I have been on this journey since August of 2024 so will be bible in 2 years ha ha but will get through it. There is so much gold in these daily podcasts and so many times I get blown away by something I had not heard before. I am sure others do as well and would love to hear some of the things you were blown away by too whether from this podcast or other things in scripture or tradition that blow your mind.

Today, on day 314, it was Luke gospel about John the Baptist and then other early miracles of Jesus etc. After when Father Mike was talking about what we just read I thought this was so cool:

John the Baptist did his baptisms up from the mouth of the Dead Sea in the Jordan river as we know to also be just east of Jericho. The cool thing about this spot is it is the exact lowest point on the planet because the river does slightly rise up from here as it enters the Dead Sea and it has always been said that the Dead Sea is the lowest point on the planet. So this would mean the Son of God once again shows the world His true humility to be baptised in the lowest place on Earth. Other fascinating observations. This point marks the end of the Exodus as it was where it has been said that Joshua and the Israelites crossed out of Moab into Cannan here and then ultimately went onto Jericho to take it. Joshua and Yeshua very similar if in Hebrew and Joshua points to Yeshua meaning: Joshua = Yahweh is salvation, Yeshua = Yahua saves. So both having very historical events on this exact spot. Also it was the end of Moses's Exodus but then the beginning of a new Exodus with Jesus as his ministry truly began upon His baptism and we all know where that leads to an exodus from the old covenent to the new and final one through Jesus.

So so cool how God has worked from the old to the new and tied massive events all together in the same locations.

I am on day 360 but started in January, averaging 3-4 lessons a day. Have learned so much! In the thick of Revelation right now, which has always been been a challenge to me.

Question I have from today. Many times you will hear Father Mike in his commentary after the scripture is read, that it doesn't translate to that in the way it should like it would be in Greek. If that is so often the case, then why don't we have the better translations. For examples:

Today in Luke when Jesus tells Peter the devil wants to sift him like wheat and Jesus tells him he will deny him but when he comes back then help and save his brothers. The actual Greek though starts by saying the Devil wants to sift all of them like wheat then he tells Peter that he is praying for him and his faith is what will save his brothers. That is way more important than just the devil wants to sift just Peter. It points once again to Peter as the true leader and Peter as first Pope and not equal to his brothers in a sense they are all the same. No in fact Peter is the leader and the first Pope.

Another great example is in the Our Father prayer when we say, "A lead us not into temptation...." the actual Greek translates to, "and let us not be lead into temptation...." So much clearer and better than in the our father why would the Father lead us to temptations.

I wish I had time in life for 3-4. There are days I have been able to do that. I consider doing the Chatechism in a year next but hear it is tough and not nearly as interesting as the bible in a year. Can't wait for Revelation. It has been the book of the bible I have read and studied the most so excited knowing I will learn so much more!

Well I am retired after a 42 year career as a flight attendant— so I do have more time to read and listen to those podcasts. I finally finished the Bible and did start with the Catechism which is a different format but informative.
One thing that I was thinking about today at mass— is that I am in the age group of the youngest of people alive that really remember the mass before Vatican 2. There was something about the priest facing the altar and tabernacle as he said mass, and all of the parishioners standing behind him as he lead us in our praise and worship that felt so special. I’ve never forgotten after all these years.

Is the Bible in a Year free? Where can it be accessed? My husband's friend at work asked him if he wants to study the Bible together each day at work, and I was wondering if this would be a good way for them to do that?

Thanks for posting these! I have been doing it in the Halo app. One thing I noticed when looking at the youtube list of days is that they seem to show the introductions to main sections of the bible not as a day or at least that was the case for the first videos I saw on youtube. Don't skip those introductions!!! They are very valuable in my mind!
