario above to manifest itself. When evil is fully manifested (and it don't know whether it begins with global economic, social or governmental colapse) it will bind evil forces in a heart beat. The gradual shift of evil is taking place now, it is soon to implode upon the whole world I believe. I belive the formal schism within the Church will come first.
