Light in the Dark Ages: The Friendship of Francis and Clare of Assisi, by Jon M. Sweeney

    https://www.amazon.com/Light-Dark-A...ancis+and+clare&qid=1571010342&s=books&sr=1-1

I found and purchased this today, at local used bookstore. St. Francis is a familiar name to me, but I've not yet read about him.

Was surprised (Wikipedia) to find that "The Poor Clares" are named in honor of St. Clare. I'd encountered mentions of them years ago (subsequently forgotten), but didn't know the origin of their name.

Happy to have found this book. Will begin reading it tonight.

I found this (joy! joy!) at my local used bookstore an hour ago: God's Fool: The Life and Times of Francis of Assisi, by Julien Green.

    https://www.amazon.com/Gods-Fool-Francis-Perennial-Library/dp/0060634642

I'd seen it via Amazon earlier this morning, was "wow'd" by the reviews. I want to read it!

Decided to stop by the used bookstore, albeit with no expectations of finding any desired title.

I was just about to walk away, when its thick green spine caught my eye! :D It had been mis-shelved.

Saint Francis is wonderful, and the Franciscians seem to give the world many wonderful and brave Saints! Glad you're learning about him! The Saints are an endless library of wisdom, and love.

Last evening we watched https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054892/ "Francis of Assisi" (1961). A wonderfully made film!

We then stepped out for an hour.

On return home, I switched on the guest room light (1 regular bed, 1 daybed)...to see our cat curled up in a corner of the daybed she NEVER sleeps in (prefers the bed, or west end of daybed).

What's beside her? Two books about St. Francis...the animal lover. It's as if she sensed his presence there; perhaps she did!

Wish I could insert a photo I took.
