It seems a (male) friend of mine either has a stalker OR is nurturing a clandestine romance, but I have a strong hunch "what's going on" isn't wanted by him at all. Please pray for my friend's safety.
It's both. They've met a handful of times at entertainment conventions, in which he participates (has a bit of fame). Either she is a genuine fan of this entertainment genre or she's deliberately attached herself to him for the attention. I am certain it's the latter. She's also "created a fan club" for him, of which she is "president." Thus, he can't exactly ignore her. But I don't know if he's secretly had liaisons with her. It's not my business to inquire of course. What now alarms me is she's recently made mention of some day wanting to visit his country (a trans-Atlantic flight), and now suddenly she's got a passport and is making arrangements. Either he's genuinely stuck having to deal with her through no fault of his own, or he led her on and it's come to this, or he secretly welcomes it (doubtful, as while she posts profusely on social media about him, he rarely responds).
Oh, dear. Ok, prayers for your friend! Can he simply pull back on his social media use, and limit contact with her that way?
He only rarely responds to anything she posts on his social media (and only because she has set up a fan club and made herself "President"; he is stuck). I have yet to see him interact on her social media. She is a very clever person, and if she's as determined as she is clever, he is in danger imo. His country is rather small and by American standards "he's easy to find." Her determination is also evident in her being a regular workaday gal (like me), yet she's paying for flights/hotels/meals to see him every chance she gets (in USA). Now it's this trans-Atlantic trip. Thank you for praying.
How strange to see a woman doing this to a man. It reminds me of Glenn Close in the film, 'Fatal Attraction'. More prayers! Life can be so sad. I heard about a very decent gentleman I know, a Baptist and a stepfather. But his young son has declared he is a Satanist and is getting all the tatoo's and the paraphenalia. The stepfather is lost himself and the wife are totallly lost as to what to do and are going out of the their minds. Poor, poor people. You hear so many strange things these days. I was walking around the park with the dogs this morning when I encountered a Park Ranger cleaning up amongst a little remote path I like to take far out in the trees. I complimented him for taking so much trouble and he told me he had to do it to collect all the needles dropped by young heroin users. Weird but so very,very sad.
Agreed. I no longer presume much about the people around me. Where I was born/raised (Midwest of USA), you mostly "knew others." Whether Catholic or Protestant, or even not religious, there were mostly shared values, outlooks, a real sense of community. People were mostly reliable, dependable; you had a friend or helping hand. How times have changed. :-(
Update. I no longer check my friend's stalker's social media in many weeks. It's been too disturbing. She needs help. I hope she hasn't flown to England to chase him around (find out where he lives, and who knows what happens then!). Turns out my friend is supposedly worth 6 to 9 million dollars. I wouldn't have guessed, and actually doubt that figure. But if it's so, it's no wonder she's been pursuing him so hard. I keep him in prayer.
Happy update: She is out of his life. It would seem that he put the kobosh on her intentions to fly to and pursue him in his country (she's USA, he's UK), she gave up. I'm glad our prayers were answered.
